I own a 2018 STI and it’s by far the most raw and engaging driving experience I’ve ever had in a car. It’s a dying breed and those fortunate enough to own one in these golden days should enjoy them while they are still around!
The trunk flies open like that because it originally came with the wing. Wing weighs about 14 pounds. Orignal owner did a trunk swap and forgot to swap out those torsen weights.
I hear ya! It was a fun time ripping this thing around for the afternoon. These make great daily drivers for the northeast. I hope you enjoyed the review as well. If you did, please consider liking and subscribing! It really helps me out to grow my channel, and I very much appreciate it. Take care, and happy new year! -Mark
Hey there! So, after doing a decent amount of research, I will admit that your statement appears to be correct. Most of the information I found seems to say that the main component that is affected by the drive mode change is the throttle response. Although, I’m not trying to brag or anything like that, because I know I am not the most experienced person at all. However, I must say that I have a decent amount of driving experience for my age. Considering how many miles I’ve put down on the road, and how many different types of cars I have driven in my 29 years. In that moment, I 100% felt a noticeable difference in the weight of the steering. It might’ve been speed related (if the STI has speed sensitive steering), or it literally might’ve just been placebo. However, I know that I definitively felt a difference in how the steering felt between sport sharp and intelligent mode. I honestly feel like there has to be some truth to that based on how clear it was to me in that moment. If you can research and find a credible source that says otherwise, please let me know. I’m actually very curious to find out what the truth is, and if there is any different effect at all. Whether it’s through the drive modes, or speed sensitive steering. Hmmm interesting. To be perfectly honest, what I might have been hearing was just the turbo spooling down, or even something with the air intake, and I might have just mistakenly said it was the blow off valve. Listen closely in the video exactly where that comes up. I let off throttle, and I hear a little “pewww” Does your car sound like that too? Now I am genuinely curious lol
@@SeemsFair 😅 I didn’t think I went that crazy! But yes, this motor was thoroughly broken in with over 12,000 miles. Definitely not a brand brand new car. Even if the car is newer, I never do anything with someone’s car, either private person, or dealership without getting their permission first. They told me I could rip this thing around and have some fun! Of course, I always do my best to be respectful of other peoples belongings, because they are very kind and generous to let me drive their cars for a TH-cam video. Also, I never do something in someone else’s car that I wouldn’t do with my own. I’m not sure if that means much though, because I drive the hell out of my own cars and bike too 😁 Nonetheless, I really hope you enjoyed the video anyway! I agree! I also did a review on a brand new 2022 WRX. I felt like it drove very well, and it seemed like it good, practical car overall. I don’t absolutely hate how it looks, but it certainly does not look as good as this generation, especially in the STI trim.
😅😅😅Technically c-diff is the name of the bacteria that causes that 🤢🤮hahaha thanks for catching that. I've always thought that was hysterical ever since this generation came out in 2015. Yeah, they did… At least wheels are one of the easiest things to change on a car! Just have to make sure the offset is correct, and you can get some new wheels on the car in a few minutes! You can also probably get older STI wheels for cheaper than what you could sell those for too. Thanks so much for checking out the video as well! I found that out after the fact! Makes perfect sense Lol thank you for pointing that out though. To be honest, I found it funny either way haha
You can get the limited trunk springs too, they have less tension and makes it open normally.
@@nemrc4493 Makes total sense. I thought it was funny nonetheless!
Base sti came without a wing, it was subaru who forgot lol
@@kadend2669 No, the top trim Sti came with option of wingless. The Top trim came with sunroof. All base model sti came with a wing
I loved my sti limited, had a 2018, was a great car and I miss it.

The differential settings don't affect the steering. Intelligent mode to S#, steering feels the same. I have a 2021, my second STI.

Bought a 2021. It’s the perfect car.
CHAD
Bought a 2019. I agree, there is nothing better.
I have an entirely stock 2021 and it doesn't have a BPV/BOV sound at all. I wonder if anything was changed on this car, drop in filter maybe?

Dang man, you ripped that brand new car a new one. Was the motor broken in?

finally someone who stepped on it
I do my best! Hahah I have to make sure the viewer gets the best impression of how the car accelerates right?
Brilliant car and nicer looking than the latest version.

日本で販売されるWRX STIは一部の例外を除いてすべてEJ20です。
私はよりトルクのあるこのEJ257が好きです。
つい先日、私のBP5にもこのエンジンを搭載しました:)
