I’ve driven both Verna Diesel and City Petrol and the sheer enjoyment of driving City petrol cant be explained. You wont hear anything in the cabin below 3-4k RPM. But if you want to get naughty, try revving the city. Sounds like a sports car and goes like one.
I recently drove both the petrol variants and must tell you the engine and gearbox of the city is a gem. Also the interiors were more welcome in the city. However, it loses all its premiumness once it falls in a ditch! The feather touch ac controls are not really handy while driving. The verna is more fancy, and poses a serious competition to the city. It was difficult to chose between the two. However, I ended up chosing the bold, as I really wanted that engine.
I recently took a test drive of Honda city and Verna!! I was so much for city but post my drive i was just amazed by the comfort level, the feel of a luxury car, the Latest useful functions provided by Verna..
Are bhai...who said verna's steering is more confidence inspiring than city's. It doesn't come even near to city. Only thing verna excels is the performance and refinement in diesel engine and the quality of interiors. Petrol is always the trait of the honda city. Steering feedback and control is far better than verna.
Too many Honda City petrol fans in the comments box but I have used Honda petrol and now using Verna petrol and I am very much satisfied mainly because of in gear acceleration were Verna beats City and most of the time we won't drive at high RPM
Honda wins in terms of interior quality, engine smoothness and spacious back seats while Verna has cramped back seats and poor interior materials. And Verna wins in terms of styling, projector lamps. If I were to buy cars in these segments then the preference would be City>Vento>Rapid>Verna>Linea>Ciaz

We need to check the ncap crash ratings since the roads in India are becoming very unsafe as days goes by. When you consider build quality still Vento holds on as a winner. If you can sit on it, you will get to know. Honda has been compromising on the build quality for long just to give us the best efficiency figures. The nvh levels are way off the charts. Verna, is an all new car. It looks bigger, and shares its design cues from the Elantra. Need to take a test drive and see how it is. Autoportal, I would request you to kindly compare the VW vento with the Verna as well. Thanks

I just purchased the Hyundai Verna 1.6 VTVT Petrol, and must truly say that the petrol engine except the fuel efficiency is a monster ....It gives that revving feel which you want from a car
Hey, nice review! Been watching most of your recent videos, good improvement is happening. But please do talk about the safety features of the car, I see you mostly not touching that area. It is the job of auto journalists like you to make people aware of the importance and need for the safety features. And us Indians are way back in keeping or following these safety standards, if auto channels like yours always bring it up it will dig in the minds of common car enthusiasts and they would always keep in mind when checking the specs of a car, slowly the car companies will understand the India consumers are skeptical about it and they may make it a standard in every range of vehicles If someone is gonna buy a car anyway they gonna spend some lakhs of Rupees, so why don't stretch it a 30 to 50k more and get in those good safety features. So please emphasise that point in all your reviews.
Well, overall these two are really good at their level. But, if I had these two choices, I would go with City as it's a bit more value for money and Honda customers have a better after-sales experience .Yes! It's parts are also not too hard on the wallet compared to the Hyundai!

Honda city is more worth buying in terms of comfort, looks, better visibility,more head room & rear space ,all electronic buttons, sharper alloy wheels design, & finally its classy as compared to verna with also a sub brand in itself
Surprised that no reviews mention that Verna has Android Auto / Apple car play which in itself is a HUGE plus point in the infotainment area. Built in navigations in most cars are utterly useless, but with Android Auto, you get Google maps navigation which even gives you live traffic info. Then you have whatsapp integration, Google play music / Spotify and so on.
I have city idtec vx used for one & half year driven about 30000 km & mileage is 20 km / Ltr on highway you tube comment section doesn't support photo else I will upload photo , one negative is cabin noise in diesel otherwise no problem as of now, my take is Self driven diesel : verna Chauffeur driven petrol : city If you have tight budget around 11.5 lakh & will not go in any case further ciaz is best option city & verna top end version gives all features will cost not less than 14 lakh with best discount in any city of India I think - Rahul

After watching many reviews in 2015 we bought Diesel Honda City...but no one then & even now reviewed headlights... Honda City is partially blind at nights... Now only in topend they provide LED.. On highways it's very hard to drive above 90kmph as the cattle/parked vehicles are not visible.. I'll say Tata Vista headlights were far better than Honda City's headlights. Please do review night time visibility of the cars..

Ashish, how do the 2 compare in terms of safety features? Especially with the Verna being made up of 50% advanced high strength steel. Would that be enough in ur opinion to tilt the scales in favour of the Verna? Also am not aware if the city comes with side airbags like the Verna. Vento might be a better choice, but buying a car is not the end. We need better aftersales. that is where VW lags behind maruti, hyundai, and thirdly honda.

Verna is a solid product, go for it with confidence.
In petrol honda city is the best in 2nd gear it goes to 100kmph @6000rpm and the vtec technology is awsome the car just flies when the vtec kicks in
