  • Lost your master key? Trying to program a new master key but only have your valet key? Want to reset your existing immobilizer? This video will show you how! This applies to Toyota, Lexus, and Scion Vehicles. I demonstrate on my personal Lexus GX470 which I purchased without a master key (only came with a valet key). After being told on the forums and groups that I needed to take it in to the dealership, I decided to read more and found a solution used by the 4runner guys. To make it simpler, I decided to demonstrate and record the process.
You don't need to go to the dealership or have a locksmith charge you when you could do it yourself!

Followed these directions and this worked well. If you program less than 3 keys while doing this (2 masters and 1 valet), it will stay in programming mode until you manually exit programming mode by turning the key on and off 5 times quickly.

Do you think it is worth it for me to do this instead of going to a locksmith? I purchased two new keys, and got it laser cut at the dealership for 25 dollars each. However I wasn't aware that you cannot program the key with your valet key. I was able to program the beep unlock though. So you purchased this thing that connects to your car for 27.99. How much did you have to pay for the token? And what was the grand total of this repair. I have the option of asking the locksmith to program the transponder on one of my new keys for me, then I can follow the simple process to program the others from my master key. Let me know your advice please. By the way it is kind of hilarious that this extremely specific video that pertains to my exact need is on TH-cam uploaded this year haha. Also I am a little confused on the token and pin code part. I don't feel like you explained it enough. I sent you a like either way

I agree, he was just a bit vague on the token and pin part.

@@gosh.o505 I was able to program it. I was using the valet key that's why it wasn't working. Then when I used the master key everything worked fine and I was able to program it.

@@adamo36532 Yeah somehow I did in that way... I bought a used ECU with a Key ..turned on Techstream said I want to register a new Key .. put in the new Key in which I couldn't turn but I didn't need to and it worked! I then just switched the Ignition ... so no need to switch the locks but I was lucky to get a used ECU with the Key for 25€...

@@ApexRace Not sure what an ECU is. Yo but dude, should I try this method in the video instead of going to a locksmith to program the key? I managed to program the beep unlock, but I only have the valet key and cant do the transponder with the pedal and door open closing thing. I am wondering if this is going to be really complicated or not. Looks pretty straight forward

TBH I don't know it looks like there is a difference between North American and European Cars. If I would be you I would ask a Locksmith if its even possible to do it.
