    This has to be one of the best soundsets I've ever heard. It actually sounds like a regional jet, and the cockpit is one of the best weathering texture jobs I've ever seen. Been waiting a long time, and I'm very very excited for release this week.

    Only found this video now and bloody hell does it look good. I definitely wasn’t searching for videos specifically based on the Ansett livery ;) also was a bit of a shock seeing kalgoorlie, a place ive spent a decent amount of time in.
    The sounds on this module sound bloody awesome, especially in the back. Gave me PTSD of having to fly in one of these from Curtin (derby) to Perth. Longest flight of my LIFE. I definitely suggest flying to YBRM, the colours are so vibrant and its absolutely gorgeous. Orbx does a scenery for it as far as i know. Not certain as im on XP12.

    Excellent showcase of this fine product from Just Flight. Appreciate your good work in producing this video. Steam gauges are my personal preference, and nice to see this well represented here. Oops though, I did notice there were no engine animations, fins were static on engine start !. I Hope Just Flight fix this and I am sure that in the weeks to come further improvements will be made. Just a wee niggle !!. Great product. Thank you.

      Thanks very much ITMann! I’m really glad you enjoyed the video and the F28 is indeed a fine effort from Just Flight.
      I suspect you may be aware at this point, but the engines are in fact animated correctly. The static fins at the front of the engine are stator vanes, ie they are designed to operate in fixed in position. I hope that clarifies things.
      My pleasure on the video! Thanks very much once again and all the best : )

    A hearty good afternoon from America! Thank-you so very much for another great demonstration of the new MSFS addon. This is Guerry, and as a new MSFS enthusiast, flying the F28 will of course be my first addon to purchase as I see no real reason to need further flight training once I’ve mastered landing the Cessna 152. I AM JOKING! Actually as of now, I am perfectly satisfied with flying general aviation aircraft, but in the future, the F28 is right down my alley when the time comes for me to advance into flying a jet airliner. By the way, I’m sorry to be late to the party. Not only do I view ITB videos for entertainment, but I actually study your posts in order to learn. Consequently, I do a lot of stopping and starting, and at times, I even take notes.
    As you mentioned, the F28 is an old school type of aircraft. Not only am I impressed with it having the older cockpit layout, but also the exterior of the aircraft is for me is eye poppingly detailed as the commercial aircraft from the late 60’s were. For the first thing I noticed was the older ADF/DME antenna configuration. But that which was absolutely the most inspiring aspect of the aircraft is the lack of cockpit automation. Hand flying was the norm rather than reliance on computers handing many of the inflight operations. I happen to be one who loves hands on flying.
    As a side note for those who fly in different parts of the world the subscription for obtaining flight charts is a bit superfluous. I have been able to locate worldwide flying charts and the various instrument landing plates for the world’s airports free online. For example, I quickly found the charts for Perth on this website: www.crc.id.au/xplane/charts/DAPS-2022-DEC-01/Perth%20(YPPH).pdf. Most certainly these charts are dated. But they have served me well for flying on the MSFS simulator. Furthermore, I prefer to print them and exclusively use my monitors for cockpit viewing.
    One thing I would try with this type of aircraft that was not part of your review was to fill the cabin with passengers and fly through some heavy turbulence. Indeed, I think it would be some really fun animation to show white knuckled passengers hanging on for life (as if that helps), with overhead bins opening and dumping personal items into the aisle. Furthermore, let’s not forget all those spilled drinks that baptize those previously enjoying a before dinner aperitif. As one who has personally experienced real life episodes, I am easily identified as the passenger who shouts, “Do it again! Do it again!”
    Again sir, thank-you so much for taking the time and effort to share this video with us. Please continue doing great work.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Guerry,
      Thanks very much once again for your thoughts. I’m really happy to hear that you continue to enjoy the content and find it to be of use. If you’ve been taking notes, you can straight to the top of the class! : P
      The F28 is another very impressive effort from Just Flight and indeed, the old-school cockpit makes the jet very appealing to many (myself included). The aircraft makes for a very enjoyable and sometimes challenging experience.
      Haha, you’ll have to have a word with Just Flight regarding passengers - nobody wanted to ride on my F28 (they should, the drinks were free! ; )
      My absolute pleasure, as always! Happy flying and take care : )

      Yeah, it’s definitely got that sort of feel to it, Wanderer. Makes sense I suppose, they are both rear-engines twinjets, from broadly the same era. I love this vintage of aircraft and whilst I’d really like a DC9, the Fokker ticks all of the same boxes for me + it was brilliant fun learning a new jet (this was the first chance I’ve had to experience an F28 in any sim). As you say, a nice change of pace from the “usual” haha.

    Great stuff - waiting for to check the earlier F28-1000. Hope they add a few missing cockpit sound. APU start - electric pump. Air condition components are place under cockpit floor - there is a weak background pneumatic noise in in cockpit. Edit - watching other previews, the sound is brilliant. Guess the sound is more muted in this preview
    Maybe it is only on the -1000 - leading edge is coated with a special matt grey paint that does not isolate the anti ice heat.
    At TO power with brakes on - there should be a distinctive nose down attitude as the nose gear compress, and small shake in panel. Would add the feel of RR Spey power.
    If I remember correct (sitting on jump seat) - pilots used the speed brake more active on descend and approach. There is a blow in mechanism that retracts (balance) speed brake at higher speed.
    And finally literary LOL when you often used blue the pitch switch. As pilots did in real life.
    It is guarded with a couple of lips - and you must imagine pilot finger constantly flicker the switch.
    An d you guessed it - it is called the clit***s
    Thank you Just Flight - long wait - and instant buy ---- Praying for the beautiful Braathens SAFE livery (launch customer)

      Hmm, I’m not sure why the sounds would have come across as more muted in my video, I don’t recall having adjusted them in any way. Either way, the soundset is absolutely superb. The first time I listened to the F-28 I was impressed, but then when I finally listened to the aircraft with a proper set of headphones, I was blown away!
      Thank you for that very “informative” anecdote re the pitch switch haha - that’s not one I’ll forget in a hurry XD

      I'm glad that the video was right up your alley! I was using the 4000 variant in the video (that's the one Just Flight gave the Ansett livery to).
      The Spey is a particularly wonderful (AKA noisy) jet engine haha. I always loved the BAC-111 for the same reason (and probably damaged my hearing with David Maltby's recreation of the aircraft, in FS2004 XD ). Similarly, the Just Flight Fokker is a brilliant piece of design and as you say, it is really great to see some developers willing to go out on a limb and bring us these brilliant pieces of history!

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is indeed (an interesting aircraft), MA! Whilst strictly neither RVSM, or RNP capable, one could definitely “fudge” it (though I’m guessing that might be frowned upon on VATSIM haha); the F28 can follow a GNS530 routing pretty accurately and HGT HOLD should just about do the trick (I’m guessing altimeter error etc isn’t modelled). Strictly speaking though, the F28 probably shouldn’t be operating in such an environment.

    My usual amazement is when I see a new flight video with a new complex addon (aircraft) and you go through the aircraft systems as if you've been operating it forever :) Impressive! How much time does it take to memorize all the sequences of all flight phases, systems, options etc.! I am probably too lazy to even get into the manuals of one of my fancy addons and make it mine.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks you very much Karamich! Haha, I certainly try to do my homework ahead of time. It depends on the aircraft of course, but it usually takes me a couple of hours to get up to speed on the systems (whether that’s running through the process with the addon, or watching tutorials ahead of time). One of my favourite aspects of simming, has always been picking up a new product and figuring out the aircraft’s systems; the process is something I enjoy and it’s also a task I’ve gotten to be pretty proficient at. Once you understand the systems logic of one aircraft type, it tends to carry across to other aircraft of the same type (which certainly makes things a little easier). I think the Colimata Concorde (for X-Plane), was probably one of the addons that took me the longest to get up to speed with, as the systems / operating logic is quite different from most other aircraft.
      Many thanks once again and all the best! : )

    Looking like JF did a good job here too - their F28 audio ASMR video was a great preview! Mention of the FM being a little direct is concerning, given I thought they'd got past that by now - the 146 is also a bit direct at the moment although it still feels pretty weighty. I think possibly I'm just getting more sensitive to issues :S ( good for the budget, lol )

    • @CambsPilot

      The FM on both aircraft have been developed with the help of real pilots and engineers of the type, something to bear in mind when considering feedback.

    • @Karibanu
      @Karibanu ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CambsPilot The 146 feels more direct than when it first appeared, unless I'm just less tolerant ( which is a problem, have to admit ). I've also worked with pilots trying to sort feel issues, they're a mixed bunch :P very much have to direct most of them to areas of attention... if only there was a ready supply of test pilots!
      The 146 is still a great aircraft, these are minor quibbles in a non-aerobatic a/c .

    • @Karibanu
      @Karibanu ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I've flown it a bit - and it's nice and heavy in pitch, but the roll response is up there with bigger ( well done, not MSFS standard ) jet fighters. It *should* be better than the 146 or something like an E195 because there's no engines to add extra moment, but I can fly it around just nudging my stick to roll it, as if I was flying a helicopter. It does at least take noticeable time to get up to roll rate, which beats a lot of MSFS aircraft already. Edit: flown some approaches & the roll response is not good, it feels like I'm flying a different aircraft in roll than pitch, not coherent. The nosewheel steering sensitivity needs sorting badly too ( as ITB noted ) - some of that is also MSFS, which seems to max out nosegear steering angle at 50% rudder...
      Otherwise another superb aircraft.
      I'm fairly sure MSFS SDK is not providing proper guidance on defining control surfaces, especially ailerons. I've been constructing a new FM for a simple a/c from scratch without referring to any previous MSFS incarnations and it's definitely a battle and a lot of shouting at Asobo...

      Indeed; overall, the F28 is another very nice effort from the Just Flight team!
      I think your point re pilots, vs engineers, vs test pilots, is a very fair one and something I wholeheartedly agree with. Ask the average pilot about moments of inertia and he probably won’t have much to say. Ask the average engineer about “feel” and ditto. Test pilots are a rare breed (for good reason) and I’m sure are hard to come by for these sorts of projects, but are probably what’s needed to create a wholly accurate flight model within a sim. As I’m always keen to point out during my reviews, I can only make a “best guess” when judging most flight models and I’m certainly not as “particular” about aircraft behaviour as some (cough cough ; ), but usually one can gauge (at least to some degree) when an aircraft “feels” right and whilst excellent overall, for me, the F28 does deviate on a few points there.
      Cheers for the feedback! All the best : )

YOUR videos are "study level" and if you want to learn how to really fly this aircraft and most others, watch the video a couple times in slow motion and you will know what the switches/knobs do and where they are.

    Pretty late comment here, but just for any out there still considering this one. I installed the F28 the day it released and have spent a good deal of time with it, really is a great vintage regional airliner. But I never expected failures - they aren't mentioned in the manual. Nevertheless I was entering the later stages of approach into somewhat tricky KASE with the series 3000 and lost #1 engine. No reason really, just went dead. Being down to 12,000 and tucked between mountain peaks in rough air there wasn't much opportunity to troubleshoot and try restart, just had to manually fly it accordingly to land, learning a single engine final "on the fly" so to speak. I donno, maybe going too low throttle (flight idle for a moment once) during descent triggered that, perhaps someone can enlighten me... At any rate, after probably 30 flights to have that occur, rather surprising. If you already have this fantastic jet for FS, be aware... it does have the potential to make things interesting!

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, well that’s an interesting one, Gary! I don’t believe that failures are officially modelled on the aircraft yet, but I gather some failure modelling will be included at a later date. I have no idea what might have caused your #1 to shut down, but it sounds like it would have been a nice little challenge to get the jet back on the ground!

    Well, I have 7 full flights in it so far. I've been flying the Canadian Regional all over Ontario.
    I watched all the JustFlight YT videos and took notes. I really had no problem at all with it.
    First, the plane is modeled beautifully! The cabin is awesome, That interior door handle/latch is so neat! The plane handles really well. Awesome performance on my machine.
    My only real gripe is the font and gauge size. The whole real estate of the panel seems a little out of proportion, the AP control looks so much bigger than the background gauges. Your doing so much work during a flight I constantly have to zoom in just to see the numbers. Maybe it a setting on my machine i need to fix.
    I own:
    Concorde
    Twin Otter
    CRJ
    PMDG 737
    Maddog MD-80
    BAE-146
    AN-22
    However, I feel the the whole "STUDY LEVEL" term is being used way too much to get another $20 tacked on to the asking price in my opinion. This aircraft is not any harder to learn than the other ones I own. In fact, the 737, Mad Dog and BAE-146 were much more harder to learn than the F-28. Just from the perspective that they all have a FMS that needs to be learned. To be completely honest, this is a $39.99 to $49.99 plane at best. Your going to have to "want" to navigate VOR to VOR, Your going to need a paper flightplan right next to you. Your going to manage airspeed and setup radios, inbound / outbound courses constantly. It's 1970's era operations all the way! No Airbus or Boeing FMS's here.
    But, Once you go through the all the motions of clicking fire loops and pushing test button here BEEP, BEEP, push this button there WHOOP, WHOOP. The whole "STUDY LEVEL" quickly fades away. I said to myself, "O.k. now I need to setup my flight plan....... Oh, that's right, there's no GPS"
    If your thinking of buying this, think of what kind of a simmer you are. Navigate-ie or FMS-ie. Just Flight has the Fokker 100 coming out in the future which is far more modernized with digital gauges and a FMS in the similar airframe as this one.

      Thank you for your thoughts Donald, I’m sure they will be of use to other potential buyers of the addon. Indeed, the F28 will not be for everyone, but for those who enjoy their old-school, steam gauge aircraft, there’s a lot of fun and enjoyment to be had from the Fokker.
      I do largely agree with you, re the “study level” concept, but I’ve yet to come across a better way of distinguishing a full-fidelity addon from something less complex. There is some rough line in the sand, where those two concepts meet and personally I use “study level” to differentiate between the two. I do consider the F28 to be a “study level” aircraft, though I realise not everyone would agree with me there.
      I know what you mean about the gauges. It’s tricky to say whether the scaling is off, or whether the gauge size simply isn’t well suited to an average monitor.
      Again though, as you point out, the F28 will be an acquired taste. I know that many are enjoying the aircraft very much (myself included), but it’s certainly worth considering, whether or not the Fokker will suit one’s personal simming style.
      Cheers again! All the best : )

      Hello Ricardo,
      Thank you very much for the kind words, I’m really glad you’re enjoying the content!
      Oooof, that’s a tough one haha! All things considered, I think the F28 offers much better value for money overall; the F28 has better texturing, sounds and a more functional EFB than the Maddog, not to mention that Just Flight’s offering is significantly cheaper than the MD80. That being said, the MD80 is still a great addon and one that is very enjoyable to operate (so long as you can look past the texturing and live with the sub-par sounds). I think one point that is very important to consider; how much “manual” flying do you want to be doing? The F28 only comes with a very basic autopilot and very limited navigational systems (unless you want to make use of the GNS530, you’ll be navigation VOR to VOR). Whilst that can make for some really fun / challenging flights, a lot of people wouldn’t want to be flying like that all the time. The Maddog on the other hand, comes with a much more modern avionics setup and can be flown like pretty much any other modern jet.
      I think the F28 is objectively “better”, or at least a more complete product overall. If I had to choose only one long-term option for the sim though, I think I would probably go with the Maddog, purely based on the automation / aircraft capabilities argument. Then again, if you already own another modern jet (the 737 for example), I’d definitely be swayed towards the Fokker, as the aircraft really does offer up something a bit different.
      I hope that helps a bit? A very tricky question indeed haha. All the best! : )

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Georgios,
      Well, up until relatively recently, SID’s / STAR’s were flown much as you see them today, except instead of the waypoints being based on GPS positions, they were based on navaid locations, radials, DME’s etc. There are still quite a few “conventional” SID’s / STAR’s kicking around, but they are becoming progressively less common. Radar vectoring is certainly one solution, if an aircraft isn’t RNAV capable.

The Fokker F28 Fellowship is a twin-engined, short-range jet airliner designed and built by Dutch aircraft manufacturer Fokker. The aircraft was powered by two tail-mounted Rolls-Royce Spey engines. The first customers were LTU and Braathens, which put the aircraft type into service in 1969. Another excellent report about a very interesting jet from the Netherlands. My neighboring country.

    I’m emotionally attached to this aircraft, it was the first aircraft I flew as a passenger in 1985, and was the first airliner I operated as FO in 1998.
    I didn’t hesitate one second to buy the addon as soon as it was released despite its high price. This is what I think of it:
    1) external and cabin 3D modeling is great.
    2) flight model is just default Msfs model, same feeling as all jet msfs aircraft, I guess it is a Msfs limitation JF are not at fault here.
    3) cockpit instruments and captions are aweful!! Tiny, blurry and barely readable.
    4) FPS is very bad, compared to PMDG and FBW, even though these latter are more modern and thus more CPU intensive.
    I hope JF will do something about 3&4.

      I can’t say for sure, but it’s quite possible that the Just Flight F28, simply doesn’t like being taken into the air from cold and dark. Oftentimes, more complex addons need to be operated in a more “linear” fashion, otherwise systems errors can unfold. It’s hard to say exactly what the problem is, without knowing all of the details; have you tried a windmill restart, turning off the packs, HP fuel valves on / off for the start etc? It could simply be a bug but again, difficult to say I’m afraid.

    Sitting on Dixie trying to get out of KATL and everyone was late and getting frazzled. A Delta pilot on ground said "Can you get the pilot in the Fokker to get off the brakes.. We got a something called a schedule."

      Its boringly simple actually. The ATC is real-world recordings (typically from LiveATC.net), which I’ve then edited into the video. There is actually an ATC chatter app available for MSFS though, if that’s the sort of thing you’re after : )

      Well, apparently the MSFS chatter app tries to bring in appropriate regional accent where it can, but obviously that depends on whether the country in question allows the recording / broadcast of ATC transmissions.
      It looks like some promising ATC addons are inbound for MSFS though, so they should do the trick until AI finally takes over the world. I should just give VATSIM a bash, but I can’t quite wrap my head around the “top-down” control style and know I’d just make an absolute dogs dinner of it XD

    Unfortunately many top devs of today never heard of or tested their planes in VR, like other planes for MSFS this one suffers from grave perspective distortions and weak technology in modeling and texturing. What seems pleasant weathering in "pancake mode" in VR is simply substandard and the saddest thing is these devs feel good about themselves as nobody (with a serious voice in the field) tells them anything.
