Top notch acting by Leo - goes along with his performance in Django. Alan is evergreen as always!
Another Oscar worthy performance by Leo, amongst many (at least 10!). Leo became Howard Hughes. Amazing!
I love how on day 1 the press are staring down Hughes like he's the devil, waiting to see how he'll respond to the committee's pointed questioning. And by day 3, they're staring down the committee waiting to see what they have to say in the face of Hughes' blistering questioning.
This is the movie that Leo should have won his first Oscar for. I've seen the archival footage of this hearing and he is so spot on for Hughes.
Love the Hughes Hercules and Hughes FX-11! Way ahead of their time! Look at/study every line of the design attributes of today's "like" aircraft, and you too may see some of the H-4 and XF-11. So glad he got the Hercules into the air and that there is great footage to share it
The blocking and using the flashing with the lights was a great choice by Martin Scorsese, using the lights flashing for transitioning between cuts. Also to build tension
I don't know if this actually happened or not but I like how in this scene Howard Hughes basically makes a fool out of this Senator. I do know that in reality Hughes did have a Senate Hearing but whether or not it played out the way it does in the film is what I'm uncertain of.
They did record it, so the real footage is out there somewhere.
One of the best courtroom scenes in cinematic history!
The whole movie was Oscar worthy and Leonardo was best actor worthy (for that scene alone), but Million Dollar Baby won and Jamie Foxx won. Something's wrong with the system.
Make-up calls for Titanic winning Best Picture.
As good as DiCaprio is, he doesn't even come close to Clint Eastwood
@@rictusmetallicus he's not good he's great.
How the fuck did he not get an oscar for this great acting he got it for the revenant were he barely talked.
This is one of the best performances of Leonardo by far
And the “People’s of TH-cam Oscar award” goes to Leo.
For the fifth year running!
Had Howard Hughes not been a crazy billionaire, he would have been a brilliant trial lawyer. He simply took that politician to the cleaners. He was well prepared and just sarcastic enough to get the job done far more effectively than his lawyers might have done.
Incredible actor
Not bad mini camera screens for 1947.
Still shocking that LEO has won only ONE oscar !! so many roles including this one deserved the GONG more than the one he actually won it for!
Leo should've gotten an Oscar for this!!
Agree
"No, I Don't Think I Will!" I Love This Whole Scene! Leo Played Howard To A "T"! What A Beautiful Verbal Boxing Match! Alan's Really Feeling The Heat! I Absolutely Love How Mr Hughes Went From Being The Prosecutor To Being The Accused! He Totally Owned Brewster & Had Him Tripping Over His Own Words!
Howard To Brewster:" Catch Me If You Can!"
Greatest Leo performance by far.
would you ask him to return ?!
No i don't think i will
will you try to have him return ?!
No i don't think i'll try..no i don't think so .
Leonardo's response and his composure and calmness are magnificent in this sequence 👌
I like how he just told it like it is...he didn't let anyone put words in his mouth...maintained frame.
The sound design in this scene is brilliant
Basically, just robbed of an Oscar for best actor. Again.
Below the radar or above scrutiny ✨
This is great. The missing part is watching Juan Tripp in his office watching the hearing end... walking to his globe, pointing at all the places TWA is going to be able to fly and saying to himself "F*CK!"
6:12-6:44
This is what needs to be examined and immediately asked directly to any legislator for any bill now more than ever.
4:09 The way he turns that back on the senator is legendary.
at 4:27
"Would you repeat that?"
Leo :"I guess I am not the only deff here"
Would have been perfect.
Damn Hawkeye worked his way up to the top
I found this movie boring when I saw it back in the day but rewatched it today and realized it was a good movie. Leo gave an Oscar-worthy performance and Scorsese did a great job👌
Martin Scorsese and Leo both went FAR too long without being recognized with Oscars. This film was a masterpiece, even though Scorsese had already made even more impressive movies with Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas.
Leo did a good job in this role.
