  • Here is a good example of why you don't want to blindly take someone's mechanical advice on the internet. The GLK 350 battery and the GLK 250 battery are totally different and housed in totally different locations!

    Good evening Ken 👍. Terrific video sir. Thank you for always cutting through the clutter and your continued professionalism. The only Benz I have left is a 1998 E 430 210 series with only 43,000 miles & no rust. This car is taken care of better than most children. My S500 had an auxiliary battery & most owners don't realize how important it really is. Thank you, TMP from N.J.

    Hopefully Kent and his crew will see their way clear to produce more videos on the later models for those of us that find them to be well engineered transportation. Professional advice of Kents' caliber is hard to find and always interesting and informative.

    Great video Kent. Had I not been a subscriber to your channel, I too would have pulled the interior apart trying to find the auxiliary battery on my 2014 GLK250. I do most of the maintenance myself and have been very happy with its overall reliability. 175K miles and still going strong. Thank you again!

    Glad to see you’ve upgraded to the modern era Kent! And of course it’s a diesel! Classic Kent Bergsma! I just love it.
    As much as I adore the iconic W126, these are leaps and bounds more refined and have shown how far Mercedes’ has come since the 70s and 80s. I will say Mercedes’ chose one heck of a place to store these batteries. Why not just use a bigger amp hour battery I always said. Nonetheless well done and it’s nice to finally have some professional documentation as to where these little suckers are hidden. It’s really a beautiful truck I’d say. Thanks for all you do!

    Hi Kent! Thanks for the video. Glad to see you're working with the newer designs. I got a GLK 350 for the wife and she's very happy with it, but I'm still holding on to my '99 E300 Turbo-it's my baby.🤣

    Hi Kent, Thanks for another very informative video. People complain that batteries for MB are expensive but I can't complain, the original battery in my 2002 C240 lasted 18yrs, I couldn't believe my eyes when I removed it to fit the new battery, read the date code and saw the original MB decals on the old battery.

    wonderful … My 2015 light has come on and I did expect the battery to be in the back. I assume I’ll need to take my VIN # number in, so in using the correct video. I’m about 41-42 mpg and very happy with the car. I did get through the MB diesel gate and Mercedes stood behind it. I’m at about 110,000 now. Again thank you for your effort, I’m very grateful!

    I'm having issues with BLIS, start/stop and Distronic in my early facelift GLK 350 CDI. The auxiliary battery warning finally popped up, and I've just ordered a (3rd party) battery at my Mercedes dealer. Looking forward to picking it up later today, seeing what I get, and now I'll know where to look first based on that. Thank you!

    Wow that is annoying to get to.
    Kent, on the forums you forums you have seen, have you seen any explanation as to why this happens? On different Mercedes Facebook groups I am part of, people show this issue and it seems to be a fairly common issue. I wonder what the issue is?

    • @Mercedessource
      @Mercedessource  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fairly simple - batteries do not last forever - and if you let your battery completely drain when the car is no driven for long periods - you will really shorten the battery life. I highly recommend battery tenders for cars that do not get driven regularly.

    This has to be for the later GLKs with the start/stop feature. I have a 2011 GLK 350. It does not have the aux battery because it does not have the Start/stop. Its kind of strange to think of these cars as "ageing". But, the oldest of these is now 14 years old!

    So do you also need to use a dealer level scan tool to reflash a bunch of modules so everything works again.

    • @Mercedessource
      @Mercedessource  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No you do not. Once you replace the aux battery, hook up the main battery, start the engine and the computer resets itself. :-)

    • @JDLesemajeste
      @JDLesemajeste 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is only some cars and some parts. Definitely BMW needs the new battery initialized but things don't actually get reflashed. That is the way everything is going though, eventually a lot of car maintenance will only be able to be done by EEPROM, like Stellantis Jeep keys.

    • @johnwalters878

      I replace my main battery a couple of months ago, and after that the automatic lift gate stopped working. My indi shop could not reset it, but the dealer was able to.
