When developing Mega Man 7, Inafune said, "Let's make the final boss very insanely hard!" The devs agreed, and it was so hard that even the devs couldn't beat it without using E-Tanks. *Inafune had NOT forgotten this when developing Mega Man 8.*
And basically after 1:16 all hell breaks loose. I literally got over 30 game overs on this part. Thank God for continues, but it sucks how there's no save point until after you get past the snowboarding part.
I love how the game conveniently forgets to tell you about the fact that you can change the angle of where you kick the Mega Ball. THAT would've been a nice thing to know beforehand.
+Trogadorsaysay2 Yeah, I've played this game on PSX so many times and I somehow never knew this! This boss was always annoying because I had to ricochet the Mega Ball off of the wall to hit the middle sections. I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't know that!
+Jedd Ahyoung Same here. Also never knew you could still fire the buster even when you have another weapon equipped! Then again I am playing the one in the Anniversary Collection.
Oh god, this stage made me go through so many emotions all at once. I couldn't deal. I tired to beat it so much the music still rings in my head till this day and that was almost 15 years ago.
As a kid, I never even THOUGHT to use the Mega Ball, so I always beat it using Ice Wave when it was on the sides (and the Rush Air Raid thing to help speed it up). The fight always took SO LOOOOONG.
It took 48 tries to recreate what I beat as a kid and after unable to sleeping pounding my head hearing jump jump slide slide jump jump..I did it...only to hear something break inside of me as it threw me back to beginning of jump ump....I believe this is where the souls games got their inspiration because it is just...merciless..who would create such a thing?..jump jump slide slide. This stage will forever haunt me...
This was very helpful thank you 🙂 Playing for the first time on the Switch (Legacy Collection 2). Never wanted a Playstation growing up (Nintendo purist lol). This first section is killing me lol 😭
my uncle trashed talked me so much in this section, so i said "Okay, "I'D LIKE TO SEE YOU TRY TO BEAT THIS THEN!" angrily. HEHE, it was worth it cause he died 80 times.
good gosh! i never finished mm8 cause of this stage even though i was able to beat this stage a few times. the problem is i could never remember the sequences. i eventually drew a map to remember every move i had to made a completed it. personally i think this game was kinda thrown together.
Years later here I am playing the Legacy Collection 2 and I never knew for the life of me that you could change the trajectory of that damn ball by pushing up!!!! Made this a peice of fucking cake!!!!
@castlevania37 This is being played via emulator, so I am using my own gamepad... I have actually never used a Sega Saturn controller before. XD I imagine it would not be difficult to adapt to, though.
I wonder why people hate this game? It could be nostalgia goggles on my end, since it was the first Megaman game I've ever played, but while it's way easier compared to the other games it isn't that bad.
@@gabgab1240 yeah the snowboard sections aren't very good but compared to some of the other stuff in the classic series the game is pretty easy overall.
The horrible voice acting is one thing that heavily brings this game down. Another thing is that people hate the weapons and I don't blame them. Boring melee weapons, boring screen wipe, basically the only unique weapons are Tornado Hold and Mega Ball and even then Mega Ball sucks to use and Tornado Hold is still kinda boring. This game is absolutely underrated but it's not wrong to say it is one of the worst Mega Man games (not THE absolute worst though).
It took me HOURS to get past the snowboard part. One piece of advice I can give is that it doesn’t matter if you jump at the end of a platform, as long as you jump and hold right the entire time you’ll usually make a jump. Try to keep to the left of the screen so you can see what’s coming up. If you hold right the entire time it will be impossible.
....wha-? In all my 4 years of playing this game I never knew you could change the angle of the mega ball -____-. I always had to memorize where to stand in order to hit the boss :-/ Thanks for the tip I guess ^^
I’ve just been watching you trailblazer this game, while I struggle on the snowboarding section. Though I got here with like 10 hours straight of playing
The thing I do not understand is why the bosses in Wily's Fortress use the robot master theme. Duo even had his own theme. The boss for the intro stage uses mini-boss data, so that's why it uses the mini-boss theme, and also why it comes back unlike the other robot masters. I do see Yellow Devil Theme from Mega Man The Power Battle fitting for the bosses in Wily's Fortress.
Oh man I didn't think to use the ball. I used a combination of the bombs (to kill the missile launching things), the tornado (to get up to the penguin's level), the mega buster (to shoot the boss from the tornado stream) and ice (for when the boss is on the far left or right). With this strategy you have to hit him about 20 times, it takes ages. On the plus side, at least you barely ever get hit.
Oh good grief...THIS stage. I think it's pretty much the reason I never finished 8. Chances are, if I managed to make it past the ski section, the boss would've wrecked me. It may or may not have helped that I was using the Anniversary edition for the Gamecube.
i have doubt if anyone will ever see this but, did anyone ever have a problem where even if you got to wily stage 2, the game sent you back to wily stage 1 even if you saved your game?
Yes, I played this on legacy collection 2 on PS4 and I swear it happened to me. I finished wily stage 1 and then saved and came back later and it wanted me to do stage 1 AGAIN. It must be some glitch or something weird. Luckily I had a quick save before the stage 1 boss so I didn’t have to redo the snowboard part.
This is honestly the first full stage gameplay of MM8 I've ever seen, I can officially see what tpeople were talking about O_O Anywho 'grats on retaining your sanity for this playthrough! Not saying it's unbearable, but it lacks that majorly needed 8-bit charm.
@UsaSatsui That was not eye-brow waggling. XD If you actually look at it, his eye-brows are not moving at all... his head is just compressing and stretching out a bit... kind of like how some games indicate a character is talking (example being Okami).

Mega Man 1: Yellow Devil
Mega Man 7: Final Boss Battle
