  • This week we’re back mountain biking the best Bike Park Wales jump trail - A470! Having completed the main straight the week before, this time we are progressing on the bottom of A470. This is where the trail gets more difficult. A lot of people are comparing the jumps at the bottom of A470 to Bike Park Wales black jump trails, such as Enter the Dragon.
There is a noticeable step up in difficulty after the main straight and this week I work with Fran to help her progress through the bottom section of A470… and do some whips on the main straight.
    About new A470:
BPW A470 has long been regarded as one of bike park wales most iconic trails, renowned for being one of bike park wales best jump trails. For 2024, bike park wales A470 has undergone significant changes, no longer sharing a start with Vicious Valley (a bike park wales red trail), extending the A470 red jump trail from the top of bike park wales, adjacent to Enter The Dragon all the way down to the fire road. This expansion introduces BPW's riders to a brand new section of jumps, berms, and fast flowing red downhill mountain bike trail, promising an exhilarating experience from start to finish.
A470 is bike park wales best jump trail. The A470 2024 changes have only improved the already legendary bike park wales jump trail.
One of the most significant A470 changes by the BPW trail crew in 2024 is the A470 Qualifier, which is now the A470 Gap jump. The A470 qualifier is now fenced in, to prevent people pushing around the feature that is intended to keep riders safe, by checking their skill level before they drop in to the trail.
The BPW A470 new section consists of a small gap jump qualifier, fast berms, some small fun table top mountain bike jumps and some roller doubles. The qualifier is the only mandatory gap.
The incredible BPW A470 main straight remains largely unchanged, with only minor tweaks to each of the A470 jumps.
    Trail Features:
Jump Measurements: Fran and James took the time to measure each jump on A470, providing precise details on their sizes and distances. From the smaller tabletops to the larger gaps, they give you the inside scoop on what to expect.
New A470 Qualifier Gap: One of the highlights of the new A470 is the introduction of the qualifier gap. This gap jump serves as a test of skill and bravery for riders, requiring precision and confidence to clear. Fran and James provide an in-depth analysis of this feature, discussing its size, approach, and landing.

Hahaha!! Well he did spend most runs shouting balls deep so you’re not wrong 😂

Essentially you dead sail over each one by relying on the speed and the bike to do the work. You need to learn to pop off the lip and do the opposite when you feel you’re too fast before you hurt yourself. Also air control and course correction. I do them on a hard tail. I’ve done every blue, red and half the blacks on a hard tail. It’s a £6000 hard tail, but still a hard tail.

Are you for real 😂 it May not come across well on GoPro but I do put input into the bike I know when to “pop” or “squash” according to speed. The fact I can judge this and place the bike where I want to land proves this. We spend a lot of time at the pump track braking this down. Using video analysis and breaking down techniques. So my riding is perfectly safe.
Clearly you didn’t want the whole video and judged this on the first 30 seconds or you would have seen my boyfriend (An experienced rider and mtb coach) coaching me later in the video.
I did however watch yours and safe to say I won’t be taking any riding advice off you.
Thanks for taking the time to engage with my video though it really helps the algorithm.
This comment probably doesn’t help your fragile ego though.
P.S No one cares how much you spent on your hardtail. How much fun you have on it is way more important.
