8:01 Joey Loganos win at New Hampshire in 2009 also broke a record in the cup series with the youngest winner at 19 years old, one month and four days.
The first NASCAR race i was able to go to was Portland 2022 and it rained all day so im pretty grateful for the rain package and that NASCAR decided to come back.
Riverside International Raceway 1983 Bill Elliott winning his first win will always be my favorite rain short and race keep up the good work have a good one and God bless
The 1993 Blizzard of the Century was interesting. The Cup race was held a week or so later. The Busch race ended up moving to November as thr season finale. I believe the Busch series wad racing at Hickory the following weekend. 1987 Spring Richmond race wad also moved back a couple weeks from its original date because of snow.
Another one I haven’t seen talked about is Texas in 2020 I believe when it was rained out all the way to Wednesday and Kyle Busch would get his one and only win of 2020 in the zombies skittles car I was in attendance for Sunday they made it 4-5 laps in and Kevin Harvick slid up into the wall when the rain started we went to bass pro across the street to wait out the rain and we wouldn’t go back to the track to finish it. Pretty wild race
I'm more of a theorizest (if there is such a thing) I think part of the reason why some tracks are hit more then others may just be the timing of El Nino and the geography. I'll elaborate. When El Nino is on our side of the hemisphere, the panhandle of Texas gets almost flooded out. But when it isn't Rain in our area is it rarity. Traffic pollution may also be a factors but i'm not entirely sold on that one
@@DoglegMediaMatt here’s a really odd honorable mention. Spring Bristol 2014. The caution light was accidentally activated with a few laps to go. Coincidentally it started to rain so the race was just called.
On the weather side (meteorologist here)… Darlington gets a LOT of pop-up thunderstorms as does Daytona for the summer race. Pocono deals with storm systems tracking through the region that can cause trouble in the mountainous spots there. The Daytona 500 gets bad luck with cold fronts that stall in Central FL. I can go on and on lol
1987 Winston 500 was not shortened due to weather, but due to darkness. Bobby Allison’s crash into the catchfence caused a 2 1/2 hour red flag to repair the catchfence,
The reason for shortening Chicago was that the streets were to be reopened the next day. They could have run on Monday but the city wanted the streets back earlier.
By the way, Phoenix and rain are not uncommon. In the 1970s or 1980s, I don't have the exact season, the first race of the IndyCar series season was canceled due to flooding.
If I remember right. Although not for Cup didn't the Xfinity Series, then known as Busch Series have a delay or shortened race that ended at night due to snow during the day?
@@DoglegMediaMatt I found it. It's the 2006 Sharpie Mini 300, it wasn't shortened, only had a 80 minute red flag session for snow during the early stage of the race. It still ran the full 300 laps.
Technically Almirola would have 2 weather shorted wins bc they shortned the new Hampshire race in 21 due to darkness after a rain shower early in the event
You should do a follow up video with how many tracks/how many times have had their races delayed to the next day and which drivers benefitted the most from those races Example: Monday MTJ 😂
its wild to think how aric's first and last victories came in shortened races. one by rain, the other due to light
8:01 Joey Loganos win at New Hampshire in 2009 also broke a record in the cup series with the youngest winner at 19 years old, one month and four days.
Great addition! Thanks a ton!
The fact that Dover hasn’t gotten a shortened race is crazy. Especially since we haven’t gotten a full Sunday race in the next gen car
The first NASCAR race i was able to go to was Portland 2022 and it rained all day so im pretty grateful for the rain package and that NASCAR decided to come back.
That’s awesome! I’d love to catch a race there someday!
Riverside International Raceway 1983 Bill Elliott winning his first win will always be my favorite rain short and race keep up the good work have a good one and God bless
Thanks a ton! You do the same!
Technically that race wasn't shortened by the rain, but 13 of the 119 laps were under caution from rain, including the last two.

Honorable mention although not shortened but the 2018 spring martinsville race

Interesting theory!
I wonder if or when there is/will be a snow out. Yes, snow has interrupted or postponed but not shortened to my knowledge.
Yeah I don’t believe so either, at least not since 1972 from my research!
@@DoglegMediaMatt here’s a really odd honorable mention. Spring Bristol 2014. The caution light was accidentally activated with a few laps to go. Coincidentally it started to rain so the race was just called.
@Whathandleisavailable oh yeah! I remember that vaguely!
Bristol once had an Xfinity race delayed but not shortened by snow.
How about the 1998 Daytona summer race, which was postponed due to wildfire? Should be mentioned next time. And was won by surprise, Jeff Gordon.

This is the comment I needed!
Very interesting content lately. Really thinking outside the box, and that is so respectable. As always, great stuff, killer voice.
Appreciate this a ton! I definitely thought it was an interesting change of pace!
dover never being rain shorted is the biggest suprise, i swear in 2018 or something they would have a rain shorted race
It is surprising isn’t it!
@@DoglegMediaMatt yeah it feels like they have a rain out every weekend there
1987 Winston 500 was not shortened due to weather, but due to darkness. Bobby Allison’s crash into the catchfence caused a 2 1/2 hour red flag to repair the catchfence,
Yeah I mentioned the darkness part, I looped it in as a race to be prematurely ended
The reason for shortening Chicago was that the streets were to be reopened the next day. They could have run on Monday but the city wanted the streets back earlier.
Thanks for the info!
and NASCAR would have had to pay a massive-ass fine to even run it Monday.....
I guess you could say that the drivers in these situations were a bit… under the weather.
PUNNY! 😂
Except for the winners as it clearly didn't rain on their parade
@@metallife365they were all doing their rain dances 😂

still a new track but gateway has zero rainouts/postponements.
That’s very true as well, they came close this year!
It was really nice to see SVG win at Chicago. I knew he was gonna be pretty tough to beat, but didn’t think he was gonna win
Yeah it was certainly a surprise, and I’m glad we will be seeing a lot more of him!
Not very surprising to an Aussie like me

richmond changed their logo again? crazy to think that Kyle Busch never won a rain shortened race tho
Yes…. Yes they did 😂
Chicago was shortened because of the city imposed curfew on the park
Michigan International Speedway had a rain shortened race in 2018 so it's 3rd
In all time not in modern era
12:16 sadly a fan would be killed in that race in 2012 when he was Struck by lighting in that storm.
Oh my Gosh, I didn’t know about that
The 2001 Dover race was moved to September 22 due to terrorist attacks of 9/11

Weird that Dover has never had a shortened race even though its had like a quarter of races in the previous like 15 year has had a washout
I know right? It just likes to mess with us
Mistake
Sonoma was rain shortened when she was known as Sears Point when i was a kid in 1994
I went back and looked, are you certain of that? Could it have been another year or series? I’m showing 1994 Sonoma went the distance

you forgot gateway and iowa in the zero and you forgot north wilksboro wherver it is.
Gateway is a miss by me, Iowa still hasn’t had a points race and NWB doesn’t currently have one, but great catch!
I feel odd putting SVG on this list, because lets be honest he was going to win regardless
I agree, but I feel like a lot of the guys on this list got shortened wins and would have probably won the show anyway!
Due to the not having enough light
Sonoma never rain because is in the desert
This is very true!
My favorite moment was Chase Elliott gapping the field by a second a lap during the deluge right before they threw the caution at COTA.
