Now in its seventh generation BMW has moved with the times and is offering the new 5 Series with a fully electric version, the i5.

Your review is very accurate. Been driving this car (e-drive 40) and it is plenty of power for anyone. Yes the seats ar fabulous, as another reviewer said: “feels like you sit in the seat as opposed to sit on”.
Everything is so well designed and feels just right, and yes this is a better long distance car then my former i4.
Highly recommend this vehicle, even at base price.

Would you opt for the 19" or 20" aloys?
Do you not think that BMW has done some cost cutting here. For example, even the M50, head rest adjustment is manual and the front seat extension is also manual. Also some hard plastic bits, those window switches. Hard shinny plastic.. Why?

Matt, Being a BMW 'fan'.... as you know.....was unsure about the design of the new 5. Not least when the current model is nigh on perfection when it comes to ''executive'' cars. With a little uncertainty still lingering over the boot line as it drops from the 'C' pillar....
A more wedge shape perhaps? Anyway, minor point. Yes BMW have got it [overall] spot on. Shame cars just keep getting bigger! With exception of new Mini of course....slightly smaller dimensions i believe. Yes the 5 is the top of the list for those that require a continent 'crushing' car. Certainly beats anything the other two German brands can offer. Some of the models and modifications showing up on the internet. Oh wow! The new M5 will be something else for sure.
Everyone has always wined about new models.

This one is Black Sapphire.
I did not realize the 5 series predated the 3 series by three years.
Ouens, the colour grading is a little too much (so much so that red looks like orange).
There is just one thing that bothers me in this car, max speed... for a car so good in overall. At least a decent 210 klm /h...come on.
Ridiculous price. This is series 5, not a Porsche. For whom is this car exactly is not very clear.
Why are you comparing a bmw to a porsche? Of course, bmw has a higher quality than prosche, and the price didn't change that much for bmw , but next time, don't do it, my friend 😂
Have you looked a Porsche prices lately? You don`t get anything from Porsche for this price. Nothing at all.
@@michaelv6870 entry level Taycan at my local dealer is 99k€ if we are comparing to EVs as well. But entry level Cayman is around that much too. i5 would be 78k€ for an RWD and 108k€ for an xdrive. Looks quite comparable to me.
@@tdebug1 Cayman? You can`t compare a Cayman to a 5er. Compare the Cayman to the 4 coupe. Huge dfference in price.
200 miles range - “a long distance cruiser” ? geez, get a 740d and you get a 1000 in far more comfort leaving you with spare cash for fuel :/
Your getting your facts wrong it does 300-350miles in summer/spring the M60 does 290miles summer/spring the Edrive40 is the one to go for.
@@JAG2024-j4j you hi dude ? you seriously want to tell us that edrive40 gives you better mpg on long cruise than a 740d ? and maybe you can get 1000 miles between tanking on that hybrid dildo ?
It’s been a while this shape has come out .. but that front with headlights is really disappointing I get reminded of Toyota Corolla 2016 model … really hasn’t grown at all
