Mr Hoovie I don't know you and that doesn't matter. You are relatively young and are in good health I hope. That makes you rich beyond my wildest dreams. I grew up loving everything with engines and mostly Chevys for my part. I worked as a mechanic at a Ford dealer out of high school. Then Vietnam and the draft came along and changed my life for ever. I wish I could have kept all of the cars I had through the years. That just wasn't in the plans for my life. I tried but it just wasn't possible. You just do what you're doing and I know you have to appease the masses, but mainly you have to live your life.
Over 90% of Land Rovers are still on the road -- broken down. Why do Land Rover owners not wave to each other on the road? They already talked that day at the dealer service center.
This claim is made about the Mk 1 - Mk whatever flatsided aluminium bodied range. It does not apply in any way to the Range Rovers mk 1 all the way to the Evoque which are not farm/industrial level vehicles

Love that old flooring, and its a shame you can't keep it. I love old woodwork/floors when it make sense to keep or reuse them (All the woodwork in the farmhouse i grew up in was reclaimed/reused)
This! I've been really enjoying some of Hoovie's more recent vids especially the LR. I think they reinjected some sense of fun into the channel. It will also be interesting to compare & contrast his Ghibli rebuild vs Sreten's, and the S65 vids are on my list to watch.
Love the honesty Hoovie! It's refreshing to see you address the feedback directly. While some things might not have landed perfectly, keep experimenting with the content. Big props to you Hoovie. You seem like a humble and regular guy, which is much more relatable than some hyped up monkey in a cap, which i seem to see everywhere on this platform. Keep being real, keep being you, and if I'm to give you one piece of advise, then scale down on the supercar stuff, and get back to more regular cool cars. I just love your content on more relatable cars, like land-yachts and and neglected old sports cars.

Google 'broken window fallacy'. If he didn't thrash that Evoque, he could have spent the same amount of money on another car purchase. This would benefit the local economy in the same way, but he would end up with two cars instead of one. (Or put the money in his house). Just to point out the economic fallacy in your thinking, not telling Hoovie how to handle his business.

Your channel is always entertaining. To be honest I have only like land rover defenders. None of their other cars have ever been interesting. That being said I loved watching you attempt to "offroad" the evoque. It was never designed to do that. Your channel is awesome, you seem like a great and funny guy. Keep it up. Some people are extremely sensitive! Even seen people respond how the wizard wouldn’t be happy with him showing up with a car with mud. I’m sure it’s too late to suggest but I’ll tell you in hindsight sight. You should have mustered up an additional 10-15K and replaced all the sub flooring and baseboard heaters. It will work eventually. I was working on this building that had a drained Olympic pool inside. Crack heads broke into the building on the weekend sometime and cut out one piece of 3/4" copper pipe. When I got there on monday morning there was water pouring out of the front doors, and the pool was full...
I am not mechanical at all, but I have enjoyed Hoovie's videos for years and years. I enjoy his honesty. He is not BS. Great content and he can experiment a bit with his videos as well as far as I am concerned.

Don’t listen to the haters! I am a bit older than you, and much less affluent, and I like watching your videos. I am old enough that I remember when you could get a mid-sixties Jaguar E-type for less than 5 grand, and at this point I doubt if I will ever be lucky enough to own something like that. That sucks, but I can still watch you having so much fun and enjoy it vicariously. That’s one of the best things about the internet generally and TH-cam in.particular!
If your living your dream and have a plan and have market growth your channel is on the right track.. negative press is still press and even it grows viewership by raising awareness... I think your on point as not everyone that likes cars works on them.... you have passion.

I've been watching you since the first Mercedes... Keep doing your thing, it's always entertaining! I do have to admit I really like your "got the worst... " style videos/story arcs and those do keep me coming back, but I certainly still enjoy your experiments as well and they add some good variety to your content. I sooo wish I could afford to make an offer on the SLR. It was one of my wall poster cars when it came out.
Thing is you have a recipe that’s got you where you are today. It may get boring at times or you may feel you need to change or improve but we love the original hoovie. Not so much the breaking of vehicles or $100k race cars in perfect shape. We love seeing the wizard, car ninja, and you fix up the nicer older vehicles. It’s a niche you’ve found and it’s working. Always going to be a fan tho no matter what of course!!
You rock on Hoovie!!! The somewhat invisible benefit Hoovie provides is to fix cars others wouldn't. This keeps a useful hooptie on the road. It also keeps an unsuspecting buyer from buying said broken hooptie and getting screwed.

I love what you do and I don’t usually comment on videos You are my go to channel for videos. I love the resurrecting cars that are too far gone but also watching you have fun and mess some of them up. Now not being funny, but anybody that has a problem with you playing with cars that are uneconomical to repair should have paid for them in the first place. Keep at it love the channel
I honestly feel bad for folks who missed out on the "Top Gear" era of car shows and don't have that context for the Evoque. Yes, clearly mudding is not what the Evoque was made for but it sure was fun to watch and honestly it did better than expected. Don't stop being silly because of some sticks in the mud.
I watched Top Gear. And my less favorite portions were exactly the ones where Clarkson destroyed cars. My opinion obviously is on the minority group. No problems. So Hoovie will not be impacted by losing my viewership if he makes this a pattern on his videos. For me, there are plenty of videos out there where people make improvement to cars so good for me to still have options. LOL
Just as an aside: when people watch top gear, they know why they're watching. When people watch the price is right, they know what they're getting. AMIRITE? BTW: I almost unsubbed when the moron did donuts in his uninspected countach in the snow with 20 yr old weather cracked tires. Hoovie, you are authentic. What you do is uniquely you, and I'm here for you and Good Morning YT. Showing your struggles, albeit "a good problem to have," you're still a good guy. You deserve everything, even the struggles, because the juice is worth the squeeze. As long as you're not faking it, I'm here for it.
The farm is brilliant, and I'm a big fan of stunts like the Range Rover skit. As much as I love the same old program, some variety and pushing a hoopty to the limit are great fun! One question: Do you think there is enough living space on the farm for you? It is a bit compact for a single guy!
Honestly that was probably the best TH-camr apology out there. Hoovie actually understood why people would be upset at buying a $20,000 car just to immediately trash it, even if that wasn't the intention. One of the things I like about this channel is it's somewhat aspirational. Even though a lot of the cars are disasters, it also shows how many good and really interesting cars can be found for cheap. Buying a car just to smash it up is the total antithesis of that, so hopefully it never turns into one of those channels.
During the silent movie era, I can't remember if it was Buster Keaton or Fatty Arbuckle, or maybe even Laurel and Hardy....but they learned that audiences didn't like seeing things destroyed if they would like to own the object themselves. Very few could afford cars, so it angered the audience to see one destroyed, so they stopped destroying things. In Hoovie's case, it was clear that it wasn't the intention to destroy it. I personally found it to be one of the best videos he has made. The way it unraveled was perfect.
The smashing of cars was what I didn't like about the new Top Gear. The new guys were just about thrashing cars. Jeremy did that on occasion but it was a show for car lovers, not children breaking their toys. When Jeremy and the guys were fired, I left. BBC was wokeising the show and it didn't work.
@@boyracer3477 I was one of the few that didn't mind the new Top Gear (after Chris Evans was punted at least) but I never watched a single episode after they deliberately destroyed an FD RX-7 for no reason at all. Arguably the most beautiful car to come out of Japan and one of the most unique ever made. It was my dream car as a kid and they wrecked it. Although come on, "wokeising" it? They tried to force Chris Evans on us - one of the most "jobs for the boys" appointments possible.

Your experimentations don’t necessarily have to be related to destroying things. The 2000’s BMW complete lineup was a perfect example of how to do it. A masterclass. This was to me one the best series you ever made on this channel. That said, a bit of fun hurts no one! Keep it up Tyler 👍🏻💪🏻
Hoovie, I am a 72 year old Englishman in Portsmouth on the south coast. I have watched a whole heap of your videos and cartrek, which I also enjoyed. I was a Top gear fan and Grand Tour, Clarkson has become a sort if darling of the Brits because he doesn't give a toss what people think and laughs at his critics. I hope you just keep going and carry on with crap cars and fixing them. I was a bit surorised at your treatment of the Land Rover but that is what made Land Rover, their ability to go places where other vehicles can't!

I just love your content on more relatable cars, like land-yachts and and neglected old sports cars.

Google 'broken window fallacy'. If he didn't thrash that Evoque, he could have spent the same amount of money on another car purchase. This would benefit the local economy in the same way, but he would end up with two cars instead of one. (Or put the money in his house).

I’m sure it’s too late to suggest but I’ll tell you in hindsight sight. You should have mustered up an additional 10-15K and replaced all the sub flooring and baseboard heaters. You’re ripping the place apart. There’s no better time than right now to do it. Thanks for the content my friend. You’re one of my favorites on TH-cam 👊🏽

It will work eventually. I was working on this building that had a drained Olympic pool inside. Crack heads broke into the building on the weekend sometime and cut out one piece of 3/4" copper pipe. When I got there on monday morning there was water pouring out of the front doors, and the pool was full...

I am old enough that I remember when you could get a mid-sixties Jaguar E-type for less than 5 grand, and at this point I doubt if I will ever be lucky enough to own something like that. That sucks, but I can still watch you having so much fun and enjoy it vicariously. That’s one of the best things about the internet generally and TH-cam in.particular!

I've been watching you since the first Mercedes... Keep doing your thing, it's always entertaining! I do have to admit I really like your "got the worst... " style videos/story arcs and those do keep me coming back, but I certainly still enjoy your experiments as well and they add some good variety to your content. Thing is you have a recipe that’s got you where you are today. It may get boring at times or you may feel you need to change or improve but we love the original hoovie. Not so much the breaking of vehicles or $100k race cars in perfect shape.

The somewhat invisible benefit Hoovie provides is to fix cars others wouldn't. This keeps a useful hooptie on the road. It also keeps an unsuspecting buyer from buying said broken hooptie and getting screwed.

I honestly feel bad for folks who missed out on the "Top Gear" era of car shows and don't have that context for the Evoque. Yes, clearly mudding is not what the Evoque was made for but it sure was fun to watch and honestly it did better than expected. Don't stop being silly because of some sticks in the mud.
Yeah Really! My son and I still have a wonderful bond DUE to the original TopGear. And We still sit down together and do re runs.
Top Gear was creative about destruction.
I watched Top Gear. And my less favorite portions were exactly the ones where Clarkson destroyed cars. My opinion obviously is on the minority group. No problems. So Hoovie will not be impacted by losing my viewership if he makes this a pattern on his videos. For me, there are plenty of videos out there where people make improvement to cars so good for me to still have options. LOL
I always wonder, how big a portion of TG viewers think that these episodes were real and not scripted in advance.
Just as an aside: when people watch top gear, they know why they're watching. When people watch the price is right, they know what they're getting.

Hoovie, you are authentic. What you do is uniquely you, and I'm here for you and Good Morning YT. Showing your struggles, albeit "a good problem to have," you're still a good guy. You deserve everything, even the struggles, because the juice is worth the squeeze. As long as you're not faking it, I'm here for it.
The farm is brilliant, and I'm a big fan of stunts like the Range Rover skit. As much as I love the same old program, some variety and pushing a hoopty to the limit are great fun! One question: Do you think there is enough living space on the farm for you? It is a bit compact for a single guy!

Honestly that was probably the best TH-camr apology out there. Hoovie actually understood why people would be upset at buying a $20,000 car just to immediately trash it, even if that wasn't the intention.
One of the things I like about this channel is it's somewhat aspirational. Even though a lot of the cars are disasters, it also shows how many good and really interesting cars can be found for cheap. Buying a car just to smash it up is the total antithesis of that, so hopefully it never turns into one of those channels.
During the silent movie era, I can't remember if it was Buster Keaton or Fatty Arbuckle, or maybe even Laurel and Hardy....but they learned that audiences didn't like seeing things destroyed if they would like to own the object themselves. Very few could afford cars, so it angered the audience to see one destroyed, so they stopped destroying things.
In Hoovie's case, it was clear that it wasn't the intention to destroy it. I personally found it to be one of the best videos he has made. The way it unraveled was perfect.
The smashing of cars was what I didn't like about the new Top Gear. The new guys were just about thrashing cars. Jeremy did that on occasion but it was a show for car lovers, not children breaking their toys. When Jeremy and the guys were fired, I left. BBC was wokeising the show and it didn't work.
@@boyracer3477 I was one of the few that didn't mind the new Top Gear (after Chris Evans was punted at least) but I never watched a single episode after they deliberately destroyed an FD RX-7 for no reason at all. Arguably the most beautiful car to come out of Japan and one of the most unique ever made.
It was my dream car as a kid and they wrecked it.
Although come on, "wokeising" it? They tried to force Chris Evans on us - one of the most "jobs for the boys" appointments possible.

Your experimentations don’t necessarily have to be related to destroying things.
The 2000’s BMW complete lineup was a perfect example of how to do it. A masterclass. This was to me one the best series you ever made on this channel.

I was a Top gear fan and Grand Tour, Clarkson has become a sort if darling of the Brits because he doesn't give a toss what people think and laughs at his critics. I hope you just keep going and carry on with crap cars and fixing them. I was a bit surorised at your treatment of the Land Rover but that is what made Land Rover, their ability to go places where other vehicles can't!
