Love Fort DeSoto! We had to cancel our reservations at this fabulous park this past Jan to get ahead of a winter storm. We would have hit Fayetteville with 16 degrees and ice/snow and still not home. No thanks. Fortunately only docked 1 night fee. Love Oscar Scherer too! Thanks for the wonderful Fort DeSoto footage!!!!

Have y'all ever been to Sanibel Island? It's a beautiful place along with Upper Captiva Island. It's the state's best for shelling. The sands are so white and the water is usually pretty clear at this time of the year. I hope one day y'all will visit the islands and see what I mean. Get your reservations for next winter now if you want to stay anywhere on Sanibel during the winter camping season. It's truly a place you don't want to miss out on if you're ever in S.W. Florida. Happy trails and many truly remarkable adventures await y'all.
50 years ago, we would clam and throw the castnet for Mullet about where you had lunch. Than we would take them back to my aunt who would then fry the fish up and make hush puppies and grits on Saturday nights Loved it out there .

It has been a terrible winter here up north. Next year we will be roaming Florida in our Travato in the winter and your videos are giving me a lot of ideas. We just left the Texas coast , lots of places to drive on beaches. We left Arkansas in freezing rain on Feb 2, had good weather till this past week in Texas. The sun finally came out after 4 days and 4 days of below 40.

Ft De Soto such a neat place to spend time. The pelicans and herons are such fun to watch. It always amazes me how they fly so effortlessly in ground effect even dipping their wingtips in the water! All that and massive cheeseburgers! GPS location for the next burger grilling, please. 😉😉 Or maybe I’ll just ask Maggie. Her nose and tail will let me know. Thanks!
We love watching the pelicans too, especially them diving into the water, it is so amazing. That cheeseburger did look pretty massive but he sure was good and Maggie approved.

I wish Ft De Soto campground was a secret. It's almost impossible to get a good site there. So glad you could extend your stay. Oscar Scherer is one of my favorite state parks, especially if you can get those coveted spots along the river
We’ve been trying to get in there for several years, for some reason we just got lucky. We got lucky with Oscar Scherer, but since we have Maggie we couldn’t get on the river, they do look really nice.

Great video. Remember there are 100's of free campgrounds within the water management districts. Matter fact I do believe you made a video on them not sure. They are free and very nice to boondock.

One of my favorite places. I've camped there a few times. Sites facing the gulf are awesome! Egmont Key Island is gorgeous! I miss that area. I used to live near the Gandhi bridge in Tampa.

So I get the feeling that you don't experience too much anxiety when you work on booking new places to stay. That's helpful for me, as I'll be doing this full-time soon, and finding places to stay is my top worry just now. Thanks.
We don’t worry to much about booking places to stay, I think it depends on the area you are staying. We do try to plan a couple of weeks out when we know we are going to be in a certain area. We use Harvest Host, Campendium and IOverlandder mostly to find places to stay also RVParky is great for planing a trip. Good luck on going full time. Let us know if you have any questions.

Hoping y’all are finding many opportunities for wasting some time. 😉 Things are hopping a little bit in NW FL as the build up to Mardi Gras Day approaches. We briefly considered a run down to Pensacola Beach and Ft. Pickens but sanity prevailed . There will be crowds of people down there for a Mardi Gras parade and much merriment. So not today. That’s the beauty of living where we do. In a few more days (3) it’ll all be over until next year (the Insanity that is Mardi Gras, that is) and we can go out to a peaceful, serene beach. Temps are supposed to be 77+ Looking forward to next week’s chapter in lifestyles of the Van Trekkers! Byeee! Maggie is a peach! Give her an extra bite of burger, just because she’s too cute!

We really like the screen room, it’s good to have an extra place to hang out even if there’s no bug, but especially if there are bugs, and it’s small enough to carry on the ladder.
Yes… our experience with having to use our iPhones to zoom in on the great owl we got to experience convinced us that we need a camera that allows us to do a lot of optical zoom when needed. So now we have our iPhones, LAC (Little-Ass-Camera) and BAC (Big… 😂). It does a great job… now we just need to remember to take it with us when we hike and bike.
Ft Desoto is our favorite local park. We were just there a few weeks ago! Question for you, we just got an Insta 360 ONE X2 camera as well. You did a great job with the editing. What program do you edit the 360 footage in?
We love Ft Desoto too! None of the footage from this trip is on the One X2 360… it’s on the Insta360 Go 2… the little camera. On 360 footage I always edit the footage with the Insta360 app by bring up the part that lets you spin around pointing the phone and repositioning. Works best sitting in a swivel office chair too btw!
We have Rad mini fat tire step thru. We’ve had the bikes for over two years and have been really happy with them. However, there are so many new one out there we may have to do more research before I could say we would buy the same ones. I will say they are a great company and have awesome customer support. It’s a big decision… good luck
I try not to give her a lot of table food, Owen not so much. He thinks she should be able to get a bite of everything she wants and Maggie agrees with him.

One of my favorite places. I've camped there a few times. Sites facing the gulf are awesome! Egmont Key Island is gorgeous! I miss that area. I used to live near the Gandhi bridge in Tampa.

Loved this video! The scenery, the wildlife, (have never seen white pelicans), Maggie doing “zoomies”! Hope we can snag a site at Fort DeSoto one day. So I get the feeling that you don't experience too much anxiety when you work on booking new places to stay. That's helpful for me, as I'll be doing this full-time soon, and finding places to stay is my top worry just now. Thanks.
We don’t worry to much about booking places to stay, I think it depends on the area you are staying. We do try to plan a couple of weeks out when we know we are going to be in a certain area. We use Harvest Host, Campendium and IOverlandder mostly to find places to stay also RVParky is great for planing a trip. Good luck on going full time. Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks for another post card from the road! It is always a treat to see what you guys are up to. Hoping y’all are finding many opportunities for wasting some time. 😉 Things are hopping a little bit in NW FL as the build up to Mardi Gras Day approaches. We briefly considered a run down to Pensacola Beach and Ft. Pickens but sanity prevailed . There will be crowds of people down there for a Mardi Gras parade and much merriment. So not today. That’s the beauty of living where we do. In a few more days (3) it’ll all be over until next year (the Insanity that is Mardi Gras, that is) and we can go out to a peaceful, serene beach. Temps are supposed to be 77+ Looking forward to next week’s chapter in lifestyles of the Van Trekkers! Byeee! Maggie is a peach! Give her an extra bite of burger, just because she’s too cute!
We’ve been around Florida during Marci Gras and it is very crowded and a lot of fun, but you know how much we like crowds. Sounds like you are having prefect weather. See you next Sunday or maybe Tuesday.

Yes… our experience with having to use our iPhones to zoom in on the great owl we got to experience convinced us that we need a camera that allows us to do a lot of optical zoom when needed. So now we have our iPhones, LAC (Little-Ass-Camera) and BAC (Big… 😂). It does a great job… now we just need to remember to take it with us when we hike and bike.

Ft Desoto is our favorite local park. We were just there a few weeks ago! Question for you, we just got an Insta 360 ONE X2 camera as well. You did a great job with the editing. What program do you edit the 360 footage in?
We love Ft Desoto too! None of the footage from this trip is on the One X2 360… it’s on the Insta360 Go 2… the little camera. On 360 footage I always edit the footage with the Insta360 app by bring up the part that lets you spin around pointing the phone and repositioning. Works best sitting in a swivel office chair too btw!

We have Rad mini fat tire step thru. We’ve had the bikes for over two years and have been really happy with them. However, there are so many new one out there we may have to do more research before I could say we would buy the same ones. I will say they are a great company and have awesome customer support. It’s a big decision… good luck
