I collect retro games up until 7th gen. When they launched the 8th gen I knew it was over and was going the same way as PC. So I quit consoles altogether and play exclusively on PC. I still buy and support indie titles and mainly buy my games on GOG. But I almost NEVER buy a game at release or full price anymore. When it isn't physical and proper ownership it doesen't really feel the same. And when it comes to AAA with all their BS lanchers, DRM and mandatory accounts and online connectivity for singleplayer games. Well I've sailed the high seas since 2016.

@The-GameBurrow looking in hindsight, it does start to make sense why Microsoft decided to make physical Xbox One games locked to one user and requiring new users to buy a license despite having the disc in hand. Thankfully, they backtracked on this, but now, with where the market is, it won't be long before parents are going to have to get used to getting game codes in a box instead of actually discs.

I really wonder if they would actually do that, not put a disc drive on the new consoles. Because then what is the point of a console? That is the only reason they exist really. I don't think they would do that but if they will then this gen is the last one I'm owning. Digital Games are if not on sale always full price, not being able to buy used games.. I might as well just play on my PC then.
@@yoivv my thoughts exactly.
I don’t know that physical media in gaming will ever be completely phased out but it’s just the thought of it become extremely inconvenient that worries me.
a reliance on limited run, having to purchase disc drives separately etc.
I saw you having a low sub count. You got one more from me. We small creators need to work together afterall =)
@@XDavPrimeENG Absolutely right brother, I appreciate the love.
I dropped you a sub & followed your twitch also! 👊🏾
@@The-GameBurrow Tysm mate. Welcome to the Prime Gaming fam ❤️
You should get some classic 360 games they have gone up a bit since the online store closed but still pretty cheap
I have a few 360 titles i keep in a separate pile, half would’ve been from my brothers old collection
but i’ve still got a few i need to pick up like the force unleashed, dragon age etc
the 360 is probably my favourite console just in terms of memories
Yeah limited run does unfortunately skip most Xbox games
Great video but your right game collecting is to much of a hassle because if you don't play these games your mind starts to guilt trip for not playing these games and make you feel bad for wasting money on it well that's what i think at least also getting a steam deck is 💯 great idea and you should get the OLED model it has a bit more power
I just sail the seas

I am sure there are going to be people here saying "You dont ever own a game, bla bla..." which is not true! On PS and Switch you have the game no matter what, even in 30 years when the console is offline! My PS4 and 5 are offline for years and all my 400 games work no issue! Besides XBOX requires online to just set the console up, so its DOA basically when it comes to preservation! PS does not require this nor does the Switch!
thats why i left xbox, the sad thing is sony is doing what microsoft does by requiring online during set up with the slims but not the fats
@@JaneTheDoe-id2vx Yeah that is why I am holding on my fat! I just hope they bring an update that gets rid of that like they did with the PS4 and the CBOMB issues.
4K collecting also has MAJOR problems. I would look into it before starting. If I were you.
@@Cheetowitcheese thanks for the heads up. where’s a good place to go for info on the 4k blu ray front?
@ I have no idea. I just search up whatever issues I have with my own collection. I would just start with whatever 4K Blu-Ray player is the best option or what movies have the best 4K transfer’s. You can find information here on TH-cam.
playstation. Physically died with the ps3 kinda. ps4 still has moments. but ps5. none. you don't even know for sure if there is something on your disc. with ps4 this rumor was already floating around and somewhat true. For save collecting. Switch is the most save bet. And also save to sell.....but since the mig switch is floating around. Not so sure about that either. I know my collection is mig switch save since they're practically new games.
The dry humor and Peppa Pig grab got me good dude!
😂 i’m glad it tickled someone
doesn’t make sense to try to cling to a medium that is innately digital. better to collect artwork, books, comics, manga, figures, vinyl, etc. that are actually tangible physical objects and not lines of code.
Good video! Youve got yourself a new sub
thank you so much for subscribing, i’ll do my best to keep making quality content! 👊🏾
I know we go on about game collecting but recently part of me is saying go all digital it’s convenient takes up less room but another part of me is saying no stay physical. Don’t get me wrong I like collecting games but the amount of room it takes up is shocking and with the amount of deals there are on the PS store it’s not like it’s expensive now. It will be expensive if you buy all the new games at release then yeah it will be but if you wait for sales then is it really that more expensive?
You hit the right spot bro. Subbed and will be following ya on updates. Same game taste here and I was a student till then only now can I start collecting and Xbox is almost not a viable option anymore, even tho I don't like PS I'll collect only this last generation before new gen totally goes digital
@@JoJo-bs1in thank you for the sub! 👊🏾
& yeah i don’t think it’s truly sunken in for a lot of ppl just yet but think the ps6 & next xbox console will be a massive wake up call for physical game collectors.
Who the hells calling CEX Keck's 😂😂
I know its officially pronounced 'SEX' the same way gif is pronounced 'JIF' but that's uncharted waters for me
a point of no return you could say
@The-GameBurrow I've never heard anyone say anything other than 'See Ee ex' although I know it's technically 'SEX' but there's no one doing that surely 😂
Yet if it’s digital it’s not true ownership nor ever will it be. As far as any comment with disc being a license, it’s irrelevant and mostly untrue because if it’s not an online only game then the whole game is more than likely on the disc. Ie; if I own RDR2, CP2077, or Tekken 8 then I own them, as well as an ability to download the rest of the game anytime and without internet (I’ve done it myself literally yesterday because I was curious). If it’s digital you don’t “own” jack shii
Mate ngl that was a great video n it js convinced me to subscribe.
@@UsmanHassan-vy5lz thank you for the sub bro, I appreciate that a lot
In the last 9 years i buyed only 3 games and all digital on discount 😂
The guy in the video just wanna justify wasting money on another plastic crap 😂
@@DEORIA1703 not at all my friend! the transition from game collecting to blu-ray collecting stems from a an enjoyment of building my own media library
i don’t necessarily want to be subscribed to netflix, disney +, paramount, max, prime video etc for the rest of my life
i’d rather simply build up a collection of films i love that trump any streaming service for me personally. the last thing i want to do is waste money
i wonder how this guy will feel once he finds out he doesnt own his games on a microsoft console. the xbox needs online just to set it up first time otherwise the console is just a brick. at least the switch and original fat ps5's dont even need to be connected online
sad to see you go
@@arielaguilera96 i’ll still purchase games for my series x but i have no intention on buying another console from any generations beyond this point
after gen 9 im strictly PC

bro physical games arent going anywhere you can find cheap ps4,ps5 xbox one games new and used everywhere
@@cursedknot i’ll still continue to pick up 8th & 9th gen games physically on a case by case basis for sure.
I just feel like with xbox especially they’re not as fussed about physical moving forward. even their own ip like hellblade 2 didn’t see a physical release.
& if hi fi rush didn’t go multiplatform i doubt that would even have a physical release either.
@The-GameBurrow they dont use ultra hd bluray thats why they are lazy putting multiple discs
there's another way of "collecting" games 😉😉

Collect anything but Xbox one, aside from a very few titles you are wasting your money in my opinion and from experience.
Just buy games as much as you want.
