    There are a few concerns about which way the cutouts are facing. If you look at 11:55 you will see they are facing towards the rear as I film the interior of the car.

      FAB-B Yeah they’re facing the right way, honestly it doesn’t matter which way they are facing. The pistons in you’re engine force the exhaust through your headers there’s no way air is going to go up you’re exhausted into your engine because the only valve open is the exhaust valve on that piston stroke and it closes once that piston reaches full extension. These people in the comments have no clue. Good install bro. 👍

    Did you dig a hole to work under your car? If so that’s absolutely genius and I’ve been talking about doing it because I don’t have any room in my garage for a lift because the ceiling is an A-frame so the car wouldn’t lift up too high, but I’ve always thought about digging the floor about 6 feet and installing a ramp style deck for the car to sit on

    I hope you used some sort of a grommet where the wire passes thru the body. if not, the wire insulation will chaff and cause a short. if you don't have one, use a piece of rubber hose that just fits thru the hole and silicone it into place. if you do it as an afterthought, just slice the tubing to get it around the wire and run some electrical tape around it so the wire can't work it's way thru the opening, and again silicone it into place.
    cool project. open exhaust sounds good on a V8. I had a friend that put some on his third-gen camaro that he was building to be his "street car". his cutouts were very rudimentary. no cable or valve to open and close. just a block off plate that you had to crawl under the car to remove. it sounded good, but they were such a pain in the ass to get to.

    • @fab-b9818
      @fab-b9818  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I passed the wire through a small plastic funnel to avoid any wear and taped the wire so it wouldn't move, but thanks for your advice anyway ;).
      Indeed, it's not the most practical if you have to bolt and unbolt the cutouts to change the sound ^^, especially if you're in a hurry to hush up the exhaust ^^ !

  • @devoniousmaximus533
    @devoniousmaximus533 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice clean install but the y goes towards the back of the vehicle. You're supposed to split the exhaust flow. With it installed the wrong direction its basically just releasing back pressure when open. You'd get a much better sound and less popping and crackling on deceleration. Luckily they're bolted on easy fix, take them off 180 them and good to go guarantee it runs and sounds better. I've done a couple at my shop they are a nice cheap little upgrade i would recommend. For the people asking where to get them ebay and amazon they run about $50 $60 bucks a piece depending on diameter hope this helped.

      Thanks ! You're not the first one to tell me that but they are not facing forward, I put on the right way but it's not easy to see where the front of the car is. Look at 12:03, you'll see they are open towards the rear ;¬). They were a little more expensive in France, like 80$ each.

      open exhaust on a V6... oh man, people are gonna hate you. lol
      in my high school days and a few after, I had a friend with a little ford ranger and he cut the muffler off. it was so annoyingly loud. but it was never difficult to find him when he was driving (pre cell phone era). his favorite thing seemed to be to wind that sucker up in second gear and then just let off. you'd hear the loud scream of his little 4 banger all the way up to, and just a little past the redline and then followed by a long crackling and popping of that exhaust. it was so damn loud and he just loved it. another friend of mine had ridden with him out of town some where, and it was late and the unsuspecting passenger dozed off. he woke up to the driver screaming about the semi coming at them, but couldn't see it from the disorienting tailspin they were in. it was all a joke. he had driven out to the old abandoned road where we'd raced the 1/4 mile to see how fast our parents' cars weren't. anyway, he noticed the guy sleeping away peacefully and thought it would be funny to scare the piss out of him. so he got up just enough speed to spin his little truck around and it worked. my friend, the passenger, said it literally scared the piss out of him, but he took it all in stride. it was pretty damn funny.

    hey man, great video! How's the drone when you have them open? also, did you get a check engine light when you installed them? I heard if you put them too close to the CO2 sensors it could cause some havoc what do you think? I have a mustang gt 2020 and I just got a Roush H pipe and exhaust cut outs where would you recommend I install the cut-outs? I appreciate your time thank you!

      Hi, thanks 😉 !
      It was on a friends car and he sold it a few years ago but he didn't have engine light or other issues. I'm no expert but I would say that the further back you put them the better for reliability and confort, but I'm no expert. Depends also how much noise you want, the closer to the engine the louder it wil be 😅.

    So what I'd like to know is, when the cutout is installed it will open up to straight pipe, but it doesn't block off the muffler itself so it's will have exaust extracted from both sections. It would be better if it did block off the muffler section so you can get more sound I've been debating this with myself for a while now.

    • @fab-b9818
      @fab-b9818  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It doesn't block the flow to the mufflers but exhausts will mainly follow the quickest way out. I can't tell you how much gases come out of each exhaust but you will have 4 exhausts with the valves open.

    • @momolovo7332
      @momolovo7332 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      FAB-B , the resonator is big and there a lot space, but my concern is that there will be excessive pressure in the center of the exhaust system, which might damage the cutout valve motor

    • @fab-b9818
      @fab-b9818  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why would there be excessive pressure ? I don't think the motor will be damaged as the exhausts will always choose the easy way out, so if the valve is closed they will come out naturally by the rear muffler without much strain on the valve. That's how I see it but I'm not an expert.

    any recommendations for flooding areas? is it waterproof or can get a damage if water reach motors/cut?

    • @fab-b9818
      @fab-b9818  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question, it's more splashproof than waterproof I would say. You would have to find a way to seal the connections, maybe with a glue gun (but will it melt with the exhaust heat ?). The gears themselves won't really be a problem, although if flooded I would check them out and maybe clean and grease them again...

    • @brussell639
      @brussell639 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the electric motors themselves should be fairly waterproof, given the environment in which there intended to be used in. just water from road spray shouldn't be a problem, but a periodic check and a little spray of lubricant on the rotating shafts would be a good idea. now if you're talking a full blown immersion underwater, it might be wise to give them an inspection afterwards. should be OK as long as everything gets dried out. I'd definitely give them a shot of lubricant after an incident like that. you'd also want to check all the joints and make sure everything is still where it's supposed to be. I had a 1990 Chevy shortbed truck in high school and one night after a flash flood hit our area, I came around a corner and hit a lake where the road used to be. it was like hitting a soft wall. I was probably going about 50 mph and decelerated to about 10 mph in an instant. the force of the water hitting the Y junction where both exhaust pipes combined into one pipe right before the catalytic converter separated. the catalytic converter was yanked back several inches. the exhaust was noticeably louder. I liked it. but my parents made me get it fixed.
      that was a welded joint that the force of the water pulled apart. so joints that are bolted together will be much easier to break. just something to look out for.

    From your Video , I got that we have to install it before our normal exhaust Box , So when it is been closed the flow goes normally to the original box with the normal sound ,And when it is been opened it goes through it with the high desired sound , am I right ?
    Then I wounder how or from which part from the kit does this sound been generated?

    • @fab-b9818
      @fab-b9818  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, what I installed are valves which do not modify the sound as such but simply allow the exhaust gases to come out before the rear muffler and that makes the sound louder. They are basically a hole in the exhaust that you can open or close. If you were to install them closer to the manifold the exhaust would be even louder and if you installed them just before the rear muffler it would be quieter (but still noisier than the standard exhaust).

      I bought them on Aliexpress, but you can find them else where. It's a very good idea for the 350Z, I already love the stock sound of it but with valves, it will be just fabulous !

    • @fab-b9818

      I used empty spray cans (brake cleaner spray cans in my case). I sanded all the paint off then put 4 light coats of high temperature paint ;-).

      Technically you can install that on any car that has enough space to fit the system. You will need to find the right reducers to adapt it to the car's exhaust.

    • @fab-b9818
      @fab-b9818  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, sorry ^^, one of the motors stopped working after a year or so, my friend bought just the motor and replaced it. It's probaly not the best quality but the rest is ok. I didn't have the opportunity to check myself but maybe it was just a loose wire or something easy to fix...

    • @WadeWilson-
      @WadeWilson- 6 ปีที่แล้ว
