I'm not even religious but discovering this whole world of amazing and often over the top technical music has been the highlight of the past couple months.
Setting here listening to this song trying not to sing out loud and wake my mom up Amy Grant's one of my favorite singers. Had one of her songs I would sing Karaoke and they all liked hearing me sing it
I first saw this live rendition before I heard her studio cut off the album and was disappointed by the studio cut vs her singing it live. I seriously love this one so much more
God Bless you! Just outstanding!! Every time I hear this song I feel something in me I don’t know what it is but it always brings me to joyful tears, I hope it’s the Holy Spirit. Thank you
Oh my, this was the era for these loaded songs! I LOVED this song back in the 80's and I STILL love it today! This was the song that helped washed away the doldrums!
Amazing! I think this album REALLY launched Christian contemporary music. IT launched my interest in music. Rich Mullens adaptation of that Bach fugue was genius!. Michael and the keyboardist do a great job with it. I played it in church once.
YES! When I went to an Amy concert when I was 17 years old, Smitty was the opening for act. I definitely remember thinking that while Amy was great, Smitty was someone who really was one to watch!! Through the years Smitty's music has been played at all of our family's events: "Dreams" was our song, it was our first dance at our wedding reception. His instrumental CD which came out in ~2000 ranks up there as one of my very favorite albums. We used "As It Is in Heaven" while my husband and I participated in communion during our wedding ceremony. Throughout my difficult pregnancy, I was always reassured that my daughter was still with us with some good, strong kicks when I played Smitty's music. I passed my love for his music onto to my daughter as we bonded to "Wonder" and "A Million Lights" CDs. Just so many memories throughout our lives. Many artists have come and gone but MWS has always been our constant. We appreciate you MWS!! Thank you for so many great memories, good times and those which our gave comfort through our most difficult times (his dad and mine passed the same calendar day, 2 years apart). Thank you so much, Smitty. Our family loves ❤ you!
This is by far my *FAVORITE* Amy Grant song! 🎵 I had it on cassette and then finally got the CD 💿 in 1990ish. I would get in my car when the babies were not with me, and crank my stereo up as high as it could clearly go! This is one of those songs 🎵 that is best played LOUD!!
God Bless Queen Pretty Amy The Extremely Brilliant Extremely Royal Extremely Talented True Royal Legend Much Love And CONGRATULATIONS to all the Major Accomplishments
It’s so strange to see this, now. Like every middle school, youth group girl, I loved Amy. I first heard “Awesome God” at chapel in boot camp in ‘89 and I was hooked on Rich Mullins for life. Still, I had no clue that he wrote this until his incredible version in “Songs.” It’s so quiet and powerful and just a completely different song.
I saw Amy Grant in Los Angeles back in the early 80's, not sure it was this exact performance, but she was wearing this exact top. Gratitude to whoever posted this, brings back great memories!
I was just a youngster at around age 19, then, when first hearing this song here. I about fell in love with it's Melodic words of Inspiration then & the singer herself. But, she is, tho', & has been a very Blessed woman now of God. Thank you Ms. Grant, & Thank The Lord God Almighty Himself for you too, for without Him then, your beautiful presence would not've been able to Grace any of us out here thru' those beautiful & precious times then & now, of course. God Bless & Amen, in Jesus' Name Always, & Amen.
elibeth1211: Thanks I enjoy her singing as well. That song is for my wife who died a while back. In remembrance to her from me. I loved her a whole lot and still do now.
Phillip Carrillo: If you look up Amy Grant. You will see somehow she has fallen from living God. Amy Grant is Gay you know? Go to www.huffingtonpost.com/paul-odonnell/amygrantnewsal... In all essence. i love her song in praise to the Lord. But I don''t like her being Gay. As she was once was saved. But this is my opinion as a Christian I am however. .
Dame Colezs: Yes, I know Amy Grant is gay. I read about her in the past how she left God and went to live in Satan's domains by being Gay. She will answer to God. That is what she has to worry about . And so does everyone else have to answer to God someday. Read Leviticus 18:22 and Leviticus 20:13. Or even 1st Corinthians 6:9. These verses show why it is wrong in God's eyes to be a homosexual in Gods eyes. Of course I am sure you know that already.

The greatest in CCM ever!!!! No one did, does it, or will do it better than Amy Grant! A trailblazer in every since of the word!!!! God bless!!
A great song by the late Rich Mullins.
Love your voice Amy Grant🎉
Amy must be in her early 20's here and that's also a very young Michael W. smith on the keyboard solo at the beginning.
This is the song that made Amy Grant really famous plus El Shadday! Rich Mulllin's song originally with a unique interpretation by Amy.
El Shaddai is one of my favorites
My favorite Christian song of all time!
