In this video we will show you how we remove the rear seat on a VW Jetta MK5. This procedure should work on VW Golf mk5 as well. It is a little tricky to remove the rear seat, especially if it is a leather seat because it is not as soft for removing the caps. If you ever need to remove the rear bottom seat of you VW Jetta or Golf MK5 this should be helpful.

Hey guys, save yourself the aggravation of trying to squeeze those caps out of the seats. Just remove the seat backs first, and then the caps come off in 2 seconds. Just fold down the backs, remove the trim piece over the center hinge, remove the torx screw over the retainer plate and remove the plate. lift up the inner side of the small back to clear the large back and pull inwards to release from the pin holding down the outer side. Once free you can shove it into the trunk, don't even need to remove from the car. Repeat on large back. This takes all of 5 minutes and makes removing the bottom cushion much easier.

I just wanted to remove the upper part which by your excellent description was dead easy. Unfortunately, since I want to remove it completely I need a torx bit to detach the seatbelt mount. My issue was the seats don't fold flat which I consider a flaw. Now I can utilize that space more effectively! Almost like my mk5 is a mini-van now ty

It’s a lot easier if you take the backs off first. It’s just two levers take the backs off and then those clips come right out.
