    Eventually, with enough upgrades, your ground fleet can wipe planetary bases with ease, but this method is decent until then. I prefer using ground fleets as early as possible, feels more like a battle and I hate having to crawl around the planet with signal towers.

    • @Rms2015
      @Rms2015 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Ground fleets are great, but I’ve found that once you have antimatter capsules, they’re mostly good for distracting the small units while you personally annihilate them by ranks. With a couple energy damage upgrades, an antimatter charge will wipe a whole section of base structures in one or two hits and the effect on massed ground units is very satisfying. That said, Nilaus’ method has some distinct benefits: once the landfall base is activated, you don’t actually need to go to each base and can let the BABs set up the attack chains. There may also be a limit to the the level of darkfog you can conveniently take out alone, an issue the landfall base doesn’t share, since its damage scales really well. I’m also very excited to see how this all changes when the updated combat stuff is released: they’ve said they’ll add space stations, so it seems reasonable, especially in combination with the unused slot in Icarus’ ammo UI, that they’ll be adding player-controlled orbital bombardment, or maybe just artillery. Either way, that should change up the strategy for clearing planets

    30:00 - U need just 8 shields to protect a planet from Relay Stations - 1 for each polus (but in the middle, so I think it will be 4 in your case) and on the 6 on the equator (each 60 degrees)

    Hey did you know that you can use the fleet to destroy the relays in orbit and if you wait long enough all the bases run out of power? Yes the space hives attack, but 9 destroyers can handle any hive wave and you don't have to worry about the ground units if you don't have any buildings.
    The bases without power don't build new ground units and they don't shoot. You can take them out with personal weapons and precision drones.
    PS you can't leave the planet without your fleet or turrets set to high air or else new relays come in.
    PPS I shouldn't have commented before finishing your whole video. Just learned about it after your last ground battle.

    I had an enemy base I was farming just run out of power completely, not sure why. I had built all around it to farm yellow strange matter. I have a fair few planets still pulling and using the yellow fuel rods, so I would suggest at least setting up one farm, as opposed to clearing every planet. And if you plan on eventually upgrading to alien facilities, you’ll need to farm a smidge of alien loot too. I now have to find and setup a new one and rank it back up to 30.

    Would it be possible to have a blueprint that wraps the entire planet with BABs and Signal Towers, each building the next in sequence, so you don't have to manually chase down every hive? Theoretically it should radiate out from your central location so it wouldn't be at much risk of buildings things only for them to instantly be destroyed.

    • @merendell
      @merendell 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes you could. Only problem i see is you could end up agroing several bases at once and pulling more than your missiles can destroy.

    I wonder if it would be possible to first build a planetary fortress style "enclosure" with a lot of missile turrets, power generators and a single ILS... And then pop a blueprint that would have a combination those self building things (forward analysis base?) and signal towers and something to delay the building like solar panels etc. And then just self build over the entire planet and watch new bases come into range of the freshly built signal towers and get annihilated by the missile fire coming from the fortress... I wonder if that would work or if the fog will just destroy the self-placing buildings and stop the process.

    We went from "don't attack the relay" to "attacking relay reveals easy mode". This seems to be a broken game mechanic. Not sure how devs fix without indestructible relays. We do not even need space update as space hives are inert once the relays are all removed. Note you can do this early game on starting system or even starting planet. You just need enough turrets and missiles can deal with the small space hive fleet dispatched (5/hive so max 15). In case of other systems, there is not even a base for the space hive to attack; you just fly to each planet and allow corvettes to remove the relays.

    Its a fast way, but by far not the fastest by any means. The fastest is to roll up on every base with a full load of drones and purple plasma ammo and just blast the entire base. Yes it will cost alot of drones, but 1 planet takes 3-5 minutes to clear off 20 bases.

    Hi Nilaus, this is extremely minute but can you please refer to your bipolar hub as the dipolar hub? Bipolar refers to the mental illness and dipolar refers to something with 2 poles. Thank you

    • @salempeterson300
      @salempeterson300 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are thinking of Bipolar Disorder, bipolar just means "having or relating to two poles." A dipole refers to two equal and opposite charges separated by a distance

      @wynautvideos4263 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@salempeterson300 hmm now that I think about it i think you're right

    • @OrnluWolfjarl
      @OrnluWolfjarl 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Bipolar refers to both. Bipolar means having 2 poles (and pole means a point or axis around which other things are turning). The name of Bipolar Disorder refers to the patient behaving like 2 different people, or having 2 different poles around which their emotions/reactions are based. Or going back and forth between 2 extremes
      A dipole is 2 oppositely charged points creating an electric or magnetic field.
      It sounds confusing, because "bipolar" is a Latin loan word and "dipole" is a Greek loan word. The words mean the exact same things in their respective language (e.g. In Greek "dipole" is used to refer to both "bipole" and "dipole" interchangeably). In English, they mean different things, because English is a mess when it comes to loan words.

    You can use this tactic in mid-game, too (as soon as you have corvettes) - just leave the planet as soon as the relays are destroyed. The punishment fleet would just hover over empty planet for several minutes and return. In the meantime you could clear relays of other planets in the system.

    part 2 something similar to your existing science world blueprint.. the Big difference being that no need to spend 40 mins-1hour walking round to build as the battle lab drones will take care of business??? well i hope you do the work so i can lift it ;) thanks for all the fun..

      Power is always a hassle midgame. Solar panels at the poles or as a ring around the equator are an option. You can also burn coal/graphite in your generators in case you didn't know. Deuterium fuel rods are used by most until they start on their sphere, but that's probably not an option if you're out of hydrogen
