Good evening Ken 👍. Terrific video sir. Thank you for always cutting through the clutter and your continued professionalism. The only Benz I have left is a 1998 E 430 210 series with only 43,000 miles & no rust. This car is taken care of better than most children. My S500 had an auxiliary battery & most owners don't realize how important it really is. Thank you, TMP from N.J.
Thank you once again Kent!! $60 part and 5 minutes work following your great advice and thats about $400 saved, plus the knowledge! Please dont ever stop! Love my GLK Blutec !!
Hopefully Kent and his crew will see their way clear to produce more videos on the later models for those of us that find them to be well engineered transportation. Professional advice of Kents' caliber is hard to find and always interesting and informative.
Great video Kent. Had I not been a subscriber to your channel, I too would have pulled the interior apart trying to find the auxiliary battery on my 2014 GLK250. I do most of the maintenance myself and have been very happy with its overall reliability. 175K miles and still going strong. Thank you again!
wonderful … My 2015 light has come on and I did expect the battery to be in the back. I assume I’ll need to take my VIN # number in, so in using the correct video. I’m about 41-42 mpg and very happy with the car. I did get through the MB diesel gate and Mercedes stood behind it. I’m at about 110,000 now. Again thank you for your effort, I’m very grateful!
Hi Kent, Thanks for another very informative video. People complain that batteries for MB are expensive but I can't complain, the original battery in my 2002 C240 lasted 18yrs, I couldn't believe my eyes when I removed it to fit the new battery, read the date code and saw the original MB decals on the old battery.
Glad to see you’ve upgraded to the modern era Kent! And of course it’s a diesel! Classic Kent Bergsma! I just love it. As much as I adore the iconic W126, these are leaps and bounds more refined and have shown how far Mercedes’ has come since the 70s and 80s. I will say Mercedes’ chose one heck of a place to store these batteries. Why not just use a bigger amp hour battery I always said. Nonetheless well done and it’s nice to finally have some professional documentation as to where these little suckers are hidden. It’s really a beautiful truck I’d say. Thanks for all you do!
Hi Kent! Thanks for the video. Glad to see you're working with the newer designs. I got a GLK 350 for the wife and she's very happy with it, but I'm still holding on to my '99 E300 Turbo-it's my baby.🤣
Very instructive video! Many thanks! I own a 2014 GLK250 new. This will help me fixing the aux battery when it will be the time! BTW, this is the most reliable car I ever had!
I'm having issues with BLIS, start/stop and Distronic in my early facelift GLK 350 CDI. The auxiliary battery warning finally popped up, and I've just ordered a (3rd party) battery at my Mercedes dealer. Looking forward to picking it up later today, seeing what I get, and now I'll know where to look first based on that. Thank you!
This has to be for the later GLKs with the start/stop feature. I have a 2011 GLK 350. It does not have the aux battery because it does not have the Start/stop. Its kind of strange to think of these cars as "ageing". But, the oldest of these is now 14 years old!
@@Mercedessource Cool, yeah this video caught my attention. Thanks for your videos. My introduction to Benz was a gifted 84 W126. Your info helped me understand the K-jet injection.
Wow that is annoying to get to. Kent, on the forums you forums you have seen, have you seen any explanation as to why this happens? On different Mercedes Facebook groups I am part of, people show this issue and it seems to be a fairly common issue. I wonder what the issue is?
Fairly simple - batteries do not last forever - and if you let your battery completely drain when the car is no driven for long periods - you will really shorten the battery life. I highly recommend battery tenders for cars that do not get driven regularly.
That is only some cars and some parts. Definitely BMW needs the new battery initialized but things don't actually get reflashed. That is the way everything is going though, eventually a lot of car maintenance will only be able to be done by EEPROM, like Stellantis Jeep keys.
I replace my main battery a couple of months ago, and after that the automatic lift gate stopped working. My indi shop could not reset it, but the dealer was able to.
Thank you!! Loved the presentation style. Had a different issue but a low voltage warning came up on aux battery when doing obd scan. So much appreciate it.

It only took you 5 minutes? Wow, I’m gonna tackle it and planning on 3 hours.🤓

Thanks for the feedback. I knew someone could use this info. I must have watched at least three TH-cam videos that said it was in the trunk..:-)
Kent Thankyou very much for showing us this will save many people a great deal of stress.
Followed directions and replaced the battery for my 2015 GLK 250 within 15 min. Battery itself only costed about $50 from Amazon. Thanks so much, Ken!

One of my favorite channels on TH-cam and as usual good informations . Keep it up

Great to hear!
Thanks ken , you really helped me with my 250 glk ...many thanks from egypt
Thanks for the great info. I have exactly the year/model (and colour!) used in the video. This will save some future frustration.
What is the auxiliary battery for? How many years does it last before it has to be replaced?
Thank you very much! My husband referenced your video to replace the auxiliary battery on my GLK250.
Glad I could help
Good Lord... Thank you for the continuous education to the masses.
Professor Mr. Kent Bergsma we love you, greetings from Belgium

Thanks for this!! No idea my 250 even had an auxiliary battery
Thanks for the newer models content :)
Thank you for these videos. I’m just starting to get into Mercedes’ and they’re nice cars but they can be confusing to work on.
Ha ken your 250 only has 28,000! That's awesome. Can you tell me what the new battery cost? Thanks 👍
Very helpful! Thanks!

HI Geoff, You are correct. I forgot to mention in the video about the stop / start feature. Kent

So do you also need to use a dealer level scan tool to reflash a bunch of modules so everything works again.
No you do not. Once you replace the aux battery, hook up the main battery, start the engine and the computer resets itself. :-)

Thank you, You did a fantastic job.
Thank you thank you THANK YOU!!!
Good work
Very helpful video. Thank you
Thanks for the video. Dealer wants $350 to do it. I think I can get it. They keep threatening about having to do a “reset” ?
I have a GLK 350 2010 but I don't see the AUX battery under the trunk where is it
same issue here...

If you watched the entire video you will understand why I do not recommend forums. Get the factory service manuals and read
Good
I have a 2013 GLK 250, and need auxiliary battery. Where do I buy it and what is the part number? Thanks
Just google it. Lots of info and sources online.
Thank you!! Loved the presentation style. Had a different issue but a low voltage warning came up on aux battery when doing obd scan. So much appreciate it.
