Saw you use the edge tamers 4 or 5 years ago. Bought a set then and use them often, just as you are doing here. I seem to remember you were showing them on snow, no snow here in Florida, but i thought they would be great on grass, which they are. Thanks for the lead back then.
Great idea with the Edge Tamer Tim. I have an electronic angle indicator plus a front view camera of the bucket cutting edge and the addition of Edge Tamers should make it even slicker.
Tim you always have so much to do and going on. I enjoyed this one because of the attention to details with the tractor! Your the best, rewatched again!
I love my edge tamers, the loader arms on my 1025r naturally sit a little cock-eyed, so the edge tamers with a little down-force help them float level on sod.
Coffe, prayer, and a movie…. Always looking forward to Sundays. I’m thinking a winter freeze thaw and the trench fill should be right there. Edge tamers looked awesome and might be great for my rock drive cleanup on the cheap too.
Tim, You relocated the location of the LP tank. I like the new location . Those edge tamers work great. I wish I had them when I owned a Kubota 3030. Your front are is looking sharp.
good to see you guys are ok , over in southern indiana we had 3 days of rain, but will i have been using some of your recommendation's since i only have a 2305 john deere and kubota rtv900 for our little farm - 26 arces , but now have ordered the edge tamers with the 12'" extensions , but i have the otis vent plug, the heavy hitch hiller, also the tooth bar , you guys are down to earth and good people , you never said how well your sweet corn did - we had a good crop- we got some canned but then deer got into and destroyed - so next year a solar electric wire on top of woven wire
Love my Edge Tamers. After running branches through the chipper they're great for scooping up the chips for spreading without scooping up the soil underneath.
Edge tamers are the best sometimes I use them to help do a little leveling if I don’t feel like taking the backhoe off and using the box blade on a small project makes me looks like a better operator then I am
Honestly, we don’t even try. We just do the projects and whatever happens, happens. I thought the edge tamers would help. So, we tried them. Then, I decided to challenge myself to see if I could do as good without them.
I've started marking off low spots in my yard with orange paint so when it dries I can fill it in. It works for me. I usually put orange dots around the perimeter.
Hmm, that John Deere tractor seems to be able to haul around all those cheeseburgers, but suddenly your worried about Christie's little self being the straw that might break the camel's back. 😮 lol
I like the idea it would really help me, also need to add a "level" indicator to my bucket on the 35 hp tractor, Trying to "read" the bucket has not proven to be the most reliable method for optimum results, I have an indicator on my littlest tractor and it helps, may add some edge tamers, and I like the idea of aerating and seeding to finish👍 I don't have a power rake but do have a pulverizer that I utilize, that does a pretty decent job😉
I started with 2 3 inch and added a third trying not to disturb so many rocks in the drive when removing snow. I think R2 made a design change after I bought mine.
The Yankum rope makes a great tow rope. It is in fact called Purse rope/line. Used in Purse seining. But if you ever do have it part while towing watch yourself. We had one part towing a boat, that broke down, about 1-1/2 inch dia. Had a wooden beam 3x6 that it broke/went through, when it snapped back, from about 250feet.
Re: The pile from the tree stump: The joke I always tell my wife is "If a man says he'll do something, he'll do it. You don't have to remind him every 2-3 years about it."
This has been a great project to follow. Of course at the end of it a "One more thing" item hit me. As a retired firefighter, I wondered if you had municipal or well water to your home? The reason I ask is, if there isn't any fire hydrants close by, maybe you could ask your local fire dept. about doing a dry fire hydrant system to your pond. It would be an excellent resource for them to have in the off chance you were to have a fire on your property. It may also help as a discount for you property insurance.
I just had a sewer and water line laid out to my outbuilding. I know my trench will settle more during the winter and spring so I will wait until then to finish and seed the surface. I fully expect to have to bring soil back in for sunken spots. Unfortunately, I have a lot fewer tools to use!
Hey Tim, a video of how you found Dave would be great. I am in search of a reliable help around my property that has experience and knowledge of this type of work.
This is a task I hate doing. I don't have good visibility of the bucket in my L4760 and I usually make more mess than anything. Of course my bucket is a little bent in the middle from prying too hard on a stump so that doesn't help:)
Tim, have you ever seen the PTO powered "Harley Rakes" used behind a tractor? I think it would be great on a project like this to level the ground. I have envied the rake you have on Vinnie, but just seen a tractor powered one I think would be great.
I’ve noticed when I’m trying to level the bucket on my 1025 it’s just not easy to keep that bucket where you want it. You end up digging. But I don’t have to worry about it anymore.. I’ve sold my land 22 Acres. Guess I’ll be selling my little Johnny? It’s been great little tractor.
If you packed all of that dirt back into the trench, and it would be possible to do that, it would be so hard nothing would grow on it. Water might not even soak into it. I got to watch them install some of those big wind turbines. They dug a hole about 30 feet deep and 60 feet in diameter. They created a double layer of 1 inch rebar 40 foot in diameter on the outer layer and 39 feet in the inner diameter. They went up around 4 foot before starting to taper to a smaller diameter, equal to the inner and outer mounting flange of the tower, up to a little above the grade. They then installed the tower anchor bolts with a bolting template holding them into place and welded to the rebar. They then put plywood around the lower 4 feet. Then they started pouring concrete until it reached the template. After the concrete cured for about 40 days they started putting all of the dirt they dug out of the hole and packing it down as they went. By the time they were finished ALL of that dirt was back into place with only a slight rise above grade. So if you ever wondered how they held those wind turbines up and prevent them from toppling over in high winds, now you know. And where I live we can periodically get straight line winds with gust up to 90 MPH or more.
I know the towing to the fuel tank was for effect, but it would’ve been faster to drive there and fill up a can and bring back as it only holds 5 gallons. Nice video. Educational. I ate a Burger King Whopper earlier.
No problem restarting after being fuel starved? I got close to empty recently and was worried about that as I've seen a lot of videos where you have to bleed a diesel injection to get it running again. Thanks for sharing.
Dave’s head shake when Christie says about the cat, “he’s not too bright” at the end was priceless

Way to go Christy, your very good on Vinnie and the power rake. You should be allowed to play some too in the videos

I'm going to need another tractor in case the first one runs out of fuel. Good idea Tim!
People would be shocked to know that I don't own a single diesel (yellow) portable fuel can. It is true.
I forgot about my edge tamers. I just did something like this for a new area of lawn and had a few edge bites. 😮
I might need a pair of them to fill in my pivot ruts this winter

Yea, I like using 3 for snow. I thought 2 fit this application perfectly. Leaving most of the bucket clear for work area.
We just got our dear John letter from JD. I passed it on to the new Owner. Things are a little slower in Canada eh!! Lol.

You might not believe this, as it IS kinda odd. I do not have a single diesel fuel can.

Yes, of course. I have one. However, the PTO powered harley rakes spin in only one direction. This is a severe limitation in the real world.
I level the bucket and then put it in float mode, 3520 standard size bucket.
Float doesn’t work well for me. Too much down pressure.
Those edge tamers are nice and the cost isn’t bad either.

No problem. The fuel pump works great. Allow it to pump for a minute or so before starting.
