      It should have been axed. The BRZ can't get a turbo because of this thing, and the Corolla GR is gonna be light years better anyway. They can mass produce that Toyota in both sedan and hatch, and the Rex could have just been a rebadged version of it.

      I massively prefer the rugged offroad look vs. the fast-and-furious look of the VA, but I'm a WRX fan because of the rallying heritage. My only complaint is I wish the higher trims came with CrossClimate2's on the 18" rims, and had a set of 15 or 16 inch wheels with some sort of all-terrain tire. And vented discs/proper calipers, but that's easily sorted.

    Good choice. On a bang for your buck basis ,a tuned WRX is hard to go past ,particularly when your factor in the extra grip the of the AWD platform.
    Be careful with the suspension tune though , handling for Subies is all about getting rotation and firing them out of corners. Stiffening them too much without messing with stabiliser bars and you'll get understeer , big time.

    I'm paranoid about keeping my car's reliability as good as it can be. On the new WRX, I'd immediately swap out the brake pads for better ones, and change the brake fluid for a higher quality one. Maybe swap out the tires for ones better in the dirt and mud. (Hey, it's a rally performance car.) But at least in the beginning, I'd leave everything else alone, for now.

    the thing this whole review misses when they ask why did they put shit brakes, or why is the engine de tuned, is context. this was supposed to be in a line up with the STI all the way up until Subaru canned it. The STI wouldve had all the things the WRX missed because that was always the flagship. It wouldve had the brembos like they have had since 2001, Recaros, more boost and it was set to be making around 400hp. Without the STI, it kinda feels like Subaru half built the WRX, but they have been like this since the VA was released, the just had the STI with all the proper gear

    • @ciello___8307
      @ciello___8307 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @lepermessiyah5823
      @lepermessiyah5823 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ciello___8307 i wouldnt call it a detriment, but a reason as to why it comes down spec for certain things. the STI is the premium option that would normally get that gear, which is explains why the WRX didnt, because Subaru have to cut certain features to make it profitable and its reflected in the price.
      It seems as though since there is no STI now (when intially there wouldve been alongside the WRX) the WRX is put against cars that the STI normally would be put against, which is unfair in comparison, and another reason it sucks Subaru cut it.

    "Why would you want this to drive like a car from 25 years ago?"
    1) The 2000-2014 era (Particularly 07) was what I want to feel again. No one wants 25 years. They want the GOLDEN years.
    2) *Probably because this car is about as exciting as watching paint dry.* Anemic power, anemic boost, *YAWN*
    I drove my 05 WRX into the ground. I adored it. I had it for 11 years. The new WRX was about as appealing to me as white bread with salt on it and has ZERO race attitude. Couldn't be happier with my the new car I chose. 2022 Veloster N. The Veloster N is the polar opposite of this thing. It has attitude for DAYS. Thought I would hate FWD. I don't "LOVE" fwd, but the car's so insanely fun i literally don't notice. The N literally has the "gotta go fast" spirit and attitude that the older STI's had. @@Terminator4000 Starting with the L series, especially the Leone sedan, then they outdid those with the early Forresters. There was a tuning shop that did 500 horsepower on an ascent block swapped into an outback with STI drivetrain, unopened block. Melted a piston going lean from maxing out the DI, so I suppose this thing will be pretty reliably going to 400 if there’s no drivetrain limitations.

    I have a feeling that a lot of these criticisms that were spoke about were very intentional from Subaru. Leaves them a lot of headroom to improve each new year model of this generation. Wait to see the final year of this car. It'd be a monster compared to this '22.

      Civic Type R here - no issues with traction unless you're being stupid or it's wet.. and you're being mildly stupid. I'd rather 2WD with a good mechanical limited slip differential than AWD with open diffs front and rear. In the latter case you're still relying on electronics to brake the wheel on each axle that wants to spin up, so it's only half as crap as having 2WD with an open diff. The electronics are certainly getting better, but still not as good as mechanical LSDs.
