I love it that Meg doesn't feel like she's gotta be Neal Peart...just does her straightforward but quirky drumming to back up Jack's awesomeness. I totally love them.
holy shit thats a mean riff, im a new fan that so far has believed jacks amazingly unique voice to be his forte. now i realize that his virtuosity can match his singing.
loved it. their minimalist type or rock always does it for me. jack is one of the most creative artists today, up there with billy corgan... too bad white stripes doesn't play anymore. still can't wait to see jack in bruxelles in less than 2 months...
I don't care what anyone says... this is one of the top one hundred bands ever; and the number one band with only two people in it! "Screw-driver" totally rocks.
Thanks for sharing this excellent performance with us. May I apologise to you on behalf of all the pond-life who watch and listen to what they don't like and then get someone who can write badly to post a worthless comment for them.
pinchharmonic23: This one is the Crestwood Astral--it has the in-line fender-style headstock. The Harmony Rocket has the three-by-three headstock (he seems to rarely use this guitar for performances).
@Iruga14 It's a semi-hollow. Can't remember the model though. Search for a video here on youtube about Jack White's equipment. It includes this guitar.
@bickymcq He really describes it well in It Might Get Loud, he likes to make it a challenge, he wants everything to be a struggle, he used the piano as an example, saying if he needed to switch to the piano during a song, and it took him 4 steps to get there in time, he'd put it 5 steps away
Meg's drumming here really makes me think that if Son House had hit a drum and the occasional cymbal instead of clapping this would be it. Simple and powerful. Meg doesn't give anything that isn't needed. Turns out, the minimum can kick ass.
watch the movie it might get loud. Jack explains how he was inspired by old time Blues groups which are often time as simple as can be. the lack of bass was for the more minimalistic sense of style. he describes it in the movie as taking a step backwards. he is in no way hogging the limelight in any way. Meg was the drummer because she wasn't insanely technical and added to the minimalism.
that sound happens when your guitar strings and your speaker vibrate at the same frequency causing the speaker to oscilate, you don't have to play anything to cause it. the most easy way is by holding your strings real close to the speaker, and/or by turning your volume up. cobain used that a whole lot by playing two strings and bending one of them(also turning the volume way up, shaking his guitar and his whammy bar, and standing in front of his speakers)
she is definitely not neil peart (previous post) but she is a fairly good drummer. She plays simplistically for the Stripes because Jack specifically wants the sound of a child playing drums to back him, it's part of their style/image. I think she was even selected for that Yardbirds tribute with Jack, Jeff Beck, and Jack Lawrence. So... I agree kinda.
Nope, it's not a Fender Coronado, though it does look quite a lot like one. It's some 1960's Japanese made hollowbody that was sold under various names.
The reason people crap on Meg's skills because she is a female drummer. If she was playing a piano or an acoustic guitar, she would not be dissed constantly. People feel the need to scrutinize her. I noticed that Paz Lechantin (A Perfect Circle, Zwan) goes through the same thing because she is a bass guitarist. Me? I think that Meg and Paz, while being both very attractive women, contribute greatly to their respective bands and are very modest when it comes to their success.
Jack getting all shy at the beginning when the crowd cheers for them is possibly the cutest thing I've ever seen.
Meg has social anxiety disorder and he's worried about her.
I realize it's kinda off topic but does anybody know a good website to stream new tv shows online ?
@Kolton Turner meh lately i have been using Flixportal. you can find it if you google :P -shepard
@Shepard Anders Thank you, signed up and it seems like a nice service :) Appreciate it !!
@Kolton Turner happy to help =)
That synergy those two had omfg cannot be replaced. I miss her but she's doing her thing so that's cool.
I love it that Meg doesn't feel like she's gotta be Neal Peart...just does her straightforward but quirky drumming to back up Jack's awesomeness. I totally love them.
It's so funny how I innately find myself smiling with joy whenever I watch this video. The energy of this song is so incredible.
They had the crowd eating from their hands the entire time! One of the greatest bands in existence! :D
I will never understand this, but it will always be one of my favorite things
Meg looks beautiful
Gotta love that couple rocking out to this song
This son is brilliant.. I love the part closer to the end..."got a lil feeling now" sound like he's about to explode... great record.
my god, my most favourite band ever, jack and meg white are amazing
i just cant understand how the people in the crowd are staying so still!
holy shit thats a mean riff, im a new fan that so far has believed jacks amazingly unique voice to be his forte. now i realize that his virtuosity can match his singing.
the audience doesn't seem grateful enough that they are watching these amazing musicians.
awww when jack's mom grabs his hand at the end :)
Wow ...love this... jack is always so freaking amazing...
One of my favorite song ever. Love The White Stripes forever. I'll miss you both.
loved it. their minimalist type or rock always does it for me. jack is one of the most creative artists today, up there with billy corgan... too bad white stripes doesn't play anymore. still can't wait to see jack in bruxelles in less than 2 months...

I could've gone to a Raconteurs show, but my dad didn't let me. I was so pissed.
I don't care what anyone says... this is one of the top one hundred bands ever; and the number one band with only two people in it! "Screw-driver" totally rocks.

love them and miss them soo much....
i am a drummer..and meg is not horrible or mediocre..she just keeps it simple..this style of music does not need any fills or fancy drum work...
That was hilarious - and touching ^ ^
ladies and gentlemen... you've just witnessed drumming genius
Agreed Meg is Awesome!
brilliant!
1:51 two people are actually having fun.
omg, I was 3 years old and they already rocked that hard
aw bless your soul
Jack White is born year of the rabbit, he's a Jack Rabbit. Haha

Jack has always had several very distinct guitar tones with different guitars and they all sound mean as all hell. Raw player.
Great band!
man.. priceless... :)
Screwdriver was a good band !
*The white stripes was a good band. XD
Yes!
@Iruga14 It's a semi-hollow. Can't remember the model though. Search for a video here on youtube about Jack White's equipment. It includes this guitar.
Thanks for the coherent warning!
i love how when they r performing the kinda look like they zone out and it like its only them 2
thats true. i myself enjoy playing both ways... by the way. nice songwriting dude. i checked out your page.
what CHEMISTRY! How do they do that without looking at each other!?! They're sooo in the pocket
Awww 4:47 look at his mammy grabbing his hand at the end !
Great !
She's got her eyes closed and she still knows when to play!
@bickymcq He really describes it well in It Might Get Loud, he likes to make it a challenge, he wants everything to be a struggle, he used the piano as an example, saying if he needed to switch to the piano during a song, and it took him 4 steps to get there in time, he'd put it 5 steps away
thumbs up to that awesomehatguy jack's just too freaking talented for ttous to appreciate
awesome *__* .
the white stripes are amazing
1:53

haha look at the guy on the bottom left! good video by the way ;)

I just love music that's so rhythmically distressed that it's almost about to fall apart. It's the element of danger I suppose.
Your comment made me rethink the way I perform on stage. Thank you
This upload is 14 years old and still looks this good?
w t f !!!!!!!!!
this is amazing o_O'

I know.....hence my comment. I'm saying Jack sounds like Robert Plant in that song
megs best drumming ever is in "I Cant Wait" and "The Union Forever" both of White Blood Cells. But u have to listen to the album version!!!
It's a Crestwood Astral II. Pretty rare guitar. It looks slightly modified with two input selectors and a bigsby.
Loving the red
504,000th VIEW RIGHT HERE!!!!!!!
She's a great drummer.
I'm not certain anymore, but I thinks its a Harmony. Not sure what model, you can probably find out on a White Stripes fan site.
Nope, it's not a Fender Coronado, though it does look quite a lot like one. It's some 1960's Japanese made hollowbody that was sold under various names.

Happy Birthday, Jack White...7-9-75!!!

the link between these two musicians rivals the telepathy shared by frusciante and flea. i can think of no higher compliment to give.
This song makes me want to swing dance again.
@MrV1C7OR To ask wich song you play i would guess ?
