The colossus should be a mobile base, since it's not as fast or maneuverable as the other exocraft, it should have a couple of exclusive tech modules like refiners, resource scanners, environmental protection (like the minotaur), maybe some other things, but it would definitely make it more competitive with the other exos, give it a reason to actually be used
The Minotaur is, hands-down, the best of the exocrafts. You got a one-slot, protects-all environmental system, as part of the deal. That alone, seals it, for me.
to make the colossus better after 4.0 since all exo have hella storage: - give it a portable refiner - give it invisibility cloaking technology like your suit has so you can use it on heavily patrolled planets - maybe the most advanced scanner
@@morganpriest7726 that would be fire. anything that makes it feel like a portable base, kinda like the portable function of freighters but way smaller scalee
Should be a small refiner to start with an upgrade for medium then large refiner. It’d be nice to have atmosphere collection built in and maybe an option to scan fauna/flora/minerals as you drive. That last one should be available on all exocraft to smoothen gameplay imo, but it’d be appropriate for the giant rover.
The Minotaur goes in the water also, with no need for oxygen when inside. It can sometimes be a challenge to get back onto dry land, but it walks or jetpacks just fine.
My idea for these would be to add additional weaponry to the minotaur (like missiles, rail guns, etc.) Would be cool to fight ships in the mech. Colossus should be a mobile base like everyone is saying. You should be able to get in the back and walk around inside too. The motorcycle needs to be even faster. The hover car need to be multiplayer carry capable. The offroad car should get a warthog type gun that a buddy can ride in and shoot from.
BRO, THESE ARE SOME GOOD IDEAS! hope they add this in the future, walking around the colossus and having multiple players on the same car would be hella badass
awesome suggestions! Now I'm dreaming of an expedition themed around the crafts when HG do upgrade them - imagine the Colossus being much bigger, more like a walking tower that you can build-expand (to a limit ofc) with different stations inside and even recruit crew to staff it, like you can recruit pilots for your freighter squadron.
Good rundown. To be honest though I haven't cared much at all for any of them except the Minotaur and the Nautilon - and even those only occasionally. They all could do with a major revamp not just to make them more useful but unique between one another. This video made me think why I should still bother using them more often and as I've just started my permadeath run for the last achieve... yep, I think they're a lot more useful on a permadeath save, not just for protection but also for the extra storage since those stack limits are extremely annoying and cumbersome. I'll definitely approach the Colossus with that in mind now. Thanks for the vid!
Love the pilgrim. Indispensible for ancient bones hunts, chasing down resources like storm crystals, and pretty much anything too far to walk but too short to fly. When targeting an item it will also display the distance until arrival. Also, you can catch serious air with no damage. Jumping between two colliding planets is a real gas.
I wish the colossus had some sort of auto mining ability that you could just put a filter on and it would track down and mine by itself while driving around, would make it a really unique vehicle
Spent a good chunk of yesterday's NMS session fixing up all my exocrafts after the 4.0 changes and this morning, YT suggests this video... Looks like I have a new channel to watch! 🍻
They should make the Colossus have an interior with useful things you can place inside it, maybe a refiner and maybe you could hire an NPC to control a turret on it, generally just make it into a tank
As someone that just started this game for the first time recently (just got to the part of the base computer research to build one of these) I want to thank you. I seriously wondered why I would ever need or use one of these. You answered that nicely.
I personally use the Pilgrim the most because of its speed and agility, but I have to admit that I use the Nomad more and more (and of course especially on planet with a lot of water pockets) and it might become my go to. But the Minotaur is of course my choice on harsh planets, and the ones filled with mountains, I found it slow at first but the jetpack refill quite instantly so it's not so slow after all! The good thing with the Minotaur is that you don't even have to go out of it to gather storm crystals for example, really handy! I never use the Colossus (nor the Roamer) but it looks cool in a base :D I just discovered this channel and really like it, tons of good stuff to watch, thanks!
Minotaur is definitely my favorite, just because you feel so unkillable in it. Plus, I believe you can also use it for Underwater exploring and mining, and you don't lose O2 when inside of it underwater. If I'm not looking for any sort of structures in particular when in oceans or seas, I'll just hop in the giant robot all Pacific-Rim style

I find for hunting radiant crystals and inverted mirrors, the Nomad, Pilgrim and Roamer all really come out to shine, you can quicklyc lose the distance between the crystals safely and efficiently, mine them and quickly leave before sentinels get angry. In the case of inverted mirrors, you'll always anger them, and evading them is just easier in a faster exocraft. Set the radiant crystals in whatever inventory has more space and it'll deposit them where-ever they are already stacked and your good to go. Very fast and efficient nanite farming.
Thanks for the video. The Minotaur can go underwater and stay protected. You can also harvest ore deposits just like with your terrain manipulator. Keeping in mind using the small beam still gives you more.I have been able to store modules and swap them between vehicles at least for the ground vehicles. Pilgrim Roemer colossus nomad. Affectively only having to use one set. This is probably a bug but I noticed when using the hazard modules their charge has not been depleting even after running around for an hour. my favorite is the colossus the modules that I would like to get on it is industrial modules.
my problem with the excrafts is that they're too expensive to really make good use of in the early game, but in the mid-late game i have more than enough storage in my exosuit, my multitool can mine anything in milliseconds and can kill anything instantly and my ship has autochargers and only uses 1-2% per launch. if i want shorter ranged travel, i just melee boost everywhere which is far faster than any exocraft and longer ranged travel i just get in my ship. there's also not enough on planet surfaces to warrant using them, all the points of interest aside from portals hold very little value in the late game and there's not enough variety of terrains and biomes on each planet to make exploring for the sake of exploring worth it. the only exocraft i make any use of is the minotaur, and that's only as a combat bot when fighting lots of sentinels, but it's mostly there to draw aggro and doesn't do most of the damage. i wish there was more use for exocrafts because they're super cool, but individual planets just don't have enough interesting content to make exploring them for ages worth it

I have to commend based on personal observations. normal exocraft enviromental protections do not deplete, and therefore don't need to be recharged either. But what makes the minotaur's better than the others is that, besides it is being a 4-in-one, it actually is a 5-in-one, additionally offering underwater support. In the other exocrafts, while you can be underwater indefinite, it only lasts while you don't exit the vehicle. If you exit and return, your breath continues to deplete as normal. The minotaur on the other hand, once you return to it from a swim, you replenish your oxygen upon your re-entry.
I use the minotaur for all my underwater stuff too. The AI on it is just so handy whenever you go into battle with sentinels, or the whispering egg nexus missions
I like things that change shape a lot (interceptor/sentinel and solar ships are my favs too), so if the colossus would have an option to deploy and enable you to get access to some freighter/base functionality would be cool. Thing of deploying a mining drill to mine resources even while away for example. Also while deployed it having a an interior and option to install a teleporter would be lit.
Can't the Minotaur be used underwater as well? I would like if Hello Games would add an upgrade for the exocraft. Make a ram scoop. So as we drive and destroy stuff we get some of the value of the destroyed object back.
Yes, the Minotaur can be used underwater. However, you have to summon it on land first and pilot it into the water. When I go underwater I used the Minotaur with the AI disabled.
Be careful using the minotaur underwater because it has a crush depth and there are deep areas that will trap your minotaur. It's easier to handle underwater than the Nautilion- the absolute worst exocraft in the game. The camera and tank controls have never been in synch with each other, so movement required constant stopping and adjusting the camera.
@@daustin315 Welcome. I found out the hard way! Tried to complete a Quicksilver run for that underwater base, summoned my minotaur and while jumping, landed into an abyss. All my numbers went red and then had the headache of recovering my grave marker from 2000 units deep. And the giant angler fish horrors there are NO joke!!! Edit: they're hard to acquire because you have to kill a lot of sentinels to get them, but some drop rare X class modules for exocraft, one is a kind of destruction accumulator but it functions through your weapons. Usually a 2 to 3X multiplier for objects.
The only tech that takes advantage of the supercharger slots is the ones with visible stats. If you want a better mining laser, plug the advanced mining laser upgrade into the supercharger, not the regular laser module since it has no stats for example. Typically upgrades except for the starship that mostly has stats for almost everything
Unless it was changed during the 4.0 update, and wasn't listed on the patch notes, the Icarus Fuel System exocraft recharger only applies to the Minotaur. Pre-4.0 I tested it with all the other exocrafts while base building for a few hours and only the Minotaur actually received any benefit from having it installed.
Do you regret doing the Trace Of Metal mission that turned your Minotaur into an AI machine? because now we cant change the color and I liked the original cockpit.
You could delete the upgrades still I know what you mean going through the mission and getting all the upgrades. only to find out you can’t change the colour sucks. be nice if you hade the option to change between the original and new cockpit 😢
I don't personally because i think it looks a lot cooler overall but i do wish that we could change the color of the sentinel parts. You should also just be able to just delete the parts though especially with the new 4.0 update you can just store the upgrades and use them when you need them.
I think ill do a video in the future as a part 2 with maxed out upgrades. Because I agree, they almost don’t even feel the same with good s class upgrades.
IMHO the Minotaur is the only one worth having. The jump jets give good travel speed and mobility and it kills hostile stuff. Since the last big update I have more storage space than I know what to do with, and the lack of a scanning visor thing means if I'm gathering stuff I spend too much time getting in and out of vehicles fot them to be worthwhile. Using them for Sentinels isn't that helpful since the Sentinels never seem to stop coming. It's far easier to run away or dig a long tunnel to hide in. I sometimes use the motorcycle as a runabout to get from my base to my mines, but it's hardly necessary. The sub is handy because it's a sub, but the only reason to go in the water is to collect the materials I need to build a water base. I have no use for a water base so I tend to skip the whole thing. IMHO the motorcycle needs a speed bump, the sub needs to allow you to go deeper than you could otherwise (not that deep water is common at all), and the Colossus needs to be a mobile base with refining and cooking capability. It would be cool if the Colossus could park, then expand into a large room with built in tech, kind of like an RV. Final thought is that the hovercraft would be great if it was combined with the sub so you could switch between modes and have a dedicated amphibious diver and surface scout. That would be cool for water world's.
Yeah the Minotaur kinda gets used 90% of the time for me so I see that. And I hope in the future we get a exocraft update to add more features because I feel like they leave a lot to be desired in their current state.
Hey, cool, you showed me how to disable minotaur AI without removing the Upgrade. That fella used to follow me everywhere and trampled on the flowers. Not a real quiet compagnion.
I just started playing and for about a week now, I like the video but I still dont get the use of the first 5 exocraft. I find it much easier and faster to fly from spot to spot and 99% of the time I am never away from a base long enough to run out of space.
gotta say that the nomad is the best a really good speed can fly over water hightest air time the the way you showed and can go anywere but destroys everthing in the way
anyone have any idea what happened to the minotaur stun cannon (right arm)?after the update ive seen that the upgraded mining laser on my minotaur doesn't do as much damage as it used to to stunned target.i dont if this was the right arm or left arm fault
All that and you missed the one and only relevant point of any exocraft in game. The Minotaur can scan for distress signals. The sub can as well, but not nearly as easy to summon when you need it. Chlorine is gone for early game cash, so the Minotaur can help fill that gap early game. Harvest some meat super early. Convert meat to level 3 stew or whatever version that meat makes. Sell stew to Chronos for nanites. Get a minotaur set up and about 10 minutes into game you have unlimited free ships to scrap for cash flow.
I had mentioned the ship hunting with the sub close to the end of the vid, but I didn’t know that it was possible to do so with the Minotaur. Thanks for tip!
I really haven't found much of a use for any of the EXO craft. The only thing that even sounded somewhat interesting is using them to store carbon but I'll usually just jump in my ship use the positron ejector and collect until my cargo bay is full of carbon and it's a lot faster than an exocraft.
Is there still no throttle/ speed control? I remember exocrafts being a pain to drive, especially in VR, since you just had two speeds ...fast and stop
I find riding the wildlife a quick way to get across terrain fast.. certain ones go well quick .. i've got a robot walker type that literally skips over anything and moves faster then any of the vehicles even kitted up.. also certain butterfly types are fast..
question - do you know if the terrain manipulator of the mining laser pulls more or less efficiently than the handheld TM? And the handheld has small/med/big options. and the big is much less efficient. how does it compare?
I dont like the drag when you go into first person with them, it feels really bad. I also think they should be faster and we should be able to upgrade the inventory, since i hate this patchy look.. love the game but the exo crafts need a rework
@@Colmatt they still are the fastest way to move on land (the nomad is the best because it flies over water). For medium distances its the best way of travel (launching and landing your ship will take longer for distances like 600 u)
Yeah I worded it weird, I meant if you needed to summon underwater. As far as I know the others would have to be summoned on land then you could drive into the water.
I really don't know why you'd leave out the only thing the actually makes them worth using. Supercharged slots turn them from trash to amazing. Pilgrim can hit 60u/s and 6s+ airtime on jumps. Nomad easily hits 50u/s and their basic C scan will show pretty much everything on your normal hud that you'd find via visor. Perfect for chasing down alien words/gravitino balls. Stock exocraft are effectively useless.
I don't have a Pilgrim... I didn't know it even existed. There was no plan to build one and the exocraft specialist didn't offer building one. There is no technology for Pilgrim and when summoning, I didn't notice it as an option. It is as if it didn't exist in the game at all..
Are they worth it? Short answer is NO. Long answer is : If I can get a fast enough companion which automatically moves forward so I can simultaneously hold the scanner as I go and stop whenever I want that costs less resources to function and is endless AND it can ignore terrain collision or even pitfalls do I really need to bother myself with an exocraft? Then no,they aint worth it and are indeed inferior to companions when you put together the pros and cons.
Question Does anyone have a problem every time i use a exocraft i start to see a black mist all around me and also around looks like its raining black small squares and is kinda of annoying
I just tried to play NMS after months of not, so try 4.0, and my saves have been lost. More than 1000 hours of playing over years, and it's all gone. I'm so upset.
I prefer Minotaur, because it is the most powerful and quickest... With the boost, you can make incredibly high and far jumps - which is the biggest fun! The jumps are so powerful and fast, that it makes it the speediest exocraft! Nomad does weak jumps compared to it. Minotaur does few times bigger ones. When falling down, it never gets damaged! NEVER! With boosted mining and weapon, it is the most efficient way of mining. Things that normally we have to wait on, just disappear in seconds. It also has powerful weapons and AI. However, the game mechanic is broken in this regard, because in the fight, the advanced AI was the first one to break and now I can't build it anymore because of the incredibly rare item that is needed to build it. The quest to create it anew is also broken, because the person that suppose to give you a middle component is not doing that, at least not from the component that the quest is suggesting, while the right one, is incredibly rare to find. The biggest con is that Minotaur can't climb vertical mountains (which are rare but still). And yes, no buried technology visible on the radar - need to mount out.
0:47 - Pilgrim
4:33 - Roamer

Yes, the Minotaur can be used underwater. However, you have to summon it on land first and pilot it into the water. When I go underwater I used the Minotaur with the AI disabled.
Be careful using the minotaur underwater because it has a crush depth and there are deep areas that will trap your minotaur. It's easier to handle underwater than the Nautilion- the absolute worst exocraft in the game. The camera and tank controls have never been in synch with each other, so movement required constant stopping and adjusting the camera.
@@youtubemusicowesmemoney8470 Thanks for the info.
@@youtubemusicowesmemoney8470 I have yet to get any exo craft mods from the sentinals
I personally use the colossus as my main exocraft, I just like how big it is, my second one is always the Minotaur.
The only tech that takes advantage of the supercharger slots is the ones with visible stats. If you want a better mining laser, plug the advanced mining laser upgrade into the supercharger, not the regular laser module since it has no stats for example. Typically upgrades except for the starship that mostly has stats for almost everything
While I liked most of em already good to see em get some love. I use the Colossus as a mobile storage vault too.
Keep up the good work love the content
Thanks for Watching!
Can you add more inventory slots to ecocraft, like you can with your exosuit, freighter, and starship?
Unless it was changed during the 4.0 update, and wasn't listed on the patch notes, the Icarus Fuel System exocraft recharger only applies to the Minotaur.
Pre-4.0 I tested it with all the other exocrafts while base building for a few hours and only the Minotaur actually received any benefit from having it installed.
That's good to know, I haven't actually tested it so that's news to me.
it used to work in previous updates but its defintiely bugged sometimes. As of 4.0.5 i believe its functional
I wish you had gotten your upgrades. People always underestimate how fun these are fully upgraded.
I think ill do a video in the future as a part 2 with maxed out upgrades. Because I agree, they almost don’t even feel the same with good s class upgrades.
If the Environmental systems are universal for the small bois, you could, if being particular about it, use the tech storage to swap em out.
Actually a really good point. Im still not totally used to the new tech storage system but i would imagine that would work.
I like your accent bro it's quite different
Thanks for the info
I just started playing and for about a week now, I like the video but I still dont get the use of the first 5 exocraft. I find it much easier and faster to fly from spot to spot and 99% of the time I am never away from a base long enough to run out of space.
We need a way to get at the storage of our exocrafts on the freighter. The exocraft materializer should allow for that.
gotta say that the nomad is the best a really good speed can fly over water hightest air time the the way you showed and can go anywere but destroys everthing in the way
The Minotaur is amphibious! It can go underwater, too.
I just got my Sentinal Mech and my sentinal that was a nice mission!
anyone have any idea what happened to the minotaur stun cannon (right arm)?after the update ive seen that the upgraded mining laser on my minotaur doesn't do as much damage as it used to to stunned target.i dont if this was the right arm or left arm fault
I can test out mine when i record this weekend and see, but I haven’t seen anyone else saying the same thing.
If you get the beetles and make them really large then you can cover a lot of ground insanely fast.
Do you have a guide how to get off the ground from the start in survival?
I have hard time understanding how to upgrade engines for exocraft. It seems like. Is the roamer and pilgrim interchangeable?
Pilgrim is epic, especially on a low gravity world. I'm certain I've almost launched myself into space with mine. 🤣
Sometimes ill go out of my way to find the biggest ramps I can to jump on the low grav worlds.
question - do you know if the terrain manipulator of the mining laser pulls more or less efficiently than the handheld TM? And the handheld has small/med/big options. and the big is much less efficient. how does it compare?
I dont like the drag when you go into first person with them, it feels really bad. I also think they should be faster and we should be able to upgrade the inventory, since i hate this patchy look.. love the game but the exo crafts need a rework
I couldn't agree more. Exocrafts could be something truly special but they leave a lot to be desired.
@@Colmatt they still are the fastest way to move on land (the nomad is the best because it flies over water). For medium distances its the best way of travel (launching and landing your ship will take longer for distances like 600 u)
@@Colmatt @Fox Mulder One fun thing to to is using the nomad on planets with low gravity (dead planets) you can fly so far and high!
Nomad is every ones favorite
Thank you I find its really confusing sometimes sense there are so many options
Yeah it can be overwhelming sometimes. Thanks for Watching!
Is "exocrafts" the craft of crafting exocraft?
you can use other exocrafts underwater too, its not linited to nautilon
Yeah I worded it weird, I meant if you needed to summon underwater. As far as I know the others would have to be summoned on land then you could drive into the water.
Do you really think the Colossus is still useful after the update ?
I mean we now have enough space in the other Exocrafts in my opinion
In its current state. No, I don't think i will be using it near as much anymore, unless they make it more useful than the others with more upgrades.
can you carry some of the vehicles in specific space ships?
I really don't know why you'd leave out the only thing the actually makes them worth using. Supercharged slots turn them from trash to amazing. Pilgrim can hit 60u/s and 6s+ airtime on jumps. Nomad easily hits 50u/s and their basic C scan will show pretty much everything on your normal hud that you'd find via visor. Perfect for chasing down alien words/gravitino balls. Stock exocraft are effectively useless.
I mentioned them but it was later in the video, looking back I should have said something right away though.
I don't have a Pilgrim... I didn't know it even existed. There was no plan to build one and the exocraft specialist didn't offer building one. There is no technology for Pilgrim and when summoning, I didn't notice it as an option. It is as if it didn't exist in the game at all..
Nomad also lets you drive, straight up a steep mountain. This nomad made me l8ke the mountains planets.
imo Colossus has always been worth it. even on super hard/expensive mode, it's not that expensive to get/make
How do you upgrade the minotaur jetpack, you can't get upgrade modules for the jetpack
Just upgrading the engine in the Minotaur is what worked for me, I can’t remember the exact part name.
@@Colmatt cool, I'll give that a try, thanks
Nice work you did there. Appreciate it. Thank you L/s Sub number 904
Im glad it was helpful, and Thanks for Subscribing!
And a year after this video I was wondering the same thing. I never see anyone use them except for the Nautilon.
What if you go in the water with them?
I love that this game has evolved so much you have to check the upload date to make sure what you're watching is valid 😂🎉
Can any of the exos go over water?
I think the Roamer and Colossus can also drive underwater
They can, they tend to move very slowly underwater though or at least every time I’ve tried.
Nomad is the only one worth having. The others gets stuck. Minotaur is ok'ish, but quite annoying to use.
We have hovercrafts irl like the nomad too😆
I still wish there was a way to upgrade the storage, unless I'm missing something on that.
Same here, I’m hoping they add it soon. All they would have to do it make your exocraft base vendor sell them and that would be problem solved.
Question
Does anyone have a problem every time i use a exocraft i start to see a black mist all around me and also around looks like its raining black small squares and is kinda of annoying
Fights = Minotaur
Colossus = Farming mats
Nomad = explore only
Others i would say are not that good (except for nautilon but that's obvious i guess)
How do I get the minotaur?
You need to purchase it from the base parts vendor aboard the Anomaly. And there is a separate quest to get the sentinel parts for the Minotaur.
I just tried to play NMS after months of not, so try 4.0, and my saves have been lost. More than 1000 hours of playing over years, and it's all gone. I'm so upset.
I hate that, luckily I haven’t experienced it first hand but I know it is fairly common for some of the community.
You don't need to recharge the environmental shields for any of the exocrafts, not only the minotaur.
I think the roamer goes under water to
I worded it weird but i meant can be summoned underwater. You would still have to summon the roamer on land then go in the water.
