I'm from Scarborough, North Yorkshire, and I love this rendition of the song!
From Whitby, just down the road, been to Scarborough many times.
@@willp133a Did you manage to procure the ingredients? And what tidings of the young lad?
You have to monetize it
Do you guys still have this fair? If you don't, you really should
This rendition and Nox Arcana's are my favorites. Different from each other but both have an eerie quality to them that run chills up my spine. Leaves me very lonely. Simon & Garfunkel do nothing for this classic
Rachel sings this classic with absolute astounding beauty. Simon and Garfunkel would be proud
This is not a song.
This is poerty on highest level.
Music, lyric and voice in a perfect wave of harmony.
Thank You!
Such a beautiful voice , it made me think of my wife , gone almost a year now , I dedicate it in her memory
😢😢
😭😭😭😭
I am very sorry for your loss..i really woudnt know how to exist without mine.

My sincerest condolences.
I was utterly depressed in frozen Patagonia, Argentina , with aches of surgeries and you gave me Peace ; I was transported to ther times.... I so thank you. Gracias.
Now and again TH-cam throws up the most wonderful suggestions! I had never heard of this lady, what a wonderful voice! a new fan! I will be looking for a lot more of her music.
Your song is lifting my heart! This is the best rendition ever.
So calming and beautiful, Rachel! You have such a unique and delicate voice. 😊
Yond statement is truthful for both of thee!
You wont get a reply tho. Nor a heart. Thats how she work. She ignores her fans.
If this comment got a heart, its to save face for the previous comment. Thanks and have a noyce day

Awe thanks so much! Love your content, so cool to see you here :)
An angelic voice that is unrivaled in its clarity and the atmosphere it's able to create. It's always a delight to listen to your covers and works
Well said thank you Rachael for brightening up my rainy day in UK
Rachel is living proof that God through rare can give beauty and talent to one soul.
Wow. I NEVER ever thought anyone could sing Scarborough Fair as well as Simon and Garfunkel. I was wrong. This rendition is beyond beautiful. It resonates deep within my soul and literally took my breath away. Rachel, yours is my new favorite version of this song.
This angel's voice is balm for the soul.
I come from Poland. I'm over 40 years old, and once in my life a song made me cry. You sang it beautifully and I wish you all the success, because you definitely deserve it. I greet arthur🍀
Beautiful Rachel singing a beautiful & sweet & heavenly song "Scarborough Fair" made me sad!🌹❤️😐❤️🌹
This song is like a time machine taking me back to the Middle Ages, its that good.
I think you don't realize how much I cry everytime I listen to you.
Last year I was in a deep depression, and I was listening to "Youth" on repeat all day everyday. It helped me calm down my panic attacks, and trust me I had a lot everyday :(
Now I cry but of joy. My life has never been better, and everytime I listen to you it just reminds me of how much I'm happy and that I'm so glad I didn't do what I thought of doing while at my worst.
Anyway, thank you a lot. Your voice is a blessing. Please never stop.
I love Celtic folk music, this is gonna be great!
Best rendition of this Ive heard so far is Celia Pavey
It's not Celtic though.
@@Paul.Morgan Ooof, I was mistaken.
@@johnclinnick3969 Celtic languages are still spoken in the UK and the term 'Celtic' is still used to refer to those regions and cultures, albeit informally. It's maybe a bit like calling Scandinavians vikings.
@@saoirse7167 And in The Republic of Ireland, and Bretagne, France :).
This song is magic and her way of singing it is enchanting. I feel to be back in Middle Age England as I listen to it. What a beautiful spirit Rachel Hardy has.
Never a truer word said!
I look forward to it... Gonna be a breathtaker I'll bet... And to top it off, it's folk music, I can't stress how much this excites me
You took me back there, to the cold and windy shores of East Riding and North Yorkshire, to the moors, to Rievaulx abbey...gosh what a great location Rievaulx would make for a video clip with this song...thank you for the music, thank you for the trip down memory lane...
Finally I've found somebody who sings it lower than usual. Super cool!
I remember that my mom sang this sometimes when I lived with my parents. They had a piano at home, so my sister and she sometimes sang this while playing it. Listening to it brings back memories.
This woman is a testament to gods most amazing creation abilities…she is blessed with overwhelming beauty and the voice of an Angel!! Never heard of her before seeing this video!!! It was absolutely love ❤️ at first experience!!!! What a blessing she is!!!
worship her
She is beyond beautiful. Her voice is even better!!!!
Is there another legend here listening to this masterpiece?
Not to shift focus from her lovely singing voice, but how is someone this beautiful!? Her facial structure is perfect.
your eyes are an unexplored galaxy and your voice takes me there
This is a hauntingly beautiful rendition of a very old folk song.
A young nightingale praising a rose beauty in her innocent tone of delicate lips and hopeful eyes.. what an excellent way you sang it, your body language is truly gentle and is in relevant accordance with the demanding tone of the song.. I will play it for my students in the class tomorrow.. I wish peace prevail here and you people visit us and sing such beautiful songs for Pakistanis also, especially our youth who are fast running on the road of Eastern Reinassance centuries after Europe..
God bless you my soul sister. Thank you for your gift of music🙏🌹❤️🌈💕🌺🌻
Beautiful village music 🧚♂️
I just feel like sitting around a bonfire in the woods and listening to this magnificent piece of art. Listening to your music is literally my one and only place of Zen. Thank you Rachel.
A beautiful song of haunting song of remembered love of my youth. Well done young lady.
My Granddad used to farm there... A wee place, nearby Saxton... It was heaven and earth all wrapped into one...I'll never forget them holidays we used share there, especially in Scarborough itself... Hahaha...
cool this song is now my lullaby
Not gonna lie, I've always loved the lyrics of this song, but I never really dig the vibe as much as I did now. Congrats, this version is absolutely amazing and magical
Beautiful song by a beautiful woman.
Beautiful 😍 😘 😍 one of the best oldest song...
Pursue this passion to it's fullest and the bright flame you present to this world will burn all the brighter. You're doing wonderfully, this cover is beautiful.
Thank you miss Rachel 🤍
It is a beautiful tune written to be sung from a female perspective. It expresses the desires of the women of the period by referencing herbs and equating them to desirable qualities in a husband. The shirt would have been worn for special occasions such as a wedding. It is like saying today I hope he buys me a ring. Scarborough is a town in Yorkshire about 40 miles North East of York. Located on the coast, It was famous for its fishing fleet which is where the reference to saltwater comes from.
It's written for both female and male. There are different parts. First one sung by a man, second by a woman, third by a man fourth by a woman and so on. Both are singing about the other. A wonderful tune.
No, the things that are being asked for are impossible: a shirt with no seams or needlework? A patch of land between the sea and the beach? It's basically saying "You've got no chance chum!"
@@dupplinmuir113 Came here to say the same thing. Though both are theoretically possible: if the cloth is woven into a shirt form to begin with, and if the man builds an acre worth of piles (or stilts?) into the see and builds on it, like in Venice, Italy.
There are 2 parts to this song.
I can't remember where I've seen this but, apparently, the song has some additional parts to it where the singer asks the one going to the fair at his return if at least his/her true love attempted to accomplish those impossible tasks. If yes, then the singer would know if the love of his/her true love remains despite time and distance.
I don't know if those parts are really a thing, I've tried to found them without success, but I like to have them in mind when listening to the song. It suddenly makes a lot of sense. At least I like to think of Scarborough Fair that way.
Beautiful. So beautiful . Natural, wonderful talent developing….
The Lord who made her and gave her this voice is the one who is …..full of awe and wonder . He calls man His crowning achievement. He uses a voice like this to give a glimpse of His splendor
Soft, lovely, and beautiful.
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme? Sounds like me shopping for chicken pot pie night
Did Parsley save Rosemary in time?
Ahem... The Deluxe Band, Mr. Chicken 🤣👌😘✌️💜
Thanks. You made my day start with laughter. You rock!💯😂
I thought this was a Christmas song. It is but I don't know the words. I think she changed them. Maybe "Mandela effect". I don't know but..kinda freaked me out. For sure I'm not going to "Scarborough fair". Pretty girl and beautiful voice. But I ain't goin' to that damned fair!
Those where used at that time supposedly for a love conjure...
Magnificent! With love and respect from Ukraine.
So nice! This makes a Lion crying ...
I'm hopelessly bound to this mothersong, living on this melody for years now, since i heard it first in 80's, never boring, connected with it somehow, I don't know why. Just a kid with a crazy dream 😊.
Scarborough fair is one of my favorite medieval-style tunes. A great choice!
Enchanting 🥰
Other than the American pronunciation of Scar-burrah said Scar-burrow it is an idyllic angelic version indeed. Bellissimo, grazie tante grazie.
Not only is sound of the music beautiful, i could not even find a single flaw.
But the lyrics are spot fricking on.
This just moved me to tears
I’m so old I remember when this came out by Simon and Garfunkel. I didn’t like it back then but it’s beautiful really.
Rachel, you have a beautiful voice 'so unique it touched my Heart, john
Thank you so much for this moment !!!
Must admit most beautiful I have ever heard this song.
the voice was clam and soothing
Wow, beautiful.
haunting... setting me adrift with past memories swirling
on a moonlit lake
This gave me chills. Wow. Tonight I was really worried and anxious, this made me calm down a little bit. We should all feel blessed that you decided to share your gift with us. You have no idea how much your music helps when the days are dark. Thank you so very much.
And thank you for watching and allowing me to do this
Since my childhood, I dreamt of a Girl who can sing me Scarborough Fair *this much beautifully* every night before we sleep. ❤️
True beauty...
OmG. One of God’s masterpieces. I can’t stop staring 😍 I’m breathless Spellbound 😍
Ok boys, go ahead and watch, but do so knowing you are going to fall in love. And I will deny any responsibility for what happens after you do. And all I can say is thank God for the TH-cam algorithm. This is just gorgeous.
Glorious ❤️
That orchestration is so atmospheric! Shout out to Garrett Weyenberg!
Beautifull!!
Certainly one of the best renditions of this song I've heard... And I have heard a lot of versions of this classic.
It's like an angel's song. thank you very much!!!
Oh my goodness... first three notes and I'm already in love with this song.
Everyone says how gorgeous your voice is, but what I love even more is that your composition skills are phenomenal! There are so many moving parts in your music, and this song is GORGEOUS in that respect. Thank you for always sharing such good music!
Thank you so much! That means a lot to me.
It is indeed beautiful. But it is not like she has composed it. It's a cover. The earliest version I know is from Simon and Garfunkel th-cam.com/video/-Jj4s9I-53g/w-d-xo.html but it is an old (even medival??) traditional folk song. There is a nice music history video about it: th-cam.com/video/7hnxivv4kBA/w-d-xo.html
@@nebelparder9 Ah, yes. I should have been a little more precise. I did know that she did not write and compose this piece, but I was praising her arrangement. She arranged the Simon and Garfunkel piece to be a little more symphonic/orchestral, added a few more instruments and moving parts etc. I suppose I just thought the words "arranging skills" didn't sound quite right, so I sacrificed precision. You are correct though. Thank you for clarifying. That history video is super interesting too!
Beautiful,just beautiful!
Speechless.
Sounds like an angel singing...simply magic.
CAN'T WAIT THIS IS GOING TO BE AWESOME!!!!!!!
One of the finest and soothing piece of music ever. Thanks to Simon and Gurfankel. This song will never become obsolete. Love from India.
From the land formerly known as India. What do they call someone from Bharat,? A Bharattan? Bharatian? English?
This was one of my mother's favorite songs. Funny how time brings a new taste for things of the past once disregarded.
Beautiful and interesting to hear the different pronunciation of Scarborough. In England we pronounce the u sound in the middle, as though it's spelt scarburough. But still lovely and just an English accent verses American accent thing 😉 well sung xx gorgeous ❤️
Actually listening again it's the uh sound at the end that we pronounce rather than oh scar buh ruh
To be clear, are you saying the difference in Brit/American pronunciation is "scar buh ruh" vs. "scar buh roh"? Interesting, I'd have guessed you'd also drop the middle syllable, and say "scar bruh".
This is probably a perfect performance of "Scarborough Fair" Thank you, Rachel Hardy
In love with this rendition,
cant stop Falling asleep to this🙏🏼🫶🏼
Ive probably taken 3 naps to this, and fallen asleep twice at night to this so far😅😅😅
Probably 15 or so naps now
Lovely.
Dear Gods, I'm in Elf heaven 💚🧚♀️🌳
Oh man... I've had this song stuck in my head for MONTHS. So ready for this.
A melody to warm the day and the heart.
Wow best of voice
WOW!! BLOWN AWAY!!! Beautiful on all counts!!! The voice, the range, the pacing. Perfection!
Oh my goodness. It's stunning. Absolutely stunning. Everything about it is stunning.
What a very Beautiful Woman with a voice of an Angel
It coukd not be done more beautifully! Her voice and that flute take me there back in time where this song was sung for first time
I listen to this beautiful song performed by Simon & Garfunkel for many years. I truly enjoy yours here. Just so calm and beautiful, indeed. Thank you so much, Rachel.
This left me speechless. Very profound. Thank you.
you have an awesome name, looks Scandinavian, if ye er, what is the meaning of Aghemundr, this being one of the possible variations my surname originally had? asking for curiosity's sake, would like to know but you don't need to answer if ye er too busy
Rachel you have a voice like an angel. Love to hear your voice every time.🥰🥰🥰
sweet and warm voice🎤🎤👍👍💚💚💗💗🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺
Beautiful song and a beautiful voice
Delightful. Perfect tone and delivery. As an English man I applaud your song choice as well.
The pronouncing of Scarborough could have been better though let's be fair, Americans always seem to say it like borrow
Lyrics :)
Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine
Tell her to make me a cambric shirt (in the deep forest green)
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
(Tracing of sparrow on snow-crested ground)
Without no seams nor needle work
(Bedclothes the child of the mountain)
Then she'll be a true love of mine
(Sleeps unaware of the clarion call)
Tell her to find me an acre of land
(A sprinkling of leaves)
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
(Washes the grave with silvery tears)
Between the salt water and the sea strands
(And polishes a gun)
Then she'll be a true love of mine
Tell her to reap it with a sickle of leather
(Blazing in scarlet battalions)
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
(Generals order their soldiers to kill)
And gather it all in a bunch of heather
(A cause they've long ago forgotten)
Then she'll be a true love of mine
Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine
Gänsehaut...und Tränen
Did I die and found an angel? Oh wait, I'm still here... so, in this case, it can only be one thing: one of the most wonderful singers ever! Thanks for existing and bringing us this supreme quality work. ^_^ Love from Brazil!
One of my friends runs a medieval music band and Scarborough Fair is one of my favourites songs of their :3
She's so beautiful and has calming voice.
