      Ay ay ay, hold the f up. 1st, 44 is an enormous achievement and you have the right to be proud of yourself. 2nd, that guy who swam 39 is also quite good at the whole swimming thing.
      But I get it, you swim huge times by your standards and then Dressel goes 17 seconds faster.

    Dressel is from the University of Florida, not Florida State (big difference! students of those respective schools intensely dislike the other)

    When 2 thirds of the race is under water dressel will win every time. It gets a lot closer in 50m long course.

      Bro if Dressel races these guys in long course it wont be a lot closer. The best of these guys swim 48.0 LCM, Dressel is 47.0.
      Dressel is just as phenomenal in Long course as he is short course, the confusion exists because when he swim Long course it's against the best of the world. When he swims scy, it's against the best of an amateur league.

      He could have gone faster but he swam so many races at Nationals. Just too tired. He was so gassed he could barely celebrate!

      i think if it was his 2nd or 3rd race of the meet (including prelims) he couldve been maybe 3 or 4 tenths faster, so yes rowdy was quite unrealistic but 39.9 isnt the limit

      Flip turns help too. When I swiched to OW I stopped doing flips in the pool. For me at least it just made the times more realistic

      hellkid227 these guys have spent abou 4-5 hours of everyday of the last 10-15 years in the pool. Theyve done hundreds of thousands of flipturns. In my 8 year swimming „career“ of which i competed on a national level for 4 years( im from switzerland though, i wouldnt even have been in the top 1000 swimmers in the us) until i was 14, i probably hit my feet once, when i was in one of my first regional competitions. But these pros never mess up the basics.

      yes, but this is a short course pool and he gets more underwater time, so you would only be able to measure it in an SCM (short course meter) pool, which it would be impressive but not a WR time, as the SCM 100 free belongs to Kyle Chambers in 44.8 seconds (correct me if im wrong).

    the semi Olympic pool record is definitely faster than the standard ones
    back to 50m pool the record still belongs to cesar cielo with 46.91s

      These are yards man. A yard is 0.92 meter, so 50 yards are about 46 meters. This time was actually a 92 meter Freestyle time

      maxincheng123 No one is trying to say it’s times are somehow comparable to long course meters, although in meters, Caeleb and others have smashed Cielo’s textile world records, put em in a super suit and 46.7s and 46.8s would be very common.

      Caleb Dressel won 7 gold medals in the 2017 world championships, including this event, the 100 freestyle. Yes, that's in a 50m pool.
