One thing you might have missed is the weather difference between the two cities. It seems like Nha Trang might be a bit drier, not as much rain and cooler during the summer and warmer during the winter? Oh and also the proximity to the airport, Da Nang being more convenient to the airport with more international flights than Nha Trang....
"All kinds of international restaurants that are REALLY expensive". Fell off my chair laughing, caught my breath, climbed back up on my chair, hit the pause and rewind, called my boss over and played for her the "$6, $8, $10, $15 for a plate". I Love Da Nang! (Dec 19) I was standing on the beach road promenade in shorts and a short-sleeved shirt in the drizzling rain. I felt peace. I felt I could do this every day! Many locals had on winter coats. I was watching the locals on the beach sand doing Falun Gong, (a Buddhist meditation with movements). My only concern for the day was where I was going to eat dinner and where I was going to get my one or two-hour massage. Just an amazing, place!

Thanks guys, i was wondering about that. In fact I asked you a while ago. I want to go 3 months next winter and it will be Da Nang. Also because I am a fan of Hoi An.
There are lots of Tourists in Da Nang from Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and China. They arrive in large groups at 4/5 star hotels. And there are lots of 5-star hotels right on the beach too in da nang. but you need to cross a major road to get to the beach.
I've been in Nha Trang for the last 2 months and it's way too touristy for me. As you mentioned it's more expensive..on par with Saigon costs in my opinion. Being single here hasn't been easy to meet local women probably due to them thinking most everyone is just on vacation. Lastly, the the nightlife is VERY expensive at the dance clubs(on par with cities in the US and cater to the Chinese) and live music isn't easy to find. Very beautiful beaches and quaint coffee shops a few blocks off the beach as well as closer proximity to Ho Chi Minh kept me here, but I won't be coming back very often.

Are there American cities you might compare these cities to? I saw another video where expats living in Da Nang were interviewed. One couple said Da Nang reminded them a lot of San Diego. They'd been loving living in Da Nang for the past 6? years and lived in SD for some years prior.
For climate, sure -- although Da Nang is much hotter than San Diego. Economically though, it's night and day. Might be better to compare to Tampa or Miami, though Da Nang never gets as cool as Florida or as oppressingly humid in the summer.

My reason for commenting on their useful videos is to be helpful and to clarify what Vietnam is really like for those considering an overseas move, like I made. Vietnam is not for everyone, it is not an easy country in SEAsia to acclimatize to for many reasons - Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Philippines are better entry points. I lived most of my life in northern and southern Calif, traveled 25+ rich and poor countries, lived 8 years on south and central Vietnam and Bangkok. Dan's and Qiang Hui's channels attracts many who have never been to SEAsia, and some decide to move based only on youtube videos. Which of These 2 places are more quiet? I have heard from many tourists that its very loud also in the evening because of Traffic, construction Work and loudspeakers .
Those two cities are always compared, what I don't get is why some other coastal cities are left out in such conversations. Vung Tau is a nice place with the same population as Nha Trang's. There are also two smaller places, which are Ha Long and Sam Son. They are very nice and beautiful, especially Ha Long with the famous bay.
Dan - you mention you have a favorite neighborhood in Nha Trang & I thought you said you would leave it in the comments, but I am not seeing....forgive me if it is there and I am missing it, but curious what it is.

Da Nang and Hoi An are just 30 minutes apart. Their beaches are very similar as are their weather. I would say what is behind the beach is what is different. The part of Hoi An behind the beach is smaller and more intimate, small town feel. The town behind Da Nang beach has many more restaurants choices and nightlife. The Nha Trang Beach is nicer as is the park between the beach and the town. The Nha TRang Beach is also more touristy but not crazy overtouristed because it is so wide and long. The surf is smaller in Nha TRang because the islands in front calms water. The weather is better year round in Nha Trang.
Thank you for this comparison. I am currently deciding between those cities. How is your impression beach wise? I thought the beaches in Da Nang are more windy and not the best for swimming?
Hi, thanks for the video, very informative, as always. You mentioned a quieter, beautiful neighbourhood in Nha Trang. Could you please tell us what it's called? Thank you.
If you look at the fact is foreigners are choosing Da Nang more than Nha Trang . You find more expat are living in Da Nang and little are living in Nha Trang . There was a huge gaps there if you count the numbers . This is the best answer I found . I owned a house in Nha Trang , my wife is born and raised in Nha Trang that why I bought house in Nha Trang for her .
I was in both cities 5 or 6 years ago and I thought Danang was more lively than Nha Trang. Then there was a lot of building in Nha Trang and it was slower paced. I prefer Danang because Hoi An is right next door.
The report with the link to the neighborhood with google map is on the first link below the Nha Trang video, as always: th-cam.com/video/lStzS8b_AnU/w-d-xo.html
Do you know Quy Nhon City? It is located between Nha Trang and Da Nang, Quy Nhon is developing very fast and it is also very similar to Nha Trang and Da Nang

Do you have any recommendations? I like Hoi An and have spent a couple of months there in the past but didn't like Da Nang as for me it was just a busy city. I know Hoi An can be really busy but it is easy to get on a bicycle and get away from the hustle and bustle. So, I arrived in Nha Trang today and it really isn't what I like. Pretty much the same as Da Nang - constant noise of traffic and not relaxing. I don't really want to get straight back on a plane so is there anywhere quieter and with charm that is near to Nha Trang? On google it mentioned quiet resorts but I am thinking more of a whole town or area that is quieter and has some character.
@@VagabondAwake Thanks for your reply. I am in Nha Trang at the moment so am looking for somewhere quieter near here. On google maps It looks less busy nearer the port so I might take a walk down there later.
I never get sick overseas. Some people get sick a couple of times the first few years and then adapt. You will have to travel to find out which one you are.
Crossing between those two cities for my family. What can you recommend for someone who wanna have chill beach days with his family without stress and cheap?
Have you visited the Cam Ranh / Cam Thuan area yet? Apparently it is an upcoming new resort destination with amazing beaches, history and restaurants. Wikipedia weather grid shows it has much less rainy months than both Da Nang and Nha Trang.
Cam Ranh (where the airport for Nha Trang is located) is just weird. Pull up your google map, view from space, and see the road along the beach side of the peninsula? The green squares are beach resorts. About a dozen. The sandy squares are undeveloped or abandoned beach resorts. The southern part of the peninsula is mostly or all military still, it was a major deep water port in the war, probably restricted, mostly sand dunes. The river is full of fish farms, and further is mostly undeveloped. Cross the bridge to Cam Ranh (we rented a motorbike) and the town is poor, no tall buildings, I doubt any foreigners live or visit. A desolate place, where tourists have no reason to leave their resorts. At least that was our impression, I hope I am ignorant of some cool reason to visit.
Da Nang has a flat wide beach with noticeable high and low tides. Nha Trang has a narrow steep beach. Both times I went to Nha Trang, there were no waves. It truly looked like a lake not an ocean!
If you have been around me long enough, you know Vietnam is one of my favorite countries in the world. But Vietnam has no retirement visa. Yet, every time we visit Vietnam, we meet many older Western people who have been here for years. Many of you asked why I didn’t ask Mark what visa he has. I have never met anyone that is overstaying a visa in Vietnam and Mark is not overstaying. Everyone I meet has permission to be in Vietnam. If you are a rule follower, you should only follow the official rules to stay in a country. That is what I recommend (and that is what Mark has done). But if you ever fall in love with a country and want to stay ... ask a few expats off camera how they stay in a country without overstaying their visa. Many people all over the world find ways to stay in countries they love. But if it doesn’t sound perfectly legit to me, I never promote it on my channel ... for two reasons. One, I don’t want to disrupt the lives of older people who are happily living in a country somewhere by publicly sharing controversial solutions that could get shut down if they became widely known because of me. Two, I don’t want to publicly encourage a large number of people to use the same controversial solutions ... it might embarrass officials and place me on a shit list. Instead, do exploratory visits, ask ex-pats questions off-camera, decide where you want to live and pick the best way for you personally to make that happen. That said ... I will be sharing more details about the various ways people are staying in Vietnam long-term as I learn more off-camera from the expats I meet here. Make sure to jump on my email list if you want to hear more controversial things that I am much more likely to share in an email after I have learned more.

Hello from Bangkok...great video.
Dan - you mention you have a favorite neighborhood in Nha Trang & I thought you said you would leave it in the comments, but I am not seeing....forgive me if it is there and I am missing it, but curious what it is.

Great information!!
Hi. Nice video. I just spent some time in Hoi An & Da Nang, and really enjoyed it! Can you comment on which beach is nicer, or is it comparable?
@@VagabondAwake hi there! I was referring to Da Nang vs Nha Trang 😎
Thank you for this comparison. I am currently deciding between those cities. How is your impression beach wise? I thought the beaches in Da Nang are more windy and not the best for swimming?
I prefer Nha Trang beach.
Hi, thanks for the video, very informative, as always. You mentioned a quieter, beautiful neighbourhood in Nha Trang. Could you please tell us what it's called? Thank you.
First link in the comments below the Nha Trang video includes a google map. :-)
Good to listen too.
They are both great. It is worth it to see them both before deciding. :-)
I was in both cities 5 or 6 years ago and I thought Danang was more lively than Nha Trang. Then there was a lot of building in Nha Trang and it was slower paced. I prefer Danang because Hoi An is right next door.
I like Da Nang❤
Great video. What’s the name of Nha Trang neighborhood you like that is so charming? Thank you 🙏🏼
The report with the link to the neighborhood with google map is on the first link below the Nha Trang video, as always: th-cam.com/video/lStzS8b_AnU/w-d-xo.html
Do you know Quy Nhon City? It is located between Nha Trang and Da Nang, Quy Nhon is developing very fast and it is also very similar to Nha Trang and Da Nang
Thanks for the info! I'll check it out next time. Do you live there?

Thank you good info
Great insight into 2 great cities, any actual hotel recommendations in My An Danang?
Thanks 🙏
On my full report. Google Vagabond Buddha Da Nang.
@@VagabondAwake thanks very much 🙏🙏
I’m from vancuover Canada few more years I will be retired I wonder where to go Da nang ,nha Trang or Panama?im a Vietnamese over 40 years to live in Canada.thx
I like Nha Trang better.
Danang > Nah Trang 🎉 But both are really nice.
Outstanding.
Heading to Da Nang today - bring it on. Feet on the ground for lunch 😂.
In ho chi ming right now hows the weather in nha trang plan on heading there tomorrow
Beautiful.
Check out My An Beach Community in Da Nang.
@@VagabondAwake Thanks for your reply. I am in Nha Trang at the moment so am looking for somewhere quieter near here. On google maps It looks less busy nearer the port so I might take a walk down there later.

would seafood allergies be a big concern or are there establishments where western preparation standards are followed?
I never get sick overseas. Some people get sick a couple of times the first few years and then adapt. You will have to travel to find out which one you are.
Crossing between those two cities for my family. What can you recommend for someone who wanna have chill beach days with his family without stress and cheap?
Da Nang for a family, Nha Trang for singles.
💛💛💛
I love living in Da Nang.
Show more beach, more locations in your next vids please, compared to talking to the camera.
Ok next time
I Love Danang Beach
I'm coming to Da Nang in March. Will you guys still be there?
We left Vietnam about 3 weeks ago.
Which location has the best beaches?
I liked the beaches at Nha Trang better.
How does the heat and humidity compare in the various locations??
Weather is slightly better in Nha Trang.
Thank you
You're welcome
I want 2 go but I'm so worried about China now acting up...a lot of tension.
I can't imagine China marching into Vietnam
Have you visited the Cam Ranh / Cam Thuan area yet? Apparently it is an upcoming new resort destination with amazing beaches, history and restaurants. Wikipedia weather grid shows it has much less rainy months than both Da Nang and Nha Trang.
I have not.
No comment on the beach in either area?!
The beaches are similar. Just a little better year round weather in Nha Trang.
Both are amongst the best for both holiday and living. Both has world class beaches, all levels of accommodation and restaurants.
Da Nang has a flat wide beach with noticeable high and low tides. Nha Trang has a narrow steep beach. Both times I went to Nha Trang, there were no waves. It truly looked like a lake not an ocean!
Does either Da Nang or Nha Trang have a 400 metre synthetic running track where an athlete can train for track and field?
@dannyho6786 Unfortunately, a treadmill would not cut it. I need a proper track to do block starts.
I don't know. I just go to the a regular gym.
I like the way Paul old dog new tricks says..."Nah Trang" 😮🎉
Old dog is entertaining. :-)
Da nang may be better
Danang sounds difficult for expats.
Da Nang is one of the easiest places in the world for expats. :-)
There doesn’t seem to be any way for the average guy to get a long term visa without getting married.
But if it doesn’t sound perfectly legit to me, I never promote it on my channel
... for two reasons.

Which one has fast, stable, good Wi-Fi?
Both. :-)
Đà Nẵng is the right choice......the beaches are better than Nha Trang........it's pronounced nha chang
Sounds like you know what you want. That's good.
Too many Russians in Nha Trang. Also the beach is nicer in Da Nang so it's a no brainer.
Thanks for your thoughts.
👍✅🙀✅👍
So where do you actually live, where’s your base ? 🤔
No base. We slowly move forward through the world.
Chiang - "foot" or "food"
?
For me nha trang :)
Da Nang better! Too many Rus@ians in NT
The Russians don't seem to bother me.
Funny. In Saigon expat groups, it is the Nha Trang Chinese tourists that get complaints.

Thailand. Contrast these two countries and avoid seeing them as similar. One’s safe and fun and the other is…enough said.
Thailand. Philippines has lots of hurricane risk and terrible local food.
Only you can answer that question. Too many variables. Also you can't compare a whole COUNTRY, just locales.
@@formica. For a first time traveler to Asia. Which is better Phuket or Borocay Island? I like good, Buddhism is nice, history and culture, Muy Thai kickboxing is nice but I love Filipino food and Filipino people are some of the nicest people I've ever met. Which do you recommend and why?
