Thank you! I followed the video step by step as I was changing the battery on my 2014 GLK350 and popped it out and popped the new one right back in! Started right up! Never knew I could change a battery and your video made it so easy!
Watched this video and then replaced my battery following the exact steps, without providing a secondary means of power, as mentioned in some of the comments. All of my computer settings were saved (seat profiles, radio stations, garage door programming, etc.) other than the clock, which had to be reset. No issue with the fuel injection memory either (if that's even a thing for Mercedes). I believe these models have an auxillary battery that helps maintain computer memory/control in the event that the primary battery is lost; this may be why most settings seemed to be saved. Anyway, just thought I'd let others know that you don't need to worry about maintaining power when replacing the primary battery.
thank you because this is the BS reason given for places like Walmart, advance auto, and auto zone not touching these cars even for a battery swap! its BS!!!
Replaced battery on a 2011 MB GLK 350, I watched this video and it was very helpful, the only thing that concerned me was by disconnecting the battery that all of the items in the vehicle, like the radio possibly losing the code to reset and the power sunroof and it mentioned some other things that you had to do after replacing battery. So what I did before taking off the cables, I connected a jump box (Stanley 700 amp) to the cables going to the vehicle and had juice going to it the whole time the battery was being changed out. After connecting everything back I had radio and everything was working perfect. My 2 cents
Hi, I heard you’ve got to have a memory savers in order to be able to replace the battery. Do you think that it’s necessary true? I’m trying to replace my wife’s Mercedes Benz battery, but I’m a little scared.
This video is so quick and easy to follow! I just finished changing the battery with my father and because of the video, I knew to ask for the red piece!
Thank you so much! Battery dead at the most unfortunate time, my father and I helpless... And thanks to you, we made the change just in time for our big plans, no assistance necessary! THANK YOU
Very helpful video. Thanks! Mercedes actually made this pretty easy. And just fyi . . the new batteries usually do include that little red plug. It is molded to the "Positive" terminal cover.
Thank you. I had no idea how to even get to the battery. You saved me the cost of a tow - I was able to get to the battery and get a boost. I very much appreciated that you took time to make and post this video.
The new battery _does_ come with the vent tube plug. You punch it out of the positive red cap. Look at 3:01 and you'll see it. Also, the little yellow "Read the instructions" would have shown you how if you read that. Thanks for the video.
Tried it this week on a 2015 GLK 350. My battery positive terminal has several attached electronic boxes unlike other years. I carefully removed the positive cables with said boxes and replaced the battery. I did not use a jumper to maintain radio or other computer settings. Once installed, all systems and settings were functioning as normal. The additional electronic attachments to the positive cable, may have been a built in jumper. Thus, why all the settings were saved.
Very helpful and many thanks. My daughter's GLK 350 battery just died 3 months out of warranty. Getting the Duralast Platinum Battery Part Number: H7-AGM Warranty: 3 years
Nice & simple! ❤ Just remember the 2010 GLK350 does not require the auxiliary battery that’s under the rear cargo area since it does not have the Stop/Restart Emission feature.
Nice video, this will really help me. Do the Command system ask for a code after battery replacement? Because I heard that it gets locked after unplugging the battery and as I don't have any code, I'm a bit worried about this.
the camera work was so shaky, it made me a bit ill, but the content was spot on. only additional thing we did was connect the jump points to another car before disconnecting so we wouldn't lose any computer settings. As others have mentioned, the plug is included now, but it was helpful to know that plugging the hole is one of the required steps. thanks!
Hey @autorex thank you for the video, would you happen to know the part number for the battery hold down plate? mine seems to have walked off or forgotten about when last battery was replaced...much obliged..
Good video, do you think a weak battery could cause the car not wanting to shift into a gear? I have to shut the car off and restart sometimes to get it to shift. Thanks for the video, going to do this.
Great video, but importantly forgot to show the action of plugging a 9volt battery into the cigarette lighter before removing the battery so that the computer and all presets are preserved.
i thought you were suppose to change the battery while the car was running on mercedes or else you'll have to deal with the electronic settings later of the computer? also can you use interstate batteries?
There is a small OBD scanner tool in the market made by Innova which has the battery replacement feature. There are also other cheaper tools for the OBD port made for battery replacement.
Nice Video. Don't you need to connect to external DC battery to avoid losing your radio code. Otherwise you have to call the dealer with your VIN number to get the code.
I own a 2012 ML350. I usually go on vacation once a year for a month. I would like to know some ideas on how to hook up the battery tender to the battery since it’s inside below the passenger seat? I have the deltran 12v battery charger/maintainer bought from Costco but then how do I keep the tender hooked up to the power source? Don’t I have to keep the door open? I would have liked something like a harness through the hood (just like I’m a motorcycle) so it could be hooked to the tender. What’s the point in purchasing the OE ctek trickle charger paying so much? What’s the best way to keep the battery maintain the charge when you are away?
Check if there is a red plastic cover somewhere under the hood. That will be the positive. The negative is a bolt on the frame near the positive. No need to access the actual battery. At least that's how it is with the GLK 350. That's how it is charged, measured or maintained.
The dealer try to charge me almost $1000 ( they said they need to run diagnostic and a lot of bs ..) . I went to a battery depot, bought a new one for $145... A mechanic asked me $20 to replace it....
Hello. I have a GL550, I tried pairing the the inferred head sets.. now my stereo, dvd and navi is going nuts.. do you know how to make the stop..its driving me nuts now... 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
All mechanic I asked for help (2014 glk350) refused me because the should reset the computer. What means that? The MB_dealer asked me for $1000, so I bought a MB battery and now I will do it myself. Not sure about computer stuff....
Wow, no disco music?
I am impressed. A+ for a perfect instructional video with another A+ for no music or other junk.
Thanks!

I just did it too on a 2011 GLK 350 and can confirm the same.

Thanks for the easy tutorial. Saved myself a couple of hundred bucks just doing it myself compared to taking it to the dealer
This is how all "Do it yourself" videos should look like. Great job buddy !!!
Sir...you saved my life this weekend! Changed the ORIGINAL 2011 battery today!
simple, easy to understand video, appreciated.
saving this video for later
This video is so quick and easy to follow! I just finished changing the battery with my father and because of the video, I knew to ask for the red piece!
Dude... you're pretty good at teaching!
Thank you so much! Battery dead at the most unfortunate time, my father and I helpless... And thanks to you, we made the change just in time for our big plans, no assistance necessary! THANK YOU
Clear and to the point! Excellent video and super helpful!!
I very much appreciated that you took time to make and post this video.
there are separate boost/charge points close to the battery
Great video - thorough and easy to follow - the camera work was spot on and well done.

Perfectly done video!
Great instructions! Thanks a lot.

Thank you so much! This video was extremely helpful. I followed your directions and everything turned out absolutely PERFECT!!!
Did you have issues afterwards?
Very clear demonstration. It's very much appreciated!
Very helpful and many thanks. My daughter's GLK 350 battery just died 3 months out of warranty.
Getting the Duralast Platinum Battery
Part Number: H7-AGM
Warranty: 3 years
Saved hundreds of bucks… Thanks
Thank you so much! Auto zone was trying to tell me it was under the passenger seat!
the last time I changed my own battery was for my 89 supercharged mr2 long ago. things are way different here. thanks for the detailed guide!
Could you link the tools & the very battery pictured here? I don’t have ratchets yet! Were both bolts 10mm?
Nice & simple! ❤ Just remember the 2010 GLK350 does not require the auxiliary battery that’s under the rear cargo area since it does not have the Stop/Restart Emission feature.
Thought the procedures might be different to replace the battery on Mercedes Benz, but it turned out the same lol. Thanks bro.
Comprehensive Step by step process well illustrated and well done. Good job. Thanks.
Love your videos! Do you have to do any reprogramming after install?
Nice video, this will really help me. Do the Command system ask for a code after battery replacement? Because I heard that it gets locked after unplugging the battery and as I don't have any code, I'm a bit worried about this.

great video with lots of details. Recommend!
Thank you for the clear instruction and video
Can you also show how to replace Auxiliary battery in this model? Thank you.
Excellent, easy to follow and complete ...
Perfect video thanks
Does the new battery have to be coded into the ECU? I know for BMW you have to re-register a new battery
Aha literally same thing on my moms car, original battery. I just swapped today. Thanks for the video 🙏🏻
What is the brand and type of battery u used as a replacement?
Do you have to reprogram anything after replacing the battery?
Hey @autorex thank you for the video, would you happen to know the part number for the battery hold down plate? mine seems to have walked off or forgotten about when last battery was replaced...much obliged..
Thank you for sharing! Pretty useful.
Greasing with conductive grease is a good practice.
Hi, could you tell me if the 2012 GLK 350 model has an auxiliary battery and where it is located in the car? Thanks.
Thank ypu... what aftermarket battery do you recoomend? Is Died hard a good replacement? hmmm i see duralast being installed.
Thank you this video was so helpful 👍🏻
Good video, do you think a weak battery could cause the car not wanting to shift into a gear? I have to shut the car off and restart sometimes to get it to shift. Thanks for the video, going to do this.
Same! Good question.
@@Goddyssit sure did cause it on ours
Hey can you give me a tip how to reconnect the hydrogen breather tub because the hole is too small to fit back in.
great video this was a lifesaver
Great Job Partner... that was very helpful!!!
Thanks! Got quoted for 340$ for battery replacement, hopefully this can save me some.
Our 2015 glk 350 batt. is a lot different. It has what looks like control/ electronic wiring attached.
Great video, but importantly forgot to show the action of plugging a 9volt battery into the cigarette lighter before removing the battery so that the computer and all presets are preserved.
can you explain a little more about this? I'm about to change my battery and would live to preserve my settings.
i thought you were suppose to change the battery while the car was running on mercedes or else you'll have to deal with the electronic settings later of the computer? also can you use interstate batteries?
James C I replaced my battery and now the check engine light is on and the gear shifter is stuck
There is a small OBD scanner tool in the market made by Innova which has the battery replacement feature. There are also other cheaper tools for the OBD port made for battery replacement.
THANK YOU!
thanks. Useful for me
The new battery DOES come with a new plug. It’s part of the new battery positive cap cover.
What about radio cod bro
WHAT TOOLS DID YOU USE?
Nice Video. Don't you need to connect to external DC battery to avoid losing your radio code. Otherwise you have to call the dealer with your VIN number to get the code.
Nice job , Thanks !

Ple Eu yes I came to know that’s how it’s done. Thank you for the reply.
How much $ do you think you saved vs having a mechanic do it?
You made it look so easy. :)
Firestone wanted $350 for the battery and installation on my wifes glk 350 - so $150 to install the battery!!!
The dealer try to charge me almost $1000 ( they said they need to run diagnostic and a lot of bs ..) . I went to a battery depot, bought a new one for $145... A mechanic asked me $20 to replace it....
@@valconstantinescu8484 The dealer tried to charge me almost $1k too.
Where did you purchase your replacement battery?
What is the correct battery dimension?
80 Ah / 800A. An AGM battery is recommended for longevity, especially if your vehicle has start/stop functionality.
Thanks..thumbs up!
Thanks...
Hello. I have a GL550, I tried pairing the the inferred head sets.. now my stereo, dvd and navi is going nuts.. do you know how to make the stop..its driving me nuts now... 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
is it the same location for GLA-250?
very helpful
sehr gut
Where is the Auxiliary battery located on the GLK350 2013?
Wouldn't it spark anyways? Even if the battery isn't connected to a ground, if you physically ground it to the body it's gonna spark.....
Nice
do i need memory saver?
I thought the battery for the GL 550 was under the seat???
All mechanic I asked for help (2014 glk350) refused me because the should reset the computer. What means that? The MB_dealer asked me for $1000, so I bought a MB battery and now I will do it myself. Not sure about computer stuff....
I've always heard that a MB battery replacement was a dealer only item because of a reset that only a dealership can perform. Have I heard wrong?
That’s what I heard as well. I want to replace my wife’s battery and I’m a little bit scared. The dealers estimate is about $600. Damn !
2012 GL 350 battery is underneath passenger seat not under the hood. Should maybe fix that.
thanks for the video
you don"n need the code for the radio ?
This is only on GLK class. GL and ML class battery location is different. Located under passenger side front seat.
How about for 2011 GL550?
GL and ML class under passenger seat
Rosina Rapids
I couldn't see the brand name of both old and new battery 😮
Brand or atleast the specifications of the battery should have been included in the video.
This You Tube video is NOT for a 2015 GL-450 or GL550. In these cars, the battery is in back of the front seat.
not for my 2014 gl350 bleutech its under the passenger seat
for my GL it's under the passenger seat.
Battery in a 2015 MB Gl-350 is under the passenger seat.
My mom has the same car in the video but it's gray with crome accents
dude GL350 has a battery in different location. fix your description!
Anyone with a 2015 glk250 diesel
GL350 ? Try again...
@Autorex can you please respond . Thank you.
Definitely not in the same location in 2013-2014 GL450/550
Dealer just quoted me $482.00 to put in a new battery.
BS thats not where GL 450 has the battery
