Some things to note for Infra Knife: It's the best weapon for taking down Sentinel capital ships however for faster moving targets the auto-aim can be a little wonky (on Xbox, don't know about other versions) and will often send a stream of bullets to where the enemy *was*, so the actual DPS drops down significantly. Funny enough, the regular Photon Cannon (and its Sentinel's variant) is a lot more accurate with the auto-aim. I suggest disabling the auto-follow feature and flying on full manual, using reverse thrust if the enemy comes too close. If you align yourself properly you can expect to vaporize a regular Sentinel in 1-2 seconds depending on how many supercharged slots you could spare for the IK and the ship's class damage bonus.
Soften ‘em up with the cyclotron ballista and then close distance, and delete with rocket and the positron ejector. After seeing it in action in this video, I can’t wait to add an infra knife to the mix.
Just to add important info Phase Beam also recharges your shields while the enemy has shields for you to drain Cyclotron Ballista has about 50% more range than the Photon Rockets are of course something you toggle to when letting your guns cool and when the rockets are ready to fire If you have at least 2 or 3 guns (rockets included) you can just hold the Fire button down while slowly toggling through the Guns, allowing plenty of cooling time for overheating, while maintaining constant streams of damage My choice is Positron Ejector, Cyclotron Ballista and Rockets Great Info, and i dont think ive ever used the Infra Knives, i may try them out but i felt they were the worst in the old days, but i may look into them

Phase beam and infra are a combo from heaven once you have infra maxed out with black market mods. You can easily hit 120,000 damage when you overclock.overlook. It's also very fast with cool down. My guns stop for a second and are instantly recharged after melting 4-5 sentinels.
Knife, with two supercharged slots, and the beam, even just by itself without maxing it out, and you'll tear through ships like they are made of paper, and rarely even need to recharge your shields with the beam, but it's handy to have.

thats very true i go for maxed out photon cannon and infra knife and have a cyclotron as a secondary and SOMETIMES i may have a phase beam as an emergency shield recharge. if i plan on battling sentinels, i may also have a positron ejector and a rocket launcher as extra heavy hitting weapons.
I've been happy enough with just the photon, to drop sheilds, then missiles to finish off. Works well enough I have no worries, plus leaves me feeling like I'm doing fighter pilot stuff. However, I was unaware of what you say about the cyclotron affecting enemy drives, and someone else below saying it has longer range. I'll give that a try as a phot replacement. Thanks for the info!
I'm early into the game for the first time and have something like 40 kills of pirates and sentinels with mainly the photon. Like he said in the video, there's also a fun factor involved but I don't want to load my ship up with too many weapons because I'll be having to cycle through them trying to find the right one to use. I'll just add the knife for fun and effectiveness to the photon and rockets and call it good.
nice to the point vid with no fluff to lengthen the runtime, i prefer to use the old faithful photon cannons myself, i used to use photons to take shield down then infraknife after but when fighting sentinel ships they quite often do that loop da loop move a lot and the shield is back up usually so ended up switching back so i did away altogether with the infra but i may give the cyclotron a blast as i aint tried it yet, cheers for the vid much obliged for the input
Yeah I try to keep the videos short and to the point, and I would definitely try out the cyclotron at least for sentinels. It makes them way easier to defeat. Thanks for Watching!
The infra-knife is just brokenly overpowered. Tune it up and you'll be able to shred anything at good range in a handful of seconds without caring if it's shielded or not. Pair it with a Phase Beam and put said phase beam's shield leach into a super charge slot to get 88% of damage delt to shields added to your own. You'll rarely ever need to worry about getting shot down ever again. Great for large engagements, and mauling Sentinel Capital Ships. My favorite weapon though is the Cyclotron Ballista. Shut down the target's shields and engines? Heck yeah! Cripple them and swap to what ever floats your boat for an easy kill. The 'Shotgun' is only really optimal if your ship is FAST as it works best at almost point blank range. Last, I hope the rocket pods get some love at some point. Trying to find X-mods for them is driving me insane.
I have 4 installed: Photon Cannon, Rocket Launcher, Positron Ejector and Infraknife Accelerator / Gatling Cannon. I usually switch between them during the fight to keep any single one from overloading, the RL is mostly the one to finish damaged enemies off with
When I first started the game, I was really excited and looking forward to min-maxing the weapons. Once I finally got a ship I really liked and wanted to upgrade, I headed over to the anomaly to find the optimum weapon loadout. Just be reading the description of the weapons, I figured that the simplest but most effective combo would be cyclotron to drain shields, then infra-knife to deal hull damage. After installing and upgrading both weapons as much as was practical with the resources on hand, I noticed that the infra-knife (although stated to be primarily a hull damage dealer) did significantly more damage to shields than the cyclotron (whose whole purpose for existing is draining shields). I thought this was silly but immediately got rid of the cyclotron, freeing my ship up for many more upgrades. Also, with the upgrades I had, the cooldown was nearly instant, and it took about 10-15 seconds of consistent fire to overheat, so there really wasn't any penalty to only using the one weapon. tl;dr INFRA-KNIFE GO BRRRRRRRR
Glad im not the only one who knows the knife is literally a sentinel destroyer. I melt enemies so fast its almost not even a challenge anymore. The autopilot is wonky but it's still my favorite weapon. I only switch to phase beam to replenish my shields after melting 5 sentinel ships.
@@xSpaceInvader yeah with the auto-track on they don't aim very well. I only use auto-track if I've lost visual of enemy ships or just want to target the closest one, but once they're in my field of view I find aiming manually much easier.
@@mcflyingfury same. I dont like how it won't let you adjust your speeds while it's active. I like to be able to stop and turn on a dime when doing aerial fights. @@xSpaceInvader It's annoying, although I got used to it after a while. NMS just wasn't made with detailed combat in mind unfortunately. Maybe someday we'll get a true open world Star Wars game with detailed space and land combat haha
Cyclo, Rocket and Positron are a good combo, Phase & Infra too. I treat each ship like it has its own personality and try to craft its weapon loadout based on that.
I'm really glad that you mentioned ship personality. I have multiple ships, and they're all really great when upgraded, but the reason to have multiple ships is because they look and feel different when you play them. I want to emphasize those differences.
I use Infra Knife and Photon Beam, but after first two minutes of the video I'm definitely adding Cyclotron Ballista in my build, the slow against Sentinels is invaluable
Love the knife, cyclone combo, with your s class mods you have crazy fast dps for physical and shields. If you only run those two you can quick swap between them as well.
Infra-Knife is king. Especially when after hours of re-rolling X-graded modules I got an absolutely beautiful roll. Then I archived the module, duplicated it twice, installed them around the Infra-Knife in a 2x2, Infra-Knife on a supercharged slot. I'll edit this comment later with the actual stats.
@@tokun586 Won't tell a lie, I'm a shameless duper. I just dupe the suspicious infra-knife package a bunch of times. I'll spend an hour or so installing, uninstalling checking against my personal best roll. I haven't had a roll that's come close to my personal best yet in a long time. And yes once you get that God roll, turn the module into an archived package and dupe that twice too, then you have three of your personal best roll. I only give the whole fishing for a better roll thing an hour here or there in your average week because it's boring as shit and getting those terrible rolls just reminds you of the odds.
Great video. I tend to use the infraknife most of the time. It just looks good and sounds good to me. I enjoy it for combat and mining roids. The best weapon is actually the positron ejector though. It us actually the best weapon and roids tool period. A couple of upgrades on it to allow for more rounds before overheat and it's a true beast. It tears through ship shields and then hull like paper. Fast and efficient at mining too.
Mine does almost 100K and 80K to shields. It's silly the damage it does if you get it in a few super changed slots and the right S grade upgrades. Fire rate being the one you want most on an upgrade. Why the Devs would overpower a weapon this much is silly. It makes every other weapons pretty much worthless. Why? Because it melts shields and no shield targets. Some ones are one or the other.
@@Colmatt now we just need this video, but the waypoint update 😀 999 didn't look right so i had to make it 1k, still can't believe you don't have more subs.
The infra knife is very strong with upgrades. I pair it with the rocket launchers. As you said, wear out the shield, then rocket launcher. However, the rocket launcher isn't the most accurate, but the infra knife is just as effective on the hull as the shield. With upgrades, the infra knife fires a lot faster, and you'll get much more generous overheating. Pair that with very minimal bursts, for endless fire, can easily fully take care of any ship, should your rocket miss/not one shot
There are plenty of slots for tech if you expand your slots the right way, so there won't be issues for those who wouldn't mind using three weapons. I roll with the Infra-Knife, Cyclotron, and Rocket Launcher. Open with Cyclotron until their shield is gone, shoot a rocket, then quickly switch to Infra-Knife. You can spam Infra-Knife while the Rocket Launcher cools, so it'll be ready for you to move on to your next target. With upgrades to these weapons on a capable Fighter, you can expect to shred a single pirate fighter ship in a matter of seconds. Sentinels take a little longer, of course, but the strategy still works on them.
I could only last long enough for taking down a sentinal frigate with a phase beam, infra knife, and photon cannon. When getting swarmed, phase beam shield leach is godly. Pirates and sentinels are nothing if I can leech off their shield. Phase beam mods and maxed-out photon cannon are Too Perfectly OP.
I used only photon cannons for around 900 hours of NMS, everything else I tried didn't seem worthwile. Just recently I changed to the infra knife, it gets overheated quicker and the auto-lock often misses the ships when you're through the shield but it does the damage so much faster and although it's supposed to be weaker against shields, maxed out it still whizzes them away ultra-fast. I don't think it's worth bothering with any short-range weapons in this game. The only thing I'd use besides the knife now is maybe a phase beam, so you can charge your shields if needed and keep shooting at the same time.
Epic informative NMS upload @Colmatt, thank you! We haven't gamed NMS on PS for some time and I was confused when after the update all my starship's weapons and tech were all misconfigured or not installed. With the current version can we still setup the weapons with the chain of upgrades in the general cargo inventory? Also that is new to us that we can still 3 more connected upgrades in the technology section per onboard weapon, I've never tried that. That's some off the hook firepower. Game On • Be well kind gamers!
Infra Knife for quick damage. Rockets for a heavy finishing blow. Phase Beam to vampire enemy shielding, as my Sentinel ship doesn’t accept star shield batteries and I don’t want to use all my sodium/radiant shards.
@@ToraAnbu it’s not for damage. It’s a tool to restore shield integrity. I have a sentinel ship and so it won’t take the typical resources to rebuild shield strength when in combat.
@@thedeekabides fair enough, in that case it’s actually pretty good. I also seem to have replied to the wrong comment? Another great vid!! Thanks for uploading!!! There's more upgrades for multi tool and starship weapons available from black market... perhaps a video exploring the best you've found??
I like to use the Phase Beam because it actually recharges your own shield with the shield of your enemies which is nice if you are fighting multiple enemies at once
You use the cyclotron ballista to bring down shields, then flick over to the rocket launcher for one shot now that the hull is exposed, then flick over to the infra-knife accelerator to finish it off before its shields recharge. That's the optimum weapon setup for combat in this game. It's not complicated.
I tried out a cyclotron/infra-knife combo a while ago, but after upgrading both as much as was practical, I realized that the infra-knife still did more damage against shields than my cyclotron did. So I switched to just using it, which also allowed me to fit more upgrades to my ship.
@@lucasstafford1084 Sorry. Once I set that 3-weapon combo up, all the enemies became trivial. Since rockets do all their damage in split second bursts, their dps pretty much stacks with whatever other weapon(s) you're using. It felt optimal.
@@odoylerules360 Rocket takes ages to kill anything. I went for a 4 slot adjacent supercharged infra-knife setup and my ship can pump out 120k dps, with the recent frigate space-battle I took like 15-20s to melt down the entire thing.
That's the setup I was thinking about. Cyclotron for shields, then one shot with rocket launcher. Doesn't seem effective against Sentinels though. They recharge their shields way too fast. For Sentinels I'd say Ejector or Knife are better.
if you put the accuracy boosting upgrade for the positron onto a supercharge slot, it may become accurate enough with enough range to really be an insane choice, especially if all supercharge slots are close by for a huge positron boost
You can take out the shields on a Sentinel Interceptor very easily with just the proton cannons, and then quickly switch and fire the rocket launcher to instantly kill the Sentinel and/or any other ship with its shields down. This is also the *’starting technology’* of any starting ship for a new save. So, unless you want to pair the space shotgun that can shred hulls with the space ballista that can tear through shields, just from the start you can very quickly and easily dispatch most enemy fighters with just protons and rockets. Just remember to craft some starship batteries for when your own shields get low. Especially against a Sentinel Dreadnought.
I am a former positron acolyte, loved that shotgun. Recent changes in the game have made the Infraknife supreme. Im rocking 60k+ dps and it tears up shields and hulls with not much noticeable difference.
I use 3, photon, missiles and the shield charging weapon. Cycling through these keeps my shields up and theirs down....especially useful combo while playing solo vs 4+ enemies
To add up a bit. - Photon Cannon is the only weapon with built-in lock-on, and despite the animation, it is a hitscan weapon, making it the easiest weapon to land hits. - Phase Beam has the longest range of 3000 while everything else have 1500 except Positron Ejector that has 750, same as mobs attack range, but with stupid autolock mechanic it requires much closer range and/or special techniques to land some continuous hit properly. But very good at being a secondary to recharge shield, especially in Living Ship (Grafted Eyes) which almost all the upgrades give Shield Recharge bonus when grown to S. - Cyclotron Ballista has largest projectile hitbox makes it second easiest to shoot next to Photon Cannon
Thanks, I was actually wondering why the other weapons felt weaker to me... but I rely heavily on the built in lock on since I swerve in an out a lot to avoid hits, hence the reason the photon cannon felt more powerful. I hadnt realised that the auto lock on wasn't working for the other weapons.
My chosen armament is the beam and ejector; shotgun for rapid melting and beam to recharge my shield when fighting multiple enemies (I hate manually recharging)
nice, i have two ship setups already both sentinel ships. one uses positron ejector for about 30k dps to shields then rocket launchers to 1 tap ship and the other ship uses infra knife overclocked to the max so it is always just a beam. I'm just floating around space with a c-ram in NMS lol
Hey Colmatt! cool video as always but did you know that if you hold the s key on your keyboard your ship vill automaticly point and turn in the attacker ships direction. With this feature you can attack them and see numbers more easily.
I actually forgot about that, I turned off the assisted flight controls so I completely forgot they were even in the game. That would have been helpful, Ill make sure in future ship videos to turn it back on. Thanks!
I like to chip down the shields with maxed out photon, then deal most of the hull damage with a rocket launcher. If the attacking ship survives, the photon cannon can chip off the rest
1:20 this is going to be very immature of me but I just can't help it. He said do do 😏 for those who are just like me have fun replaying it over and over 🤣
I've found the best technique for phase beams is fire in short, second-long bursts kinda like phasers from Star Trek. I don't think they've overheated on me once since I started doing this. (I also have S-class upgrades, but the idea still works.)
With a ship with 4 supercharge slots squared.. the infra knife is insane.. but back up weapons are cycletron to slow ship down and the rocket launcher to one shot.. I carry those 3 main weapons maxed out and with the infra being supercharged.. it's so much fun combo.. infra the shields and cycle to cycletron (no pun intended) to disable shields.. then the rocket launcher for the one shot kill.. just because we all love to shoot rockets at stuff.. lol.. :).
I have an interceptor but I couldn't do any damage fights were taking so long. Then I found out I had not installed my infra knife on an overclocked slot. That makes a huuuuuuge difference I smoke every ship in few seconds.
I have a couple of sentinels. I put positron ejectors on both of them as the main weapon. To me it's just too good to not use. Not only is it doing a ton of damage, but went on planets you can also use it to harvest material in mass amounts, especially if you have a sentinel ship that can have her in place. The other sentinel ship I have is one of my wingmen. I did minimal upgrades to it to max it out rather than just giving it everything I could give it like my main ship. Then I traded it to an NPC before hiring that NPC, lol
This is cool but my favorite ship that I normally always use is my living ship with tons of tech and weapons. The photon cannon is the best choice I think.
Best starter weapon imo is using a positron eyector or the photon cannon to destroy shields then hit em with the rockets of the starter ship, works wonders for being the starter weapon
I tried them all to see which ones I liked best. I stick with just two weapons. Infra Knife and Rockets. ( I disable the photon cannon, its to weak). You can bring shields down fast with the Info knife and then eliminate them quick with the rocket. You wipe out several enemies quickly and easily. Good thing is it does not matter which ship ( fighter, shuttle, hauler, interceptor or solar ) you install them on it the same damage unlike photo cannon. Cyclotron Ballista is a fun option too.
Ill havr to look at what exactly is specifically going on, but i have somehow managed to make a cyclotron ballista that is a decently fast damage dealer. To the point that i don't even switch weapons during dreadnaught combat and i only switch to rockets for fighting other small ships for the extra burst damage.
I’ve ran the Infra-Knife and Positron Ejector and I’ve had no want or need for anything else. For enemy ships, Positron shots until I overheat, then switch to Infra to finish them off (if they weren’t dead already). For freighters/“boss” ships, the Infra melts everything
Personally, I go with a positron, cyclotron combo.... sometimes with a little rocket finisher just for a little flare or free fireworks. Otherwise I go with the infraknife/positron combo so it cover distance and up close all on 1 little ship.
You’re also forgetting that each weapon has a dedicated purpose The cyclotron is mainly for taking down shields, the phase beam also does similar except it leeches it to recharge your own shields. I mainly run cyclotron ballista + infra knife
On a s class-you will find that it will take an amazing five, photon Canon upgrades, possibly a A or x class at the very last/list,it is possibly the very best upgrade of all.
You can turn on assisted flight control, it allows you to hold S and the game will auto track an enemy, can also target switch with , . on PC no idea what it is on controller sorry.. they broke it since last patch, have to turn it on before i start the game or it don't work, and if it goes out during, restart game..
If you have the nanites i would recomend getting max X class modules. My DPS is 54k on the infraknife. I have 2 max x class and the 3rd is 1% off of perfect
my first dreadnought battle, the civilians died the pirates escaped, my second one the same thing happened but i realized i can just fly through their shield generators breaking them doing little to no damage to myself lol
I find the playstyle of shredding shields with cyclotron and then switching to hit rockets is super satisfying just in terms of playing mechanics. That said, if you aren't using auto targeting and you miss the rocket it feels REAL bad. Also, if you don't have it in a fighter don't bother, because if you're not one-shotting with rockets it feels real bad to wait on that cooldown.
For this reason I do it like this: Cyclotron with mods to burn shields, then scale to rockets (no mods) once they're down or close to down with one shot, then quickly to Infraknives with mods to delete the remainder.
really glad you told us 100 times you'd be going over the upgrades. never would have guess if you hadn't repeated yourself 100 times. Probably wouldve been a 2 minute video without the repetition.
Infra-knifr is technically the highest DPS and is great for nuking Frieghter ships, but i find it very awkward to use in dog fights. Sometimes i have the sights aimed right on the ship even head on and i still miss. Cycltron Ballista helps slow down ships. Excellent secondary weapon even with zero over charged slots used. I used to use the Positron Ejector but its not a gold choice for Frieghter ships. Mu new favorite is the Photon Cannon: can shoot a long time, has some auto aim, and deals solid damage.

I personally used to use the positron ejector but after maxing out my photon cannon I almost never use any other weapons.
A great weapon indeed, I normally swap between the photon cannnon and the infraknife. Thanks for Watching!
I agree. Max out photons and have torpedos for those bastards that run away!
thats very true i go for maxed out photon cannon and infra knife and have a cyclotron as a secondary and SOMETIMES i may have a phase beam as an emergency shield recharge. if i plan on battling sentinels, i may also have a positron ejector and a rocket launcher as extra heavy hitting weapons.
You might be missing out on a full life, but if it works, why change? Your game, your choice, rock on.
Trying to find X-mods for them is driving me insane.
rocket pods don't have mods aside from researchable one
I use sentinel ships which can float without moving. Between a wonky AI in my ship and the dumb team squadrons that fly into you during combat those are my two biggest complaints in the game.
Glad I’m not the only one 😂
How do you go about “re-rolling “ the x mods?
I love having multiple weapons on the ship, but cycling through them is such a chore
I'm using the INFRA-KNIFE with it outputting 46,293 DPS on the Hull and 30,862 on shieds
YOOOO I'M MATTS 1,000TH SUB!!!! well done man, very good and informative, good quality and to the point. You deserve it man.
Thanks for Watching and Thanks Greatly for the Subscription! I still can’t believe i even hit 1k.
@@Colmatt now we just need this video, but the waypoint update 😀 999 didn't look right so i had to make it 1k, still can't believe you don't have more subs.
Infra-knife accelerator is OP with a few upgrade modules
The best combo is the ballista to delete shields/stun the ship and infra knife to shred the hull
Oh yes, you can gun down the enemies like its nothing with that combo!
I use phase bean to drain shields and heal me then the shotgun for instant deletion
A few hundred hours into the game and Ive never used infra knife or the shotgun variant for my ship 🤣 will definitely give them a try!! TY!!!
You should definitely give the shot gun a chance. That thing is op af maxed out 😂
I used only photon cannons for around 900 hours of NMS, everything else I tried didn't seem worthwile.
Just recently I changed to the infra knife, it gets overheated quicker and the auto-lock often misses the ships when you're through the shield but it does the damage so much faster
and although it's supposed to be weaker against shields, maxed out it still whizzes them away ultra-fast.
Thank you for the concise and straight to the point video
infra knife, 3 mods in main, 3 mods in tech, don't need anything else.
And that’s why its my favorite weapon in the game. Because unlike the positron ejector you can fire from miles away and still do insane damage.
@@Colmatt having Phase beam for that shield regen is always a good secondary.
Hi - what do you mean by 3 mods main and 3 mods tech? You can only have 3 mods max, 4 including the anomaly mod… can you explain please?
@@kitstorm5326older version of the game worked differently.
@@kitstorm5326 inventory changed in the last update, previously there were two types of inventories that you could install tech in.
Infra Knife for quick damage.
Rockets for a heavy finishing blow.
Phase Beam to vampire enemy shielding, as my Sentinel ship doesn’t accept star shield batteries and I don’t want to use all my sodium/radiant shards.
The phase beam is pretty bad.. almost all other weapons are better than the beam maxxed out.
I could swear I replied to someone that said the phase beam is the best weapon in the game. You didn’t even call it fantastic or anything. This is a great run down, thanks!
Glad it was helpful, also Thanks for Watching!
Another great vid!! Thanks for uploading!!!
There's more upgrades for multi tool and starship weapons available from black market... perhaps a video exploring the best you've found??
Thanks for Watching! And yes for sure ill show off some black market upgrades. Ive been thinking of a S-Class vs X-Class video!
This was very helpful, thank you.
i get your preference, but i gotta go with the Position Ejector, when you primarily fly a hauler that spread really makes a difference.
I like to use the Phase Beam because it actually recharges your own shield with the shield of your enemies which is nice if you are fighting multiple enemies at once
God tier your Photon and it’s lethal.
I use maxed photon cannon, but I also have a shuttle with Positron Ejector for resources hoovering when planetside
I didn’t even think to mention gathering resources but yeah the positron ejector is definitely the best for that!
Awesome video, thanks for the explanations 👍
You use the cyclotron ballista to bring down shields, then flick over to the rocket launcher for one shot now that the hull is exposed, then flick over to the infra-knife accelerator to finish it off before its shields recharge. That's the optimum weapon setup for combat in this game. It's not complicated.
I tried out a cyclotron/infra-knife combo a while ago, but after upgrading both as much as was practical, I realized that the infra-knife still did more damage against shields than my cyclotron did. So I switched to just using it, which also allowed me to fit more upgrades to my ship.
that was an impressively derisive way to voice your opinion, I'm impressed lol. Maybe don't do that though.
There is only the infra knife, even vs shields its way, way better than anything else.
Same here, ever since the infraknife buff its been my go to for space combat.
@Jose I think it can get up to 130 k raw dmg and 110k shield dmg if you have the 4 super charger in 2 by 2 square(2 on top and 2 on the bottom)
Phase beam is great in permadeath where I dont want to risk dying.
Position ejector for me, very high dmg and forgiving on the aim, very good video, thx
amazing vid man!
nice, i have two ship setups already both sentinel ships. one uses positron ejector for about 30k dps to shields then rocket launchers to 1 tap ship and the other ship uses infra knife overclocked to the max so it is always just a beam. I'm just floating around space with a c-ram in NMS lol
I swear my infra knife broken, it does no damage to non shielded enemies and only to shielded ones
Hey Colmatt! cool video as always but did you know that if you hold the s key on your keyboard your ship vill automaticly point and turn in the attacker ships direction. With this feature you can attack them and see numbers more easily.
L2 on console
I actually forgot about that, I turned off the assisted flight controls so I completely forgot they were even in the game. That would have been helpful, Ill make sure in future ship videos to turn it back on. Thanks!
Dont forget that you can set it to be toggled instead of holding the button. Idk if can on pc but on ps4 definitely can
I like to chip down the shields with maxed out photon, then deal most of the hull damage with a rocket launcher.
I carry those 3 main weapons maxed out and with the infra being supercharged.. it's so much fun combo.. infra the shields and cycle to cycletron (no pun intended) to disable shields.. then the rocket launcher for the one shot kill.. just because we all love to shoot rockets at stuff.. lol.. :).
1:20 "Do do" 💩 😅😂
I have an interceptor but I couldn't do any damage fights were taking so long.
The phase beam actually charges your shield with no upgrades, the upgrade just gives you extra on the initial impact
Add S class mods to it, use it often and you will never need to charge your shields from the menu.
Infra-knife for damage and phase beam to replenish shield. Anything else is practically useless.
Your settings must be very different that mine. Photon Cannon barely scratches anything for me.
I really wish the Rocket Launcher got its own upgrade modules, rockets are so cool
homing upgrade, long range upgrade...
I’ve ran the Infra-Knife and Positron Ejector and I’ve had no want or need for anything else. For enemy ships, Positron shots until I overheat, then switch to Infra to finish them off (if they weren’t dead already). For freighters/“boss” ships, the Infra melts everything
I like the cyclotron ballista is like a chunky infra knife accelerator although it damages the hull like you are cooking a chicken by slapping it
Personally, I go with a positron, cyclotron combo.... sometimes with a little rocket finisher just for a little flare or free fireworks. Otherwise I go with the infraknife/positron combo so it cover distance and up close all on 1 little ship.
Ive never actually tried the infraknife/positron combo, ill for sure have to give that a try. It sounds really op.
Flair? 😬 🤮
You’re also forgetting that each weapon has a dedicated purpose
The cyclotron is mainly for taking down shields, the phase beam also does similar except it leeches it to recharge your own shields.
I mainly run cyclotron ballista + infra knife
On a s class-you will find that it will take an amazing five, photon Canon upgrades, possibly a A or x class at the very last/list,it is possibly the very best upgrade of all.
I use the Photon cannon at long range, switch to Positron at close range. I'll use the phase beam if I need a shield boost.
I normally try to run 1 maxed out weapon per ship but I’ll swap it up on each ship to keep the combat fresh.
@@Colmatt Certainly a viable strategy using one weapon. If I liked the way the infra-knife worked that could easily be a single weapon loadout.
I'd like a video on how you keep the enemies in front of you like in this video. I have trouble locating the enemy ships after they fly past me.
I can for sure make a video on that. Ill make sure to throw in a few extra tips for space combat as well. Thanks for Watching!
@@Colmatt Sounds good! I'm sure I'm not the only noob here that could use this info or atleast I hope not.

@@KemachrisThanks. Another thing the game doesn't tell you lol. I'll look it up for the Xbox series X
I once had my positron upgrade a little too much that when firing no sound and i would lag myself lol
I don't think I've ever had that happen to me personally but It doesn't surprise me tbh.
@@Colmatt it was pretty funny to lag myself but it was like 3 major updates ago. So idk if can still happen.

@@italianbasegard early reply
If you keep pressing the fire button instead of holdinging it, no weapon other than the rocket launcher can overheat, even without upgrades.
I just use the photon lasers with the missiles. Lower their shields, then blow them up. Usually works.
the phase beam isn't supposed to be held down. you tap it and it drops enemy shields and hull faster than holding it down.
Positron after Rockets is easy enough
Put the rocket launcher in supercharged slot, you should be one shotting enemies in most cases
Did they take out general and all those other slot categories that I see y'all showing?
Infra-knife is best for me hands down! Fast, deadly, and effective. In a supercharge slot with upgrades, it’s all I need.
The Positron Ejector has been the most useful ship weapon for me.
It does a lot of damage to enemy pilots. And gets rid of their shields quickly.
really glad you told us 100 times you'd be going over the upgrades. never would have guess if you hadn't repeated yourself 100 times.
My go-to strategy is to weaken w/ infra-knife, then go for the kill with rockets,
Dude I have that same ship! I've never seen it anywhere since I got it.
My personal favorites are the Cyclotron Ballista, Infra Knifes, and Rockets
Phase beam for shield drain, sentinal photon cannon for range and positron ejector up close.
I like the phase lasers, reminds me of star trek and star wars
3 weapons you need.
Infra Knife
Posi Ejector
Ballista
Also to fully upgrade youll need to hunt down parts on the black market.
also look at the techs like a big circuit board... swap component around to link and amplify other components...
all tech works this way weither it be Ship, Freighter, Exosuit, Multitool, or Exocraft.
For my ships they all have about:
600DP
Forgot my shield strength i think its like 700 or 800 not sure.
150HR
2200M
I sacrafice my ships Hyper drive cuz my freighter jumps about 5000LY and i dont go anywhere with out my freighter close by.
Infra knife then rockets, but use shield stealer thing when I need to.
when upgraded to max i think the infraknife kills the fastest like within 1-2 seconds if you can keep shots on point
