This scene NEVER gets old. NEVER, EVER gets old. No other film has had this type of crisp editing. It's drawing you in and making your gut tight. Then it's over with, 'That's Jason Bourne'. Even if you tell yourself, it's just a movie it'll still suck you in and control you. I think that's amazing.
Absolutely correct. This was easily my favorite of the Bourne films. So many fantastic, suspenseful scenes but this Waterloo one was insane! I've been there and just imagine what it would take for Bourne to strategize in such a busy place. Brilliant stuff!
I TOTALLY AGREE!!! What an amazing scene! Perfect editing and action. Cinema perfection for certain!
I’ve watched this scene dozens and dozens of times more than any other movie scene
Editing is OFF THE CHARTS good
Very "24" era...
The way the CIA team talks always cracks me up
It's like a mix between professional communication and game callouts
Affirmative
"I need that phone!" X3 by 4 different people lol
Every now and then, I find myself coming back to this specific scene, even if I don't rewatch the whole trilogy. Everything in this scene is perfect, the editing, the rhythm, the score, the actors, the tension quickly building up, the short but brutal fight and eventually the iconic line perfectly delivered by David Strathairn…
I freaking love the original Bourne's Trilogy, but this single scene is on another level of its own...
This whole film was like that. I remember talking to a friend at the time who had seen the film a couple of days before I was going to see it, and I asked him what it was like. He said, "it's pure adrenalin, it's action from start to finish and amazing".
I wonder if the guy in the blue hooded sweatshirt ever got out of CIA custody.......
@@michaelchallen Who? He doesn't exist. It never happened.
@@lokidecat perhaps I should have put an interbang at the end to show it was a tongue-in-cheek comment !? I do get the fact that it's a fictional film....
@@michaelchallen No.. I was playing the role of the CIA in that comment.. as in. "It never happened.. you saw nothing, citizen."
Watching him taking apart several highly trained teams without breaking a sweat is essential Jason Bourne.
The element of surprise!
And the funny thing is that only Ross dies here.
This scene is the reason there is an Academy Award for Best Editing.
Literally perfect.
As well as script writing.
0.5 sec jump cuts
Yeah. A bunch of cuts but it’s still clean what’s happening. The cuts add to anxiety
@@TonyTylerDraws ...clean cuts? :D
@@impostrous Watch the scene where Bourne fights Desh in the Moroccan apartment. There are a crap ton of cuts, but it's still VERY clear what's happening in the scene. There's a reason it won an Oscar for editing.
This goddamn scene. Literally the pinnacle of the entire trilogy
the chase in Tangiers though 😳
The call to Landy.❤
At the theater in WA State where my wife and I saw this, the entire theater room applauded at the end of this scene.
@@rakadus two calls to Landy, the only person he trusted, somewhat.
As a bloke, deep down, we all want someone out there who address us the way Vosen addressed Bourne in this scene.

I haven't seen an action thriller of this quality since I saw this one. Top tier filmmaking.
Sky fall was pretty damn good. Also, Winter Soldier has an extremely similar feel and tone to the Bourne series. Winter Soldier is probably the closest.
Indeed, good, but I now think Sicario 1 & 2 now are best.
@@grahamstannard1243Sicario is a fantastic series. The first is one of the most underrated films of the last decade.
@@grahamstannard1243 Sicario is my fav thriller of the 2010s. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole movie.
@@MatthewMedina-b7l underrated in that it won a bunch or awards and nominations? It’s not underrated at all.
"Jesus Christ it's Jason Bourne" is like a favorite choir song, everyone is just waiting to hear it.
Perfectly delivered with a Wonderful acting.
I know it's gotten the meme treatment, but the way David Strathairn delivers that line at that moment really sells it.
The most unrealistic thing about this scene is the asset finding a parking spot in London at 5:25
It was rather where the staff car park is haha
He's clearly on double yellow. That's a ticket for sure
@@hugopassmore7563 The guy’s an assassin, you really think he cares about a ticket? 😅
It,s Jason Bourne .
He was green lit. He wasn’t even there.
The fact this scene is less 10 minutes long is mind boggling.
Feels so much longer
Really? To me it feels like the opposite. Everything is so captivating and fast that you dont even realize when the 10 mins went by
you two complete each other now make up
Thought the same thing
Means it accomplishes its goal of inducing anxiety in the viewer, the higher the pressure gets the sooner you want it to end.
It definitely feels like 10 minutes.
The music in these Bourne films is absolutely beautiful. Always gets me through my workday. Especially The Bourne Supremacy’s soundtrack
Of all the things that Jason Bourne did in the movies, surely the most extraordinary was buying a prepaid phone and having it charged, online and active in 2 minutes. Let's see James Bond do THAT!
its a prepaid phone with a limited number of minutes
You forget this is also an old film now, and cheap switch on use and discard phones were everywhere back then
@@JulioJordio100 Also you could buy one without ID.
The Good Old Days 😏
Used to do that all the time. That’s why it is “prepaid.” Ready to go.
A friend of mine was not a Matt Damon fan and has never watched the Bourne Identity until maybe a couple of years ago. He finally gave in and was blown away by the trilogy!!
Dude became a legendary meme
"Jesus Christ, that's Jason bourne"
Lmfao
"Jason Bourne, that's Jesus Christ"
how we all aspired to be introduced to other people... 🤣
"Jesus Christ, that's Jesus Christ!"
I love how they used Waterloo station, i used to work near there so was great to see it immortalized in a film like this
Absolutely classic scene from start to finish! The tension, the pacing, the music... Absolutely everything is on point!
And the idiot not following simple directions like he knows who is and is not after him in disguise.
blue hood guy be like "the fuck did i do"
Ah, oh yes, I had a hoodie up.
Like being an Irishman in England in the 70's.
Yeah, they never follow up on what happened to blue hood guy.
Bourne just used this random guy as a decoy, sucks to be you. 😂
In a police state, that's any one of us.
@@jamesgates1074 most likely when they found out he was talking to Bourne instead of blue hood guy they dumped him in an alley somewhere before he even woke up. Who is going to believe his story anyway?
Relying on UK public transport was surely Bourne’s gutsiest move.
lemme tell you that scene would not be possible in america, at least on the west coast, maybe LA is the exception, but we have poor transit, especially during peak hours
If it was Southern Rail, they would still be shooting the movie.
The way he took out those guys in such a confined space. Making perfect use of the walls, corners, staircase, doorway and on top of that making them collide against each other to disarm. Every blow is specifically targeted to severely hurt. And the last one is a massive blow but even kind of funny because it just shows how furious he is about the whole situation. Perfect scene.
It makes sense. Lore-wise, he's the greatest wetworks asset ever created.
The way the guys run to him with their guns drawn is hilarious. They had to make some pretext for hand-to-hand to make sense
One of my all time favorite trilogies. God I hope they don't remake this. Please leave this one alone, Hollywood!
I've never seen a movie had that much shot change in just 2 - 5 seconds, but the way Director Edited shot by shot and focusing, zooming, camera finding the target, man its so risky way to direct a movie. Because the viewer might get phase out with so many cuts.
Bourne Ultimatum is Classic.
The viewer does get phased out. Its exhausting watching that many cuts, that's why the film works so well. It makes you feel the frenetic energy of being on the lam. So it works in services of the story, but at the same time, whew, still exhausting.

When Jason Bourne says to you 'stay in line' then you FUKING STAY IN LINE !!!

Can i get an autograph mister bourne? Big fan!
The BGM score in this movie is just awesome. And, that slick editing keeps us on the edge.

All they got to do is activate the " asset"😂😂
We totally need another Jason Bourne movie, and then another, and another ...
I agree but Matt Damon isn't getting younger again he's closer to 60yrs than 40 yrs 😭😭
Dude, if they released another Bourne movie this day and age it wouldn't be a Bourne movie. They'd screw it up so badly it wouldn't even be good.
I think the first two are the best, for different reasons. Ultimatum is certainly very good, but not quite in the same league. The last one, Jason Bourne, showed a serious fall-off in quality - and that was nine years ago.
I doubt another new one would be anything but disappointing.
9:40 "Jesus Christ. That's Jason Bourne."

Must be five steps ahead when dealing with Jason Bourne, expect anything, anytime from that gamechanger.
Tension in this scene is unreal! Some damn fine cinema.
“Jesus Christ… that’s Jason Bourne” a fitting line for an epic scene
I watched the trilogy a dozen times, simply love it
It is just me or the editing of the movie really are outstanding?
Some of the most intense walking ever captured on film 😅
Forever GOATed Bourne trilogy scene
Love this scene. Feel sorry for the poor guy in the blue hoodie, but overall it's an A+.
What a great sequence in amazing film. One of a few fime where 1 2 and 3 are all as good as each others, personally 2nd was my favourite
Jesus Christ! That's Jason Bourne.
that line along with:
- Oh. from John Wick
- This is Sparta! from 300
are some of the best lines in movies for me.
god-bless Jason Bourne. yes, he is only a fantastical made-up character; but it all starts with the ability to imagine. how far can one man go ? and all the " droids " doing evil " it's just my job ! "
There is no Mission Impossible, or Daniel Craig 007, or even John Wick that can reach the same perfect balance of action, suspance, building up, real world action and entertainment. Don't get me wrong, those I mention are very entertaining franchises and each have its own strengths, but Bourne is THE masterpiece. It is perfect in its simplicity and, something the others do not have, you can watch it over and over again and never be bored (unlike others). Even the sequels to the trilogy are not on this level. Perfection.
I wonder how many people realise that the background people in this scene are general public (except for the interior bus scene). They filmed it live in Waterloo without extras. Matt Damon get getting recognised by the public while trying to shoot
I knew because watching the 4K Blu-ray version you can see people in the background realising who it is, also Waterloo station is one of the busiest in London and there's no way they could shut it down to film. 🤔🤔

One of the greatest franchises
Best edition work i ´ve ever seen . It´s smazing
There have been very few times when shaky cam has worked in action films without inducing nausea, but the first two Bourne films especially did it right. It was more about tension and ferocity than looking cool, something the "Taken" series (for example) never understood.

I'm still a nerd for Ludlum's books and would like to see a version following the original story line...
either way... great acting, directing, cool cinematography & ultimately very rewatchable.
Only the first movie follows the first book right?
I have been meaning to read from the second book is it OK? Or shall I start reading from book 1
@mokisan the first book and movie are pretty close, but I still think it's worth reading... they are different enough and some of the character building becomes important later in the series
@pv3Hpv3p thanks so much for the reply. So give it a shot
God they had such a great story line in this trilogy. Wish they’d have stayed closer to it than what they did in the other movies
Cheese and rice. It's Jason Bourne.
These films make pierce brosnans bond look like a school kid.
Yup, so much so that they had to reboot Bond with Daniel Craig. There was no way they could bring Pierce back after Bourne (and I am Pierce's biggest fan).
The problem with that is the Bond movies then started to emulate the Bourne ones which to me hurt the franchise.
The Bond movies always had a element of tongue in cheek about them even with the Brosnan ones.
But when the Bourne movies came out.
Everyone started to copy them instead of building from them and making something even better.
They lost the ability to originate.
I personally hate the Craig movies as he didn't have anything that made his take truly stand out from the previous actors.
Connery was the original and the blueprint.
Moore played up to the characters upper class heritage.
Dalton was the wounded hero with a bad attitude.
And Brosnan was a mix of all of them taking the best bits and making them work.
Daniel Craig was bland, boring and did a better acting job as the American in the first Lara Croft movie.
Which is funny as you had a Brit playing a American and a American playing a Brit.
@@DarkLordDiablos Skyfall and every movie after were outstanding. Craig was smoother than anyone other than Brosnan with far more action chops.
@@CamJames I must disagree for the reasons I have stated.
I hated Craig's wooden performance so much that I gave up on the franchise after Skyfall.
But if you like him that thats fine considering each of the actors after Connery have had their detractors for their own portrayal of the character.
brosnan was actually grittier than previous bonds... tim dalton was like the awkward transition from cheeky to chic bond, but moore and connery, whether you want to admit it or not, were in some pretty cheesy films... but that was the style back then. brosnan was the first "modern" bond, and the craig films built on that.
brosnan (die another day) begins with him being tortured for months by the koreans. he says he didnt even want to come back and that it was a mistake to make the trade. craig is just mad at MI6 because vesper died, in skyfall he's champing at the bit to return.
silva is trevelyan with fancier toys.
Watched all his movies its was the bomb 💥😁💃
