What began is a real fun movie turned into an almost too serious environmental documentary. Making environmental points is okay, but too much serious, not enough fun. They could have really had some crazy fun with the idea... I kept wondering where all the blackbirds were when you need one...or perhaps a pebble tumbling off the cliff to come crashing into that guys micro-yacht. What should have been terrifying was more like a dark cloud hanging over your head the entire move that never rains destruction or chaos. I mean, what about earthquakes? jeez. What about what all those little people could be doing on the outside. Too focused on a storyline, and grant you it was okay, almost good, but truly missing something that would have made it great since this is the first time any movie like this has been made except for innerspace and honey I shrunk the kids (neither had anything to do with a society of tiny people though). Some things are better left to god. Too much misery means no room for fun. Nor did they explore the scientific fact that physics changes when you're small... bugs for example can carry many times their own weight. Then there's the big problem with voices! They should be high pitched! but they were just normal. Did nobody from this production crew consult a single real scientist? omg. Next time, please do!

What was the point of changing that for the trailer? Also, when you see him stuck in a cubicle on the phone, the trailer makes it look like he's tired of his life and he should go get small. He gets the cubicle job AFTER he gets small. That shot is taken after he's already downsized. Also Kristin Wiig is in the movie for about 15 minutes while the movie is over 2 hours long. Also, the Vietnamese lady they briefly show for a split second at 1:55 is pretty much the main character. She has the most screen time and the most dialogue, while you can barely understand what she's saying the whole time. Jason Sudekis's appearance in this film can be considered a cameo at best. Also, that huge Absolut bottle scene is not in the movie. My point is, this is a very deceptive trailer. The movie isn't nearly as good as the trailer makes it look. The movie is more about the Vietnamese lady with a thick fake annoying accent trying to get a new foot prosthesis and bringing people food in her ghetto neighborhood, and less about Matt Damon's adjustments to this new small life.

But I don't think it would look that good when it's so small and physics would be way different and the effects on the body in that state would be lethal. Shrinking ourselves solves our problems related to resource consumption but magnifies problems with nature. Think about pest control, mold growth in a tiny house, raining (each drop is like a basket size) and bullying & discrimination (by normal size human). I love the plot of this movie. It is wild seeing things in this perspective.

You guys, this movie was so bad. Do not see it! Only the first 30 minutes are about shrinking down. The rest of the movie is about a Vietnamese political prisoner trying to repair her prosthetic foot and also mankind going extinct. I am not kidding. But even worse, the bizarre turns the "story" took were boring because nothing ever happened. Mostly it was a series of dull exposition conversations that never amounted to anything. It was boring and stupid. Everyone in my group wanted to leave halfway through and I wish we would have.
Saw it. It was good until Paul winds up cleaning with Ngac, and for some reason, it all turned. And when you think two or three dollars could have given her a new leg. three rich dudes...... or the scientist having enough money for his project and felt sorry for her but, uh, he couldn't buy her a new leg... (?). It doesn't make much sense. It did have potential, though.
For me my biggest problem with this movie was that it kept setting up all these different conflicts, yet by the end of the film I felt that nothing was resolved and once a new conflict entered the picture the last was immediately forgotten and left unresolved.

If this were to happen in real life, it would be the most horrific event in human history. A fucking blood bath. You guys, this movie was so bad. Do not see it! Only the first 30 minutes are about shrinking down. The rest of the movie is about a Vietnamese political prisoner trying to repair her prosthetic foot and also mankind going extinct. I am not kidding. But even worse, the bizarre turns the "story" took were boring because nothing ever happened. Mostly it was a series of dull exposition conversations that never amounted to anything. It was boring and stupid. Everyone in my group wanted to leave halfway through and I wish we would have.
I thought it was gonna be like “oh I can’t live like this” or something but they were just all down for it😂
And they would be eaten by birds in a matter of moments...

Saw it. It was good until Paul winds up cleaning with Ngac, and for some reason, it all turned. And when you think two or three dollars could have given her a new leg. three rich dudes...... or the scientist having enough money for his project and felt sorry for her but, uh, he couldn't buy her a new leg... (?).

For me my biggest problem with this movie was that it kept setting up all these different conflicts, yet by the end of the film I felt that nothing was resolved and once a new conflict entered the picture the last was immediately forgotten and left unresolved.
@@oliviamorales9406 what do you mean, no conflict was left unresolved other than umm. the marriage issue was resolved on his third attempt by (unable to speak proper english joke person). also, someone overdosed on painkillers behind the scenes and was treated like nothing. you know that word really does sum up this movie. nothing
The one thing...the one motherfucking thing a cat wishes all day is for it's bitch ass owner of a human to be shrunken down to the size of it's play toy. If this were to happen in real life, it would be the most horrific event in human history. A fucking blood bath. Not only do we have to worry about spiders that are now like great danes that run 50x faster than us and and can sink their fangs through our entire leg and suffocate us with their webs, but we also have to worry about the millions of cats who just instantly turned us into their bitch.

This would have made a great Black Mirror episode. Have the drama be about pocket size spies or terrorist creates national security issues. Or what to do with people with life in prison or in death row. Shrink them, cost the people less right. Maybe the rich gets their way with it and say they should shrink the inner cities. And poor people will be attracted to this if they found that $1k would be like living upper class. So all the poor people are convince this is the way to live only to find out it's a irreversible trap to keep the little people... little. Yooooo fuck the movie make black mirror.

I’ll never see Matt Damon the same after he defended Casey Affleck and now Harvey Weinstein. Casey was one thing but now Weinstein, that’s a pattern.
