  • Denso O2 sensors replacement from Amazon. You can see the part number in the video. It took about 1 hour to complete, mostly due to the electrical plugs being stubborn and one little wire zip tie.

Great video. I'm currently cleaning the intake manifold, hoses, sensors and fuel filter/PHH and decided to take a look at the O2 sensors while the beast is up on jacks (96 LX 450, 352K miles). I have the passenger wheel off and just happened to notice that upstream sensor within an easy reach of the wheel well. I cracked up on your dislike of plastic sensors--just having cracked nearly every one of the injector backshells. Nowadays, I get the male (vehicle mounted) connectors on just about anything I'm planning on touching (hoses as well). Instead of trying to carefully eject the conductors from the plug, I just crack them with a pair of pliers like a walnut, and plug the contacts into a new backshell. Amazing what one gets good at when you own an FJ80/LX450.

Those grooves in the nuts are to clean the thread so rust does not bind the nut up!

Great video and ALWAYS use the Denso 02 (or OEM) sensors for our 80 series. Good decision and yes the plastic connectors can be a real joy. Toyota exhaust nuts located on studs usually have that cut out and they’re considered “one time use” but I’ve reused them without an issue. I recommend a high temp anti-seize on the studs in case you ever need to remove them.

Mate what sort of symptoms were you experiencing while driving caused by the faulty O2 sensor? I think my 80 has an issue with my O2 sensor

It was throwing codes. Not much of a symptom. I checked the codes with a scanner and decided to replace both of them.

I don't know what the correct part number is for your engine. Mine is 1FZ-FE. I don't know if the are the same or different.
