- ive had my eye on Genokids for a long time now but got way too busy when the demo finally came out for it. It's a stylish action game inspired by Kingdom Hearts and Devil May Cry. The dev's have put out new teaser clips for the full release that look even better than this version of the demo. It was cool to see the bumper cars and character switching in this game so im excited to see what its like when the game fully comes out.

@@mcuthk But you *can* bypass a stun from an enemy by switching to another character. Resets the state they're in.

A game that combines Kh and DMC gameplay with Soul eater aesthetics, this is a dream to every edge lord from 2010
I'm digging the "flow" of the combat. Very snappy
The idea of character switching in an action game always interested me so finally getting to see what it would like is pretty cool. also cool how it's basically a single player mvc 3
I am excited for GenoKids. It has such a cool premise: 'A rock band's performance gets interrupted by an alien invasion, so they take revenge and set out to defeat the extraterrestrial invaders.' Post-apocalyptic action RPGs with purple tints have graced 2023 before with Eternights(except it has more emphasis on romance and simulation elements). After we got the sad grays and browns with some splash of colors that gave 2017's NieR Automata and 2024's Stellar Blade gorgeous graphics, we're back to the vibrant aura that gave the end of the world so many purples. The aliens in GenoKids are pink, magenta, and violet to contrast from our four protagonists(since they're named after specific colors, but what if the supporting cast have a tech-obsessed girl named Orange, or Blue's younger sister being nicknamed Cyan, or a group of twins named Black and White?).
Been supporting the game's team since late April 2023, and I hope GenoKids doesn't disappoint us.
Soulstice from 2022 places great importance on purple colorings as well, mainly in regards to the monsters known as Transcended. Most enemy types are normal (the Broken), have a blue color (ethereal Wraiths from another dimension) or have red crystals growing on them (Possessed) due to Wraiths trying to force themselves into mortal shapes, but the mortal shape still having a great enough will to not be destroyed under the Wraith's energy.
The color Purple thusly has important thematic ties: a fusion of the Ethereal and the Material in a form that works, however gruesome and grotesque. And that manifests within the creatures known as Transcended.
These are born from a creature known as a Chimera, where two souls are tied to a singular body. The owner of the body in question still has full control and does the fighting, while the other soul can be summoned to provide support and make the Wraiths and Possessed vulnerable for physical damage.
But a Chimera can only be born from an intense and strong bond, and tied together with a special purple crystal.
When this crystal gets corrupted or the Chimera loses control, they turn into the aforesaid Transcended, and this can take many shapes.
In the case of the two main ones that i can speak of without spoiling anything (important at least):
there's the twin brothers Jared and Jadon, who have manifested as the Colossus: a house-sized flying head split down the middle, that shoots energy beams from its eyes and mouths, and can burrow under the ground to cast geysers of laser beams from the floor. The only difference between the heads is that one side's mouth is normal and the other side's mouth has a manic, sharp-toothed grin.
Aside from Jared and Jadon, there's Armina and Demian, the Nemesis. They manifest as a six-winged angel, with purple eyes on the "elbows" of the wings, two smaller wings on the head, a long neck, yet again sharp teeth, and a blackened humanoid corpse-looking growth wrapping itself around the angel's body.
And they have some twists that i shan't spoil if you have become interested.
Love me Soulstice, throughout its ups and downs (fortunately with stronger ups) and in-betweens, and hope it shall get more known for the sake of the devs. They clearly have a lot of skill, talent and creativity.
Likewise for Genokids i hope a lot of people will find out about it and support it. Equally a lot of creativity, skill and talent involved and that shouldn't go unappreciated.

Best thing about this game, its definitely gonna release beautifully sometime because the game’s Kickstarter is successful.
This shit hits harder than crox on the ps1 . Also you should give this 3d metroidvania a try , it's called pseudoregalia and its really cheap.
This looks really fun. The way the "blistering swords" start out in a wing shape is a dope visual.
Parry timing seems quite generous, but I guess that doesn't have to be a bad thing. Probably lets them design more aggressive enemies since defense is more reliable
I would want nothing more than this to be brought onto Consoles my god.
Fucking love GenoKids
It would seem like games with bands in the lead role lend themselves well to over-the-top high style action combat. From 2D Brawlers/Beat-em-Ups like Charlie Murder, to 3D boss-centric romps like No Straight Roads, to Genokids here.
And Hi-Fi Rush too, but that's not about a band as such. Even though music is a VERY big part of its identity, the only character close to a musician is Chai. The other games consist of a five-man, two-man (and an alligator) and four-man band respectively.
(Small mention to God of Rock here).
Hope it reaches a good following. Together with Soulstice from 2022. Really love that one.

Discovering your channel now, since you like action games, if you have a rpcs3 you can try the Sengoku Basara games, "Samurai Heroes" is the only one translated to English but 4 Sumeragi has an english patch out there for the menus (I also have a spreadsheet with all story modes translated if it ever interests you) and is the superior option... Game's made by the team who made DMC (One of the character's movesets is basically Vergil) and it is incredibly fun despite the 0 popularity outside of Japan since Capcom failed to market it twice overseas
It's simpler compared to DMC but it has 40 characters and each one has their own style of gameplay so it's very fun, though it leans more to a Dynasty Warriors type of game it doesn't stop being a stylish action game... Just my personal bit of recommendation, really wish Capcom would port the game officially to PC one day
