  • Acts of self-love and healing are always painful.
    Getting rid of toxic but addictive people in your life;
    Imposing discipline, goals, and structure on a dissolute and carefree life;
    Saying “no” to temptations and seductions;
    Gaining insights into your shortcomings, self-inflicted wounds, and failures;
    Confronting trauma and abuse;
    Investing hard work in introspection and therapy.

      There can be no true healing unless suffering happens

    Your intellectual insights into NPD ease the suffering of our healing as we revisit our trauma with eyes wide open to see the truth

    My narcissistic ex did me the greatest of favours by exploding my heart and life apart. I was forced to examine myself and my life, to seek therapy and burst out of destructive patterns. I shed old toxic friends, confronted close family and learnt boundaries. Confronting the trauma and abuse I suffered at his hands was the best thing that happened to me. Healing is messy but ultimately beautiful.

      Yeah so that was a kick in the gut. Really resonated that the no pain no gain saying is so true in many aspects of life's trials and tribulations. It really stuck.

    Good summary and checklist 🍀 It is hell, and is why so many don't do it (the pain during healing and memories of that pain after healing gives reason to not want anything to do with them by the way). Once you come out to the other side and stay on the path of accountability and improvement, you'll find your peace of mind and focus shot up and questionable people stick out like sore thumbs- so you'll just stay away or cut it off then and there.

    Yes!!
    Please let me add.
    Knowledge is the first step in the direction of healing.
    Second observe, reflect on your own reaction and why is triggered by anything perceived whatsoever it is people, whether etc.
    Constantly observing your mental patterns and the how are repetitively reinforced.
    All leads to childhood memories most of them.
    Is very hard it takes years of reflection because are very subtle and are reinforced by a chain of thoughts and feelings again and again automatically even if they are justified.
    Healing yourself through self observations and with impersonal reflection on any outside stimulation either people or places etc.
    You can read for years knowing is not enough.
    Catch yourself on your reaction by being aware , acceptance and release and with practice you heal and are more than one pattern than you can imagine and are so automatically developed that are as fast as scratching a itch.
    Thank you Professor Sam.

    This is bang on the money doc and refreshing. There is so much utter nonsense out there when it comes to relating, trauma and healing. Lots of it is based of zero evidence, therapists promising quick fixes for big bucks. I always spot then a mile off. They normally mention the word 'empath' in the text somewhere. They tell the viewer that they are perfect, a pure inicorn who plays no role in their past relationship failures, that they have so much empathy so therefore they are entitled to the best. I like your approach. It's real. We are after all just walking talking apes feeling around in the dark, trying to make sense of the world when we were never given a manual as children RE how to relate and how to self regulate.

    Thank you. It's true. I've been trying to do this through reading the Bible, while it does help. I believe that EMDR or ART would help also. I'd like to know more about your cold therapy. I don't think any professional in the US knows about it and if they do don't offer it or can administer it.
