Growing Up Gay In Barbados With Adam Goodridge

This week Finlay sits down with Adam Goodridge, about his experience of growing up gay in Barbados. Embracing his sexuality and shining brighter than the binaries of gender, Adam opens up some of the struggles he faced growing up and on a daily basis. We get to understand life in Barbados from Adam's lens and what made him into the person he is today.

Family support is everything. It does not matter how much your friends understand and support you, if your family does not, it creates alot of confusion and depression. I speak from experience.
I imagine that Adam tries so hard, on a daily basis and that he is constantly pushing through the pain. I wish him well.

Thank you for sharing, and you are right. Families do mean a lot to us, especially growing up, and they can shape a lot of our future selves. I love the term chosen family- Those around us who choose to embrace, nurture, love, and support each other regardless of blood or marriage and regardless of who we are. We can find a home in those around us, and that's so special.
