I know your review was for the Red Cat Wendigo. But what I was very impressed with was the photography. I am so appreciative that you use a camera person; so you don't have to drive one handed, like so many other TH-cam RC reviewers do.

I'm pretty sure you have your Helios batteries mixed up. The 3s 3700 fits perfect in the stock capra. The 3s 3500, or 3000 is a tight fit. That 5200 pack is over 30mm longer the the other ones. Also in the rear is a Anti-Sway bar :)
I've got one of these,it's fun. I'm building it into a crawler. I've got a set of otsix usd stickies, weighted bead locks, a mamba x, and a 2700kv ten shooter coming for it.
Hey Mr. Holmes! We did a fe vids on the durability of ours too! This thing is a beast! I am super interested in what you do to make it have more crawl ability. I have played with it a lot and I feel its just a tad too fast for its suspension. It wants to have a lot of body roll and is super tough on corners speed! We have a little home track and this thing will hit a double jump but is super hard to settle down after the landing. Thanks for making some awesome content!

ARB. Anti-Roll Bar. Designed specifically to slow or limit the chassis roll over the axle. Also known as a Sway Bar. A torsion bar like you mentioned, is one of the parts of a 3 piece Anti-Roll bar set up. The other two pieces are the axle end links. The torsion bar in that set up is essentially a spring. A spring that works through Torsional rigidity rather than compression rigidity(like a coil or leaf spring does). Edit: Also I'm looking at the dimensions on that thing. Right in 1/8th scale territory. Too big to be a 1/10th scale. Nice rig though. I'd definitely ditch that stock ESC and Motor though. Go with a Castle Sensored setup with a Mamba X and something right around 3100-3200kV

My drive train did not survive 1512 castle 2650KV Also they included plastic transmission gears or nylon whichever you like I replaced them with the Gen 8 axe trans gears in steel but I had to slightly modify the cross pin to fit. But I did the builders kit,maybe it is different?

Does the stopping and starting when you just dialed up the throttle trim give you any sense of the pole count on the motor without having pulled it apart?
I have been saving up to refit my C2X with your equipment but this came out and it's very tempting... BTW should we be expecting your ESC's to ever come back in stock?
I've not been too impressed with my c2x sadly. Haven't worked out the top heavy problem, even with a microX, stubby revolver, and tiny 3s pack to.cut down the weight...
Hey Holmes I I’m havin trouble with my rock racer. My wires going from my esc to my motor get blistering hot whenever I drive this thing. I have a castle Sidewinder4 and a 1415 2800 kv castle motor. 2/3s either one I’m having this issue with. I’ve checked all my soldering and everything looks good. I’m going nuts trying to find the problem here. Esc works perfect with any other motor.
Seems like maybe one of three get hot sooner/hotter to the touch than the others but when I push it and I’m having fun all three can boil off water. The system is in a losi rock Rey stock gearing with a 16t pinion.
Definitely needs a sensored system ...but for out of the box its fun....the battery straps are a issue it caused one of my batterys to get damaged from falling out....
Would you call a Capra or Bomber a rock racer....? My 2.2 rig, SCX chassis based now....began it's life as the original AX10 Scorpion Rock Racer RTR...
I went ahead upgraded the Wendigo with your HH 4100kv R-540-L motor and Castle Mamba X this thing is great ...down side after about 20 minutes or so I broke the drive shaft to the transfer case .... I used a 15 tooth pinion gear on 3s almost can do a standing flip I think I need to gear down .....motor temp was 121 degrees on both motor and esc.....what are you thoughts ....I question I have on the setting of the Castle Mamba X I set drag break at 100% and drag break ramp to very fast when I activate it flips over the ramp setting is this for hight speed so setting it to slow while this help? Thank John love my Homes Hobbies stuff...keep up the great work....

That being said am I the only one thinking there should be a " Truck night in America" RC style/scale park/build/event to get some locals and such together for one awesome time? If you loctite or glue it on it wont come loose😉 mine came loose and I just put gorilla glue in it and screwed it back together been holding for 20 packs
I like Redcat, but for that price, you’re much better off with a Losi Rock Rey. Much better quality, better tires, better suspension, better radio with AVC and more. Oh, and yes, the Rock Rey will baloon the tires right out of the box, even on 2s. Only downside of the RR is the steering servo, but you can get a decent cheap mg replacement on Amazon for about $14.
rock rey has different gearing and suspension layout. Can't turn a rock rey into a decent crawler, but it would be a better choice for "real" racing. The wendigo can make a decent crawler with a regear and different motor.
HolmesHobbies why not buy a decent crawler in the first place? There’s several from Redcat that are very good right out of the box. Add good quality tires to them and that’s pretty much all ya need. Love my original RS10 Rockslide. I adjusted the suspension, added some wheel weight and a set of Sedona tires and it out crawls almost all of my buddies high dollar crawlers. My Rock Rey is a totally different animal and I wouldn’t change that into a crawler. That was my point.
I wouldn’t say you were too hard on it. Watch the way some guys bash their xmaxx. It should hold up better in my opinion. I’m not really a basher, but I’d be disappointed if it broke like that on its first run.
I really liked this rig too. I think I was less nice to it.. I did manage to blow the gears out of the rear axle, And have been down for about a month waiting for the parts. With all the craziness going on in the world, this was totally understandable. But the gears finally came in, And I have them in hand today, Looking forward to another beating. I enjoyed your take on this rig..
The thing about the instructions, they lack fluid wt., the diagrams are like looking through binoculars, and it lacks specific measurements. I understand what is needed, just looking out for rookies. Though redcat is available for questions. I got issues resolved same day. I am not a paid spokesmen. Though I have my resume ready! Have fun and stay safe.
You said it's the 1st rock crawler you had that would balloon the tires. But it is not a rock Crawler, it is a rock racer. Completely different animal and category.

It's obvious it's been opened a few times.
The tape had already been popped. That was real speed, besides not having to cut tape.
I did open it once to make sure I was ready to run with proper sized battery etc...

with a 2S pack it'd probably be much easier to crawl with on the stock electronics. :)
