#DysonSphere #DarkFog #StayEffective
Please continue this series
Actually.. tye game is almost finished :(
What about using the actual new tier of buildings? Wasn't it the big thing about the dark fog?
Loving the modular upgradeable polar hub. Best blueprint set yet!
Love this series. Thanks for making it.
Love this series, look forward to each one. Keep up the great work!
At 13:38 Nilaus just moved his entire build in the background so he could place his ILS in the pixel perfect position instead of offsetting it by one square. 😂
I'd be interested in a video about the dark fog buildings, like the smelter and assembler... It was kinda glossed over in the last video.
Please continue sir.. or what I like to call you. NILAUS, The Consumer of Worlds!! All Hail!!
I've watched through your entire series and inspired me to buy and play this game. Please finish it
19 episodes in and I'm still hooked! Thanks again and keep it up!
Loving your DSP content!
I would like to see you explore (and exploit!) more the newly added combat system of the game. Compared to Factorio deathworld where biters are just a nuisance, enemies in DSP drop a lot of useful stuff. I wonder how effective would be dropping a "sorting base" on multiple planets, that exports all usable drops off-world. And then using mined resources just to supplement what isn't dropping (enough). Especially on your crazy aggressive settings they would level up a lot faster and trigger attacks a lot more. I think it could be an interesting challenge coming up with a design that sorts all drops quickly enough to not get any of the BABs backed up.
Great series!! Keep them coming!!
to proliferate imported ingredients, I place my requester on the far side of the bus. I then run a proliferator line the whole length of the bus, if my description isn't clear enough, I can screencap after work
Content is always appreciated.
So much interest! I would love to see you wipe out the Dark Fog completely in every solar system on that map!
That's simply rinse and repeat the grind...
Probably already know this, but you can turn off dyson sphere visuals in "Y" both in game and in editor to reduce lag. This works for me, at least. Don't know when this became an issue, but it wasn't like this before.
I had the same issues trying to change the belt output of the ILS
So nice
Any chance you can review the performance tab and explain ways to squeeze out bigger universe builds without melting a PC?
When are you going to do a video on the secret alien technology?
I love DSP so I'm going to say please continue
please continue the series, My gpu starts to bluescreen at this point in the game and my OCD needs to see someone good finish the entire cluster
all that good stuff.
You know you can use the recipie hotkeys < and > to set photon or generator usage on the ray receivers??
Wipe out the Fog. Clear them entirely.
I´d love to see the complete sqhere. 😊
When you get your new PC, one request is to build as much white science as it will allow before wrapping the series up.
Just what absurd hash rate can you achieve before it starts throwing in the towel?
People have done 1M white per minute on 0.1x resources, without dark fog though. And they are streamlining the process to aim for 4M per minute. Good interstellar designs (minimizing interstellar transport for example) is key on top of a monster PC
21:23 looking forward to it, can you share some specs?
Love your content Nilaus i am your big fan :] just a question who made for you the robot skin is it from devs ?
I get the fps problem too, quickly. Goes completely normal when I remove the dyson sphere and swarm rendering, in game. It sucks to lose the visuals.
There's an interest
In the endgame you need to optimise for game performance over everything else so it means fastest smelters and assemblers even though they eat up much more power?
There is interest
Go all the way till you erradicate the dark fog! Purple fog all the way
could you share the dyson sphere blueprint to copy paste it? the one I have isn't generating so much energy :C
I'm a little surprised that you didn't jump straight to yellow fuel rods. I thought they are so much more efficient. Maybe I missed something?
The photon factory is too gigantic for this stage of sphere construction. Perhaps it would be better to make several drawings with a gradual expansion of energy receivers and photon producers in quantity.
As always, thanks for the video.
p.s. The main interest: what the drawings will look like taking into account dark fog technologies. At the same time, we do not have faster conveyors.
We don’t have faster conveyor belts but we have stacking tech
@@doctort2853 If I remember correctly, Nilaus’s drawings have stages: 16 elements and a packer, then 7 elements and again a packer. For dark fog technologies there must be different calculations. After all, high-end content is different now.
@@Русич-т6п depending on the production speed but that sounds about right, or we can use 2 belts for going back into PLS/ILS if space allows
@@doctort2853 Yes, but, for example, assemblers or smelters from dark fog have x3 rates, so their number on the conveyor should already be different. This is, of course, if you calculate it accurately)
@@Русич-т6п yes, it will be, and different depending on what you are smelting/crafting. I mean the ratio sounds right, just slightly under 2:1 for 2 stackers for max efficiency

One Combat Montage Later....
That blueprint for photon generation was actually designed for 60 critical photons per second, taking into account the green lenses. That's one of the reasons it's so incredibly power-hungry.
Nilaus, I've followed you through all your factorio stuff, and a little bit of the Satisfactory stuff. I've owned, but not seriously played DSP for a while now until you started this playthrough. I've got a sloppy completion of green and purple science as I am in progress of tapping my 2nd system. I am watching every video. Please continue!
Nice, man. I can't wait to get a decent PC to play this on myself.
It's only about 864MW of power. Nothing too serious, the fun begins when that MW becomes a GW, then TW! TW are the way to really go!
I actually really like to get my photon generation on tidally locked planets. in my last game I found one with a >2 luminosity star. I turned one of the planets into an ecumenopolis to build the Dyson sphere as fast as I could and I covered most of the bright side of the tidally locked planet with photon generators and solar panels. the problem is that for a dark fog playthrough that would probably mean cleaning a lot of solar systems first to get resources before being able to advance with your tech.
Please continue. I'd like to see some gratitious dyson spheres
Watched all the episodes in like a week now I’m all caught up! Please continue! Really enjoying it!
Die energiemengen in dem spiel passen einfach nicht, 144MW für ein künstlichen stern? Das enspricht 10 offshore windwäder in der Nordsee.
Yeah it’s not exactly realistic lol.
LOL im on my third playthrough rn and I just got to white cubes/ 2nd dyson around 0 Star and im facing huge power problems. i was literally looking for threads on reddit about this morning and lo and behold, nilaus posts a video on exactly the issue im facing. real issue is that i dont want to burn deut rods because despite 30-40 oribital collectors and 2 frac loops, i still dont have enough deut for rocket production. my spheres are at 650 mw and 4 gw
With better PC we may even be able to get to 1PW dyson sphere power on this playthrough! ⚡
You should build few more dyson spheres to get the attention of the xenos
You better continue Nilaus!
Please post more!

I had about 1k hrs on Satisfactory as my first factory building type game. Love that game. Played about 20 hrs of DSP and then decided to try Factorio (CrackTorio) . I now have about 400 hrs in Factorio and haven't gone back to DSP even tho i feel like I should.. But... the factory must grow and I cant stop lol.
The game is far from over :) need to get those hidden techs, and take the fight to a level 30 base with insane late game tech levels.
Really looking forward to the updates this year. Devs are working on custom designable space stations. We probably can build our own Death Star in the game (maybe with rockets?) and take a proper fight against the dark fog.
@Nilaus We need a separate episode that goes over the new dark fog research and how to acquire them.
Oh yes, deffinitely continue! You could focus on the last tier of weapons and the secret research.
Love the series! You should upgrade your colonization base to use the artificial star, so it’s more compact
Splitters are really bad for FPS, but not using them is a pain
I love your DSP playthroughs don’t stop
definitely interested in a continuation of this series, I am enjoying it
love this series keep making it 👍
Thank you for a good video!
Please continue the series
Is there some sort of "main hive" somewhere in space that if you destroy this one the dark fog can no longer regenerate?
Unfortunately no, BUT, they really like (and probably think) that the neutron star and the black hole systems are their main hives. They are most active there, and will try every effort to retake those if you wipe them out there.
too bad, that would have been nice "end goal" or something. i don't get tired of watching it but playing i just do whatever i can untill my pc doesn't cooperate anymore and got me bored of it a bit
@@Redneck353 the game is still in early access so there might be an end goal in the future. But, you can set it yourself, like building a Dyson sphere around a blue giant, or research level 26 shield
yeah, hope they implement something like that in the future. First time around i was a bit naive and just wanted to drain all resources in the universe building spheres everywhere. At 3 fps and maybe 5-6 solar systems drained i realized it was impossible unless i get a monster of a computer and even there...
That time around just tried to beat the game without leaving my home planet and farming the fog, was fun while it lasted but now that's done and i dropped back the game on the shelve untill i have something i wanna try on it
@@Redneck353 if played properly you will have infinite resources in the sector, even with 0.1x resource multiplier. The cost of vein utilization tech scales linearly but the output scales exponentially so eventually it diverges.
At Current version, farming dark fog isn’t something worthwhile to do. They don’t drop much on low resource settings due to nerf, and at higher resource settings you don’t need those materials until very late game since you can produce most of them.
Let’s see how the game develops. The customizable space station to be released in the future sounds really cool
More please!
watching your videos make me realize how terrible i am at this game
Well, you're not playing it 16 hrs a day for a job. You can be casual and just have fun.
@@ThomasWood3DPrinting yeah i guess you are right
I am surprised you're sticking to just regular anti-matter, the next level DarkFog Energy stick is truly silly level of power.
Since they take 8x antimatter rods per to make, he probably needs a bigger sphere to be worthwhile. Agreed that the 10x power and 11x fuel chamber generation are silly levels. :)
The 24fps is a major concern. He’s never had that before - shows how much computing power this game now needs to do several spheres.
That's the thing it takes 8 antimatter(closer to 5 with proliferation fully accounted for) but gives power like it's 10 antimatter. Switching to the dark fog energy sticks REDUCES the amount of energy you need to draw from the sphere to power your base.
The number of critical photons per gigawatt hour of energy goes down when you upgrade the higher density sources. Also your polar hubs need 1 artificial star to run everything rather than 6. Saving on resources building artificial stars.
@@stephenturnbull5686 Your math is true but the previous comment is also true. Going for the yellow rod means the energy is more dense. A LOT of them will go on belts and buffers, each artificial star also takes up 10 rods before the next one can have any to use. It does take a bigger sphere than what Nilaus has right now to power bases using yellow rods, at least to transition smoothly
@@doctort2853 Ya, that's true, the Transition eats a lot of energy, especially if you use long belts and large extra storage. if you set your transport ships to launch at 10% for ILS's that get or receive yellow rods and keep the storage caps correspondingly small it minimizes that transitional period. At the end of the day if you draw energy from a DS, and turn it into antimatter, then throw the antimatter into a Artificial star, you are getting slightly more than half the usable energy then you get from converting those same antimatter into yellow rods and burning them.
While transitioning to yellow is costly while you do it, the moment you are using yellow power it's mathematically similar to your DS being twice as large (or the portion of your DS power that you are using to make critical photons is twice as large) from the point of view of final consumption.
@@stephenturnbull5686 that is true, but even a couple of hundreds of yellow rods is a lot when just starting the transition process. Maybe I was too rush to get yellow rods as well as those end game dark fog production facilities, I was hanging OK while expanding to those power hungry machines, but the last straw that broke the system was switching to yellow rods. Only one of the mining outpost got power right (in excess too) now, and I had to consume even more power to start building another Dyson sphere on a blue giant to catch up on black rods production. I guess rule of thumb is to get plenty of black rod production before switching to ensure safety.
Clean every planet from the dark fog and be the first youtuber to have a peaceful max dificulty dsp
Hey, it seems to me that construction causes a LOT more lag in recent patches than in the past. Unsure if it’s to do with the roboports, or something else. From my testing removing them helped marginally, been focusing on UPS friendly builds but no matter what I always run into issues before lategame.
