The flow state. The process. It’s the journey, not the destination. Your Boulevard. My 5 motorcycles. Selling my last Harley-Davidson at age 75 seven months ago ended a lifetime journey on 2 wheels. But each ending needs a new beginning. And so drones and other passions lead me on in the flowing river of life, never to dry up or be choked in a stagnant pond. Keep riding my friend and keep painting an ever-expanding picture.
George! thank you for sharing buddy. There’s dozens of guys here in the community that are moto fanatics AND drone junkies. Super cool.
How you handling giving up the bikes, if I may ask? I'm a little way off, but it's appeared on my own radar. Trying to ignore it still, but it will be reality sooner or later...
People watched Casey’s vlogs and fell in love with his style without realizing all the effort he did inside of the point he was making. You do the same thing. It’s appreciated.
Tyler! Dang man I really appreciate that ma friend. Welcome to our FLYING CAMERA CREW.
Love this, as always. No one covers the creative aspect of drone photography like you do, very inspiring. Thank you!
I really enjoy your videos. Always look forward to your new videos. Appreciate your enthusiasm and love for what you do. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
ahh right on! Thank you for letting me know my goofy little tutorials found a home with you. Any specific topic you would like me to cover in an upcoming episode?
Awesome music to that little scene! I love the gritty scenery just as much as the nature shots.
I’m liking the black and white. But I can really see how the music makes the scene. Thank you, love the videos. Learning so much.
I was totally captivated from beginning to end. Again great video Bud
I love your philosophic approach to our artform. It is indeed an experiential flow… Always love your videos Ted. Please keep them coming 🙏👍
Cant wait to see the hospital one. I think some other drone youtubers have been there before. Have fun!!
Wow, the price for your course is super fair. More than fair. Dude, you are a king!
Jason I see you joined the masterclass. Welcome aboard. I’ll see you on the platform. Thank you.
Thands for the examples on design. Re color your eye and brain will automatically be attracted to any brighter color relative to the intended subject. Example. A yellow window frame next to a subway track is a distraction when your video motion is following the tracks
Great shots of the NYC Skyline, bridges, birds, tracks and trains. I always learn a lot with your videos. Thanks and Kudos, Ted.
Captain! Thank you my friend. I would love for you to join us for our Long Island meet up episode. I think Jeff Noreman is reaching out to you.
Captivating dronography as usual Tedster!
1000% this. All the bitchin gear in the world doesn't matter if you don't have a compelling shot. Some of the work you've gotten on this simple mini 3 is amazing with your creativity and eye for picking out just the right scene. This is why I keep coming back to this channel, always learning.
I love how you weave together so many coverage shots (including stills) in the first 90 seconds before jumping into the Chapter 1 narrative.
hey John. that’s really helpful to know you like that. Will continue it. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment ma friend.
I always learn so much from your videos Ted!
hey Marcus. Many thanks my left coast friend.
Great job as always Ted!
Great video Ted and enjoy your enthusiasm for your craft. 👏👍
Lee thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I’m super grateful. Any specific topic you want me to cover in the future?
It would be helpful to know how you put videos together to make them interesting please? I’m still just videoing as that’s my excitement at the moment. 😂
Another great learning video Ted! Thank you so much on teaching all of us on the “quest” of great cinematography.
Another brilliant video, your vids are the best drone vids on TH-cam! I love your statement "value the process"! It is so true. I've been shooting film and printing in a darkroom for 40+ years precisely because I love the process. But now my flying camera has given me a whole new way of seeing things. You da man Ted!
Love all your videos.....Its amazing how you keep your drone in a straight line over the tracks.....you must have a steady hand.
Fantastic insights man, loved it!
Your enthusiasm and presentation is infectious, and great value for people too! ✌️
Great shots, Ted. Good to see you again
Love your videos and ideas in your drone shots. I do want to tell you, I lived in NYC until I left for college to Florida, I’m glad I left. NYC is a beautiful place with respect to an artist and photographer’s point of view. So much to view and observed with all the interesting creative graffiti and building structures, both new and old. Give me the beach brother, that has been my zen. Thank you for your outstanding videos, you are able to show NYC at a different and beautiful prospective with drone videography. Continue to keep it real, and Keep it safe.
I always learn something watching your videos! Can't wait for the next one my friend!
Great video Ted, always enjoy your passion for the flying camera.
Hey Ted, thanks for another inspiring and educational video ..loving it 👍
I feel a great connection with your attitude to these wonderful flying cameras...you quite often pop up in my mind during flights.
Cheers Ted!
Tim i appreciate that.
Really great footage. Another great video 👍👍 thank you ted
Another awesome video, you Rock Ted 👍 !
Ted you always have some super cool ideas up your sleeve, totally like it, very creative ... and inspiring ! thanks so much for sharing ! Keep them coming !
Mare curaj ai avut printre atâtea fiare omule.🤔.FELICITĂRI!
You're so right Ted. Good new gear is fun too though. It can open doors. Something as simple as a mount for an action camera for your car, truck, or bike can change perspectives.
You find the best subjects! I appreciate you and your creativity, Ted! You really inspire me! ✨️
The black and white gives it the hole New York vibe.
Good one Ted. Great Video!
Again, another great video. Just thought I'd add my 2 cents about the pigeons. I picked this nugget from another drone YTuber, so I can't (and don't want to) claim it - but I had problems with seagulls in Spain - like you, I don't harass them at all, but especially in springtime, they become very aggressive - also eagles in the Dolomites in Italy. The trick is red high reflective tape ( something you might put on a bicycle) - thin strips stuck on top, bottom, left, right and v thin strips on prop arms. It completely solved the problem - the gulls still squawk a bit but keep their distance.
PS do you need special permission to fly over & around NY? I always worry in urban spaces.
Nice to see we had a similar mode of Trend recently ✌🏻 great video; insightful topic 👍🏼
Good thoughts on better shots versus better equipment. I see so many people reaching for a better drone instead of improving their cinematic skills. Nice to hear some sanity. Great work.
I love the energy you bring to your videos, I have become a better drone pilot from your videos and the knowledge you share has been greatly appreciated.
Yes he has an amazing energy!
Fantastic footage Ted. Just ordered my first drone and love the fact that you explain things in such an easily digestible way. Your view on how to simplify and capture such wonderful movies fills me with inspiration. I’m hooked on your approach and enthusiasm. Can’t wait to try some ideas out for myself. Thanks again and keep em coming.
Paul thats amazing news! congrats on your first drone. Welcome to our FLYING CAMERA CREW. I checked out your channel. No content yet. I would LOVE to see what you’re creating. Did your new drone arrive?
Brilliant as usual
Great Video! Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I love your videos as I strive for great drone shots! Your optimism is contagious
i appreciate that. my dorky energy really seems to resonate with people. thank you for watching and being part of the community here.
Fantastic video, Ted. I really enjoyed the various footage and color grading to get my creative juices going. Also, what a totally different experience of living in the city vs in the woods. Thanks!
Bob thank you for watching my west coast friend. And I’m diggin’ the Zen vid.
@@TedNemeth It's my pleasure. BTW, I have enjoyed learning from your master class. Great job of putting it together for beginners and advanced dronies.
I think I enjoy this channel more and more each time I view a new video. You are one of the greats Ted!
Tony you made my day my friend. I need it. Thank you.
Love this. Great episode Ted. Editing and Colour grading on point. Very inspiring 👌
hey ma man. i appreciate it.
Great video Ted. Always an interesting tutorial 👌👍
Love your ideas! I get too focused on the technical and sometimes loose sight of what could be really nice shots. Going to change how I think when flying. Also, going to sign up and take your course.
Since I was one of your *local drone cowboys at the mental institution,* I am sooo looking forward seeing your footage! Super excited!
Udor! great seeing you brother.
@TedNemeth Yeah! Looking forward to the next time, when you are back! 🙂👍🏻
Man you are so lucky to live in NYC. So much to shoot with the drone. I liked the dark colours, b&w is dramatic but the colour adds interest. Like # 508!!!
This was deep bro... I didnt expect this when I clicked on the video
Another amazing video, keep them coming please
right on! thank you my friend. I’m finishing one right now that I’m pretty pleased with. I’m excited to share it with you & our gang here. Welcome aboard sire.
TED,, Good to see you FAMILY!!! Nice video!!!
Well said, Ted. I always learn something new from you. Great video. 👍
thank you Yvonne. (it is Yvonne correct?). And you had a drone issue recently?
Brilliant my friend, enjoy your videos 👍
Ted, living in New York you don't need to build the sets for your cinematography. They are all around. I love that. Nice shots as always. Greetings from the boring Caribbean my friend 😅
I thought NYC was very drone unfriendly. This is nice to know. I would like to come here and fly sometime
Love the excitement in your video. Definitely a follow.
Lori welcome aboard my flying filmmaker friend.
The greatest template in the world to work from - just unlimited options in NYC.
Pete thank you for the support my friend.
Great shots and super video. You make me long for my hometown of Brooklyn. Great work!
no way. right on Ken. But holy crap your FL shots look like paradise. I’ll take palm trees and warm weather all day any day.
Thanks for another great post. I always look forward to your new videos. You always give great advice. Thanks for your knowledge. I always "expect" it... lol
Richard man I really appreciate that. I will continue to always raise the bar in terms of value provided. Thank you for the support.
I absolutely love your video's Ted!
I'm trying to learn how to fly and edit my camera with props and GPS and your videos are a great source of help.
Not every time can be a great time.
Good luck with your next shoot 👍
welcome aboard to our FLYING CAMERA CREW. Is there a specific topic you’d like me to cover in an upcoming episode?
👏👏👍🏼😄 you’re the man Ted. Thanks for inspiring me to do more😄
Philip i truly appreciate that ma friend. We are all creators here together.
Cooooooool vid ! Title caught me !
I’m only into the video for five minutes and I’m already blown away. Such talent search. SAS I am now going to subscribe from Montana
hey Ernie! wow thank you my flying filmmaker friend. Welcome aboard. You live over in Montana? Looks beautiful there. Need to visit one day.
Your videos show just what a drone is meant for. A camera in the sky! Before I lived on LI. I used to travel those "L" trains and subways. Lived in Williamsburg for 14 years as a kid. Myrtle ave was where we shopped. Lived at Rutedge and Marcy ave. Thanks for all these informative videos!!!
hey buddy. I didn’t know you were an NYC kid. very cool.
hey did you watch the last 1 minute of this video? I putting together a Long Island crew for an upcoming episode. Would love for you to join. Send me and email and I’ll include you on the text thread. we’re still figuring out a date that works for everyone.
ted@filmingoptimism.com
I did send you an email as it looks like lots of fun. Is it mainly for flying FPV?@@TedNemeth
Very interesting, thanks
As always love your energy Ted, such an important mindset to have and avoid collecting gear. I preferred the colour grade over black and white, totally agree about black and white being the go-to, but that scene just looked so much better with the broader colour range, in my opinion. Keep rocking out these videos man, you give me good laugh every time.
hey Matt. Thank you for sharing. And glad I could make you laugh. We ain’t curing cancer here. Gotta have some fun.
Great video! re: which color grade... depends on the project, right? Stand alone? I really liked both! I could see using the B-W in one project and the color version in a completely different project.
I like to approach the scenes I shoot in with minimal expectations. Sure, I'll come in with an idea of what I would like, but I'm not married to that outcome. If everything aligns to make that vision happen, great. More often than not an element I have no control over means I'm not going to be able to get what I envisioned. So then I leave it to my years of experience shooting on the ground to find some other way to find something else to make it interesting. I like to think of it as creative problem solving to work within the limitations the situation. Sometimes it's even better than what was expected and sometimes it's just a practice run for the next time. A good example was shortly after I got the drone, I had a trip to Las Vegas and I went through the whole process to get proper permission to fly near the High Roller ferris wheel. Only I realized too late that I didn't ask for enough height clearance. So I'm shooting a cloudless sunset and only enough height clearance to go as high as the middle of the wheel. My creative solution was to get further back and align the setting sun with the center of the wheel. The shot ended up as a finalist in drone photography contest and was selected to appear in the county fair. So a situation I didn't have a lot of hope for still yielded a portfolio photo. I'd love another crack at shooting there but haven't been back yet.
the B&W makes things look dangerous but yet awesome!
hey John. I agree. thanks for watching. I’m thinking my next episode might be entirely black and white.
Been waiting on this class, I’m in!!!
Ken welcome aboard! I look forward to working with you.
@@TedNemeth about 1/2 way through and great info. I’ll suggest to our photo club for those that fly drones!!!!
In those areas I think that colour works best, so many variances and textures etc. ✌️
yes i agree Roger. I THINK the different colors help separate all the busy details a bit?
Absolutely brilliant video, love it! I’ll be crossing the pond from Europe to NY for holiday and plan to bring my mini3 pro. Am I allowed to fly as a tourist in NYC the way you did? I’d love to!
Man - I've had an agressive hawk after me, clipped one of my propellers even - and in California in my area we have green parrots that get super agressive also. No pigeons yet!
Another informative, entertaining and well-put-together video.
hey i appreciate that. I had to check where Crystal River is located. Wow. that is some STUNNING land. That whole coast line is paradise. Need to get down there more. Fly safe buddy.
this is inspiration. so i subscribed. simple as that
This TX Drone Cowboy just enrolled in your MasterClass! Next best thing to an autographed first edition of "Ted Nemeth's Philosophy of Life via a Flying Camera" Love your content, Ted!
Scott welcome aboard cowboy. I look forward to working with you in the MasterClass. I’ll see you on the platform ma friend.
Great tips for those flying camera videos. And great tips on dealing with real life videography. All the best my friend ❤
thank you buddy. your fog time lapse was pretty rad.
@@TedNemeth thank you very much ❤️ we're sort of lucky here and can get four seasons in just one day 😉👍
Just GR8! Impossible to hunt for shots like that where I´m located.
Thanks for sharing this video
Sensi,
Just my 2 cents: Pigeons are an underrated bird just like seagulls and beautiful in slo-mo. I prefer the color shot above the tracks but i like the b&w shot under the tracks. Im keeping my Air 2s and Mini 2 based on your philosophy and am working on my cinematography even though I REALLY want to buy something new. Great class as usual!
Domo Arigato
Rick! man you been traveling a lot lately. I’m rarely on Instagram but you pop up in my feed when I do log on.
Thanks for sharing. I’m curious…..do you have plans for …like a larger personal project of some shape/form? I think you have my email. Send me a note.
Great video Ted, the pigeons flying around the church steeple shot is epic! I have either bees or crows that like to attack my drone.
Glen! wow so cool to see you here. High praise from you, a true professional. How’s your drone experience been? Just recently got your first yes?
Yes sir, I've been trying to upload stuff to youtube during downtime and I love watching your channel for all the latest drone tips for real bro! So yeah been playing around with the Mini 3 Pro, got part 107 certified, yada yada. Just back from a shoot over some of the waterways here in FL and almost lost the drone trying to land on a sketchy old floating dock. Got to learn to catch this thing out of the air. You got a video for that? @@TedNemeth
Wow! I love this man🔥
yeeeeeah buddy. I appreciate all your support ma friend.
Yeah brother!!
Curing my GAS with SAS… got it! 😎 I appreciate you and your teaching style so much. And cool bike! Look8ng forward to the next episode. ✌️
Chris i appreciate it ma man.
Do you have to have a part 107 get waivers to fly in those places? These are some great spots!
Another great. . .
LOVE your storytelling style.
Tip. . .don't let perfection be the enemy of good.
Your character can entertain without the video. ❤
Whoaa…. That is cool! Weren’t you worry about GPS signal taking off from under the tressel and brick buildings?
Excellent perspective as always! Can't wait to see what you come up with around the abandoned mental institution! Looks like it might be a good spot for some FPV!
Looking forward forward to that creepy place. Did I see a chair IN the ceiling? Better call the ghostbusters 😂
Like the color grading. Wonder how a grunge texture in areas would look.
Ted is nailing it! Are you still shooting with th 3pro? The shot are great.
Another good one Ted. Watch out for the drone cops who tell you that you sinned flying over cars.
Incredible content! Always learn a ton.
Im in Atl and would love to do this. Do you ever have issues with people being aggressive? Obviously we fly away and as respectful as possible.
Thanks for your time
Good stuff good stuff
Fun video. Do you live where this video is shot? I would so love to come and do some street photography in NYC. Never been there. I live in the sticks lol.
phantomrain in the house, I think the rules , have really challenged how cinemaitc we can be while flying. People ,cars , planes , ect.
i totally agree. I’m thinking about covering this topic in my next episode about where does our hobby change from just documenting our environment into creating art? I like this topic. Let’s see if i can figure out something half-assed to say about it.
You’ve been a mentor to me. You convinced me to work on my creative instincts of recording the footage, rather than FIRST purchasing all the ND filters and becoming great at color grading like many of the drone nerds on TH-cam have suggested.
ahhh man. best comment ever. I love that.
And lucky you….San Diego is stunning. DANG i miss the west coast. I plan on moving back permanently at some point soon.
Great video. Awesome philosophy of cinematography. However, I struggled with you calling trains "subways". Crazy New Yorker lol
