The boat has a serious electrical problem that Trent has evidence has been there since Cape Town and has possibly caused parts of the Victron electrical to break. The electrical was installed by R&C and Leopard's electrical contractor Powersol/Multi Marine so Trent said it should be warranty but we don't know what they will or won't do to help fix it. It's even caused a battery to fail. (Possibly Trent said) The window frames aren't finished, the mast needs to go on, the gelcoat repairs, fiberglass work, likely a month of work at least at the speed this is going. Labor is short so Tynan is working on warranty and so is Trent at times. Trent is also trying to negotiate a constructive outcome for us and Leopard.
As the only other crew aside from the skipper/owner on ZD, I want to pass my thanks & compliments for capturing this milestone so professionally & personably. Indeed a treat to watch, and yes Ms Bridesmaid, SOON it will be your turn . Our best to you and your crew, and may you soon be sailing on a superbly repaired and revised craft. Mike
Thank you Mike, I'm glad you enjoyed the video 😊 Sounds like Zulu Dawn had a smooth departure from Trinidad so we hope it's fair winds and blue skies for the rest of your time aboard! Great that you're out sailing and enjoying the boat ⛵️
I knew it wasn't you, but I was still secretly hoping it was you and this was a surprise. When you visit the ranch, we can all practice using the tractor for potential haul outs. We can take turns mowing the pastures... same thing.
I enjoyed the vid. Sorry to see you all stuck here for so long. I find you sounded a bit choked up emotional. Awww. My country is so beautiful, enjoy every moment of it until your launching which , gods willing, will be very soon. I feel for you. I know you must be just want to get out and enjoy the sea life!
We didn't know how naturally beautiful Trinidad was until we came here! Whenever we can we try to escape the shipyards and go out in the jungle or visit the waterfalls. We're really looking forward to the warranty work being over so we can finally use the boat and explore new places, but we'll never forget Trinidad 😊🇹🇹
Hang in there. Your time will come. Hopefully we will see 👀 your sails ⛵️ on the Horizon from our lanai. Thank you for a video this week. So until next time ⏲️, Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii! Cheers 🍻
Thanks mate, we're looking forward to having those sails out too - every day is one day closer to the end of this chapter and the start of a better one 😀⛵️
I can't believe they actually stopped the launch! Unless you're a boat owner you prbably don't understand how valuable that is. We were in a similar position in Thailand last year with the tide, the arguing we had to go through... unbelievable!
I was hoping it would be you! Very cool to see how they do things in Trinidad, seems to be a big team effort - lots of eyes making sure it all goes right :)
Not yet but we hope it will be in the next month or so! We hauled out in March last year so it's getting closer and closer to a full year on the hardstand 😔
I always heard that powerboats had too many rookies and little to no regard for HSE guidelines. The fact that they didn't take into consideration tide when launching I think is cause for concern. Be cautious at powerboats.
The boats are lifted and launched by different teams of people depending on whether they're using the travel lift, power boat fork lift, tractor and power boat trailers, or the catamaran trailer - our experience of the catamaran lift team when they did our boat was good. That team does take the tide into consideration; on that day high tide was early in the day, earlier than they would usually try a launch, but the owner really wanted to leave in the morning so they agreed to try.
@@anna-tn2ww Hmmm, not sure a crew tasked with launching a boat that doesn’t check there is enough water at the launch site could be regarded as professional
@@Corey-pd3mi Tidal changes happen and the boat doesn't always get down the ramp as fast as you'd think, what's professional is how they deal with it. When this happened to us at a yard in Thailand we had to argue like crazy for them to take us back up. They wanted to try do a bump push thing over a wave... It was &*%#ing nuts! I'd rather a crew take longer and make sur everything is done properly than rush and do a shoddy job that might damage my boat...
The yard made a safe call based on the boat taking longer than anticipated to get down to the ramp. This is exactly what you want to see from a yard. As far as I am aware it cost the owner nothing extra.
It took a bit longer than expected to get down to the ramp but the yard staff will not rush the process of getting the boat on the trailer - their priority is lifting the boat carefully and correctly which as an owner is reassuring. Zulu Dawn really wanted to try for the morning tidal change so they had enough daylight to get going but in the end that didn't work out. Like all businesses PowerBoats have working hours and they usually don't start hauls this early in the day, I would guess many of these guys came to work early to try and get it done.
@@travelsketch hi. Not referring to you guys. One would have expected the operators of the sling to be aware of the draft of your boat and the depth of the tide on the ramp at the launch hence the Michael Mouse comment. Safe sailing after a year of problems with the manufacturer.
@holden4950 Ah I see, unfortunately this boat isn't ours but another Leopard owner who was also hauled at the yard and had warranty done here. He's a nice guy so we were happy to see Zulu Dawn relaunch! The yard know the tides but it took a bit longer than expected to get down the ramp. High tide was also earlier in the day than they'd usually organise a launch but they agreed to try as Zulu Dawn were keen to get sailing asap.
@@travelsketch ok I have only started following you so guess bit confused on who owns what. So to clarify, you guys are still having warranty problems with your boat and the manufacturer?
Yes we are, we're on the hardstand in Trinidad still undergoing warranty and have been for over a year. We got the boat in June 2021 and it then spent 7 months in Cape Town. It was sailed to Europe so we could collect our belongings, spent 3 months on the hardstand in Italy (What is a Robertson & Caine Warranty Worth? explains that in more detail) and was then sailed to Trinidad - we're ultimately headed for the Asia/Pacific region. While here we came across two other Leopards with warranty issues so helped them as well, Zulu Dawn was one of those boats :)
Dang it! I was so hoping it was you. It’s good for Zulu Dawn. Light at the end of the tunnel. What’s left to do on Liger?

Good lads making the safe calls on that launch. Only ones I want launching my boat. 😎

The guys here really communicate with each other as they're doing it which is great to see. Hopefully we'll be sharing ours soon!
Looking forward to seeing u guys on the trailer next! 🙏🙏🙏
It will be a special day!
soon!! When was this by the way?
We hope! Zulu Dawn launched earlier this week so what you're seeing is pretty close to real time.
@1:27 do you really wanna challenge Murphy like that...?😉
I said shouldn't!! 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞😅
Damn it wasn't your boat.

Tobago What can you do when you go around? pz answer me
Sadly we've not had a chance to visit Tobago yet but we hear it's beautiful!
What accent is that you have?

What a circus
Might seem like that to some, but as a yachty this was very nicely done - much more professional team than we dealt with in Asia!

Why so? If you explain your point, we might be able to provide some clarity
