I truly love Japan. I come from Sweden. It's not as populated as Japan but still alot more kaotic and rude. I feel a calm when I arrive at Narita. I feel welcome, even if I am just a gaijin.
thanks for the ATC, I've only done this approach in FSX, but not for real.... always the 34s. 16R is more fun for the terminal shots from that seat. Cheers!
I get the impression there is a single drive motor operating flaps slats and main landing gear through transmissions. The motor spins up just before landing in case of a go around which would require immediate landing gear and partial flap retraction.
Great video thanks for posting. Its my dream to one day visit Japan! Whats cool about this video is how the landing is so quiet - no reverse thrust used. I like landings like that! They just quietly roll em on. Avoiding unnecessary reverse thrust prevents further wear & tear on the engines and saves fuel. And so cool you can hear ATC on this plane?? Only this airline has this facility?
I've looked at a few of these videos, and I wish someone would be sitting on the other side of the plane, so I can see the NARITA sign. Been trying to show my son for a few months. Wish I had a video camera when I flew there.
I get the sonic impression there's one central motor powering the flaps and leading edge slats. Power distributed by transmission. Fascinating. Excellent vids by the way, dunno how you hold the camera so still for so long.
From my perspective Tokyo is one of the more exciting destinations. To tell you the truth I am running out of truly exciting destinations to think of on my end.
@RJfan I guess it's from Channel 9, which UA pilot turned on for passengers so that they too can listen to ATC if they are interested in that kind of stuff.
Very true that United has some of the best landings. Always a smooth and quiet touchdown with little thrust reverser. Shame these planes no longer wear the tulip though.
And, i am not sure, is FA announcement also heard in Channel 9? if not, how did you get both in this video? did you pull the device out once the plane touched down so that you could get the sound in the cabin? i am just curious. anyways, great video.
Oh my bucket list trip right here folks. I have such a great affinity for the Japanese and there culture. I will CERTAINLY be getting over there for a 2 week trip before i'm in the ground...!!! LOL But i'm debating whether to take an American airliner. Or ANA OR JAL instead for a truly "authentic experience" for my entire trip. Unfortunately, i've already found out that my city of Boston, Massachusetts only has non-stop flights into Narita. And that puts me in a slight pickle of a 2+hr commute into Shinjuku where my hotel will be. I really wish i could fly into Haneda non-stop from Boston. I know you can from New York and i don't know why Logan in Boston doesn't offer the same. If anyone know's the reasons why please reply and let me know if you've taken this trip before. They say that Haneda being only an hour if that from downtown Tokyo is A LOT easier to fly into. And easier to navigate then Narita i'm not sure if that's true so that's why i'm asking if anyone's flown into both airports before. And i'm DEFINITELY going business class for sure.
Lots of questions you're asking. lol The airline you fly won't matter much. You're not going to get much "experience" on board. I've flown into and out of both airports a lot. Narita is about an hour outside the city but you can commute between the two fairly easily. There is train commuter service or bus service from Narita into Tokyo. Airlines cannot fly into an airport just because they want to. Airlines need to be awarded routes by the government.
Great videos!! If possible, I would really like to use a few of your videos in some research I am doing right now. Is there a way to contact you to get more information? Thanks!
You already realize I've just touched down from NH201 right ;) I'm about to fly back to tokyo tonight :P Of course I will be asleep though :D Heheheheheheheh ... andre you're such a stalker... ;)
Hey, have you heard of "TravElsewhere" (do a Google search for it)? I have found quite a few unbelievably affordable hotels and flights. This might allow you to spend less on your next getaway as well.
Nishan Kapuge I'm using an alt account by the way for my old account, but I think either put his head set output near his camera input, or directly put the output to the input.
The ATC sounded great. And the pilots were pro! VERY nice vid
Landing at Narita is one of best feelings in the world.
Why is that?
I truly love Japan. I come from Sweden. It's not as populated as Japan but still alot more kaotic and rude. I feel a calm when I arrive at Narita. I feel welcome, even if I am just a gaijin.
That's right! Everyone is welcome in Japan!! So, do live in Japan right now??
By the way I live in Narita!!
I live in Sweden now, but visit Japan now and then.
Really, Mr. Tokyo? Try landing at Narita with a 40kt crosswind on a long final and get back with me. LMAO
landing at tokyo narita or haneda is the best feeling in the world.Tokyo and all of Japan is heaven on earth
este piloto es un master, ni cuenta me di cuando toco suelo, es un piloto super eficiente.
thanks for the ATC, I've only done this approach in FSX, but not for real.... always the 34s. 16R is more fun for the terminal shots from that seat. Cheers!
Nice vid, and smooth landing! United now operates the 787 from lax-nrt, so if you ever travel that route again, you'll be on the 787!

Great job. Nice video...very smooth landing...
Nice footage of the flap deployment.
Very nice!
These Moosevids are always the best.
From my perspective Tokyo is one of the more exciting destinations. To tell you the truth I am running out of truly exciting destinations to think of on my end.
what a soft landing
Really nice
wow what a smooth touchdown :D
@RJfan I guess it's from Channel 9, which UA pilot turned on for passengers so that they too can listen to ATC if they are interested in that kind of stuff.
Superb video!
I can tell that landing was extremely smooth :)
United lets its passengers listen to the ATC through an audio channel using headphones. I'm guessing, the head phones were placed near the mic.
smooth landing! very nice!
best inflight video i have ever seen! :)
amazing video!!!!!!!!!!
EXTREMELEY SMOOTH LANDING!!! NICE@@@@@!!!
That was a real nice landing
tokyo the most beautiful city in the world in the most beautiful country in the world with the most civilized people.Japan is #1
Very true that United has some of the best landings. Always a smooth and quiet touchdown with little thrust reverser. Shame these planes no longer wear the tulip though.
Depends how long the runway is and if early runway exit is preferred
that wing looks so cool
damn... very smooth landing!
Nice landing

Thanks for the info!
great video I love it! how did you get your camera to stay so still? did you mount it somewhere?
good question. But you're gay. Admit it.
that was a good landing no reverse thrust set used right?
Great videos!! If possible, I would really like to use a few of your videos in some research I am doing right now. Is there a way to contact you to get more information? Thanks!
Nice recording, is it channel 9? what recording device did you use to plug into that mic slot?
What camera do you use? Great filming.
Awesome ! How did you get the ATC Sound while filming ?
Channel 9 on United Flights has ATC. Been awhile though since I used United so he might be using LiveATC app if they don't have channel 9 anymore.
good landing
perfect video
Wooow very nice !
No, there was no more movement. The sound you hear is the hydraulics.
nice video :)
Bro. How do you get the air traffic control with the video???
I always wonder why the pilot waits to retract the and not do it right after landing?
how did you maintain the camera steady? used a suction cup? or very steady hand?
8:32 利根川上空でランディングギア出す
Was the flap still extending prior to touchdown?...
im guessing a laptop/iphone/ipad lstening to ATC through the internet
Nice video!!! How did you get ATC as a passenger?? Thanks!
United I think most US airlines has LIVE ATC ON channel 9
Oh wow. I didn't know that. I'll check it out. Thanks!
How did you fix to listen to atc during the flight?:o nice vid!
OMG ANA202 all over the freq! :D I now give this 10*s now! :P
Did the pilot request the flaps to deploy?
ahaha! LOOOOOOL! :P why not both at once? you thought the fleshy one was cute though anyway! ;)
At 7:54. Did the pilot say Korean Tower?
Landing with the Air Traffic Control, don't you hear the dialouge?
how the heck did you get the radio transmissions????
seriously, one day you'll have to FLY that route! :D
awesome!
How does you record the ATC voice??? O.o"
You already realize I've just touched down from NH201 right ;)
I'm about to fly back to tokyo tonight :P Of course I will be asleep though :D Heheheheheheheh ... andre you're such a stalker... ;)
How did you get the ATC recording?
The FA announcement cancels out the channel to get your attention, since the ATC channel 9 was still part of the inflight entertainment.
What row and seat were you in?
some airlines let their passengers listen to the atc during the flight.
Awesomeness
you on vatsim? ;)
how did you get the ATC?
what does landing with atc mean?
Where
Hey, have you heard of "TravElsewhere" (do a Google search for it)? I have found quite a few unbelievably affordable hotels and flights. This might allow you to spend less on your next getaway as well.
@127raf Yes Sir Best Sound Of Gears Going Down
Don't understand a word after 12:16. What do they think this is? japan? Sheesh.

Awesome plane
@MoosemanSG i want to get it if i fly with an airline again
08:19 Wheels open ?
I am from Japan Tokyo konnichiwa
I have Flight Simulator X and maybe it can helping me to landing.
How did you record the ATC ??
***** Ok, but HOW did you recorded ?
Nishan Kapuge I'm using an alt account by the way for my old account, but I think either put his head set output near his camera input, or directly put the output to the input.
United has a feature called channel 9 that allows you to listen to ATC so I'm guessing he probably put the headphones close to the camera.
>>>>__
i mean in REAL LIFE! :D you could mate with that ana girl on the LHR ticket desk. ;)
Agreed, the new livery is very dull and looks like it belongs to a cargo company.
