I have Verna 1.6 for the past 3 years through out these 3 years i feel service for verna is better than city. Recently i bought Honda city as my friends pushed me to buy the city after 6 months of usage i felt Verna is much better especially in diesel . OMG !! its so noisy on city i couldn't drive in city bcoz of its irritating noise from the diesel engine but in highways its ok bcoz of the high speed the noise is not much trouble./ also the power is not better as Verna . City engine is not punchy . more over i went to honda showroom to do something with its terrible noise they say it will get better once you reach 10k and they ask to me pay 6k but they call it as free service. When i bought verna and i took for its first service i just paid 3k for oil change and oil filter etc., same changes in my first service in city its 6k +taxes .. Anyone willing to buy any one from the this two if it is diesel sure i would say go for Verna for its stylish look, beautiful interiors and punchy engine . If you buy diesel city no doubt you will feel that you are inside 2 years old indica cab even after paying 11lac rupees. Still if you want to buy a city please get it from me (mail or comment me) i will give it for 10.5lac which is 65k lesser than the tag price i bought. TN Reg 7000kms driven.
I can't understand why reviewers are going gaga over the 1 GB internal memory on Hyundai cars (Grand i10, Elite i20 and 4S Verna). It's barely enough space for two MP3 CDs worth of songs, and you can get a 16 GB memory card for as little as 300 Rupees. So you're making 20 Rupees worth of memory sound like a real feature. I also wish you two mentioned that the City has rear aircon vents, which the Verna doesn't.

First i don't under stand your logics here (i feel its stupid) u get 16gb memory card for rs 300-400 but for same when you buy a phone (8gb varient and 16gb varient) you have to pay 1000rs more. Why that difference then. Now about the car - 1gb internal memory, lets see how many song we can have , take 1 song to be 10mb , so minimum we can have 100 songs. 100 SONGS FOR WHICH YOU WON'T BE NEEDING A PENDRIVE OR CD OR FM. I think thats enough for keeping all your favourite songs in that storage. Its a plus point when you forget your pendrive or radio doesn't play good songs. Tell me who else offer it. Its not a biggest or very amazing feature but i think it counts
i bought a top model sxo verna with navigation system, rain sensing wipers, projector headlamps, nvh levels are way lower than honda diesel. top speed is 190 kmph and average at 120 kmph as shown on its display is 22 kmph which i think is not bad. Suspension has been improved. Car is comfortable. In fact it is a drivers car. BHP & torque are same as creta. Honda city diesel is good in terms of space but the car feels a bit small from the inside. You cant beat the vernas pickup. The car is good overall. Value for money. You just cant guess whether you are in a diesel or petrol with verna whereas its vice versa with honda city. Steering is super light and car has good control on highways. My monthly running is 3000 - 4000 kms.
Verna is the king I owe here in Gulf in the name of accent. 75% of the road covers this accent which is unbelievable. It has earned it's name and now on Indian roads it will relish.

That said, the Verna's manual is not too bad either as the clutch is really light. Do keep in mind however that the automatic's fuel efficiency much lower than the manual variant! Also remember, the automatic commands a premium of almost 1lac.
I get that Indian customers mostly tend to look for diesel engines. But review the petrol version as well sometimes. It has less noise, more acceleration and costs less. It would be good if you reviewed the petrol version of the cars as well.

The Verna is called Accent in US. The front is slightly different though. A very popular car here. But Elantra is most popular Hyundai.
