Great tips and good job of trying to quell the argument. I personally do both depending on where we are hiking at. Coffee grounds are good for the soil. But in highly congested areas its always better to pack everything out.

Great tips! We love to hike in the woods and we are amazed at how much trash is left behind! Hubby is always crawling in to collect other people's trash! Carry it in, carry it out!!! Thanks for sharing!>Sue

I don't drink coffee, but the information you provided is great! I will definitely look into purchasing the mylar MRE bags to replace the Ziploc freezer bags!

Great tips. I view coffee as a plant that will decompose. It's actually something that decomposes quickly in compost bins. It's in a state that you don't need to worry about it geminating. So I dump the grounds at the base of a tree and cover with some duff to encourage the decomposition. (Typically a tree away from camper activity) If I have an active campfire, the grounds might go into the fire. It's plant material that will burn once it dries out.

Ya know, when we are on our trips we will always have some form of stove with us. Because of that we always have a fire in the morning just to burn (dispose of) our coffee grounds and filter. Not once hae either of us thought about putting them in the hole with our daily business. Thank you for sharing that Jason!

Those are great tips! I love the idea of using your meal bags to pack them out. I honestly had never thought of that and it’s so simple it’s genius! I’ve seen a few comments about burning them, that works in some areas, but unfortunately where I live and play, the risk of wildfires is usually so high that we often don’t have fires at all. These tips make me want to up my backcountry coffee game again. Thanks for the shout out!

Thanks for opening the conversation. Depending on the situation I pack out or burn waste. Like the idea of just burying in your cathole. Usually that's needed after the coffee anyway.

Hey Dan! Yup, coffee and turn into a cat hole digging experience so why not take extra advantage of that. Thanks for watching and being awesome!

Those are great tips on disposal of trash, I never leave min in the bush, I often burn anything combustible, but not plastic, including coffee grounds, they burn up just fine

Great idea, very innovative. You are right, you don't have to bring anything extra cause we all bring the dehydrated meals. I love the meals from trailmagic. They are sooo good. Great info on the bags, we were wondering where to get them.

Hey Nicole! I appreciate your support! The people at Trailbound are so awesome and it's good to see they are finally getting to be able to sell the meals and not just have to give them away. Thanks for sharing and being awesome!

I have friends who use coffee grinds for worm bedding. It is all natural, so however you dispose of it is ok

Up to this point I've only carried instant coffee so I've never really questioned what to do with coffee grounds. I am starting to lean toward carrying pour over coffees for shorter trips. Burying the grounds sounds like the way to go to keep from carrying the extra wet grounds weight. Honestly, it probably isn't that much but every little bit counts.
I haven't tried the Trail Magic dehydrated meals but hoping to in the near future.
