    I originally had my Maverick ordered with the spray in liner but removed that because of constraint delays. I am really glad I did. I got this plastic liner and am a lot happier with it than a spray in for one major reason, sound. The back of the cab is the same steel as the front of the bed. That means anything rolling around in the bed that hits the front wall is VERY loud in the cab. The plastic liner acts like a sound insulating barrier. It isn't as quiet as a body on frame truck because of the air space between the bed and cab but the plastic liner does help with the noise. This liner provides a very small air space between the bed wall and the plastic. That cuts down on the noise. I doubt a spray in liner would do that.

    Had you considered removing the storage boxes and mounting them over-lapping the bedliner? I am wanting to attempt to do this. I watched your video to help guide me on removing the bedliner so i can attempt the task. I feel that it would give a more handsome professional loo.

    It looks like you reused the washered screws that you removed from the tailgate to install the liner. The installation kit comes with 8 new screws that don’t have washers on them. The screws will recess into the spacers so that the head is not sticking out.

    Thank you for a great, useful detailed video!! Just started installing mine. Ford didn’t send instructions and I waded through the website link to no avail 🙁. Ended up using your video as the instruction guide! Thanks again! Great drop in liner.

    We had the drop in liner installed from the factory in our new Maverick . For some reason the self sticking tape applied to the head of the liner isnt holding , after awhile the liner pulls loose and buckles . Ford has yet to come up with an answer to the problem and seems to be avoiding the issue .

    Excellent video. I would also recommend before installing, is to put one or two heavy coats of wax on the bed, the three walls, and tailgate. Without a tonneau cover the bed will get water underneath the liner (and even with a cover, no tonneau cover is water-tight and water will find a way in), so the wax will really help protect them from future rust.

      Perhaps. Except dont wax the portion where the adhesive strip is or it wont stick ;)

    I'm picking up my Maverick TODAY and ordered the liner from the factory. There are no cutouts for the storage cubbies however. If I remove the side panels will the cubbies even be there or did the factory delete them?

    I may try to reassemble the cabbie holes frames as I have a cubby hole door storage bin on one side. Is this possible?

    Great iinfo and well done. Are there any obstacles with installing a tonneau cover with the DIBL like having to drill more holes?

    • @TDTVGarage
      @TDTVGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There is no effect on installation of tonneau covers because the DIBL is fully under the rail caps.

    Looks like a job to do.. I'm concerned about water/moisture getting between the liner and the paint especially on the floor section. Do you think the liner could eventually rub on the paint off and expose bare metal causing rust?
    Why did you like this better than the spray in? Still deciding what's best for my use.

    • @TDTVGarage
      @TDTVGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In Arizona where we are, moisture is never a concern. For our priorities, the drop in bedliner was more advantageous because it is a thick layer of independent plastic between rough and abrasive objects and the metal. Spray-in liners allow bricks or heavy materials to scrape and dent the metal, where a drop-in bedliner provides a bit more protection. It's all about how you plan to use it as to which one makes the most sense.

    Great informative video thank you Sam. Have you tried to install a hard tri fold bed cover in conjunction with the drop in bed liner? I did the Ford drop in bedliner in my 2023 Maverick Hybrid and would like to do a hard cover , but it seems there may be an issue in doing that with the now existing drop in bed liner? Any thoughts?

    • @TDTVGarage
      @TDTVGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No issues or conflicts as the mating surfaces don't affect one another.

    I am a big fan of the drop in liners - do not like spray in

  • @caddmann
    @caddmann 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Good info.
    Helped me to decide to go with the spray in liner..
    I realize you are in Arizona so it id dry out there so moisture between the liner and the bed won't be an issue.
    Since the liner has seams there stands a very good chance that dirt and debris will get stuck under the liner. As the bed moves it will "grind" into the paint plus moisture will most likely cause rust.
    To reduce this it helps to wax the bed or better yet use some type of clear bra in the bed area.

      I had a 2005 Toyota Tundra (rust recall model) that I bought brand new in '05 and just sold last year. It had a drop in liner and we lived in Rochester NY and Erie PA with it. Both areas are heavy salt areas with a lot of snow and rain so nothing stays dry. When I sold the truck, the bed was solid as a rock with no rust. The frame..... well that's another story! I understand your concern but after my experience with the Tundra that was a rust magnet, I didn't hesitate at all getting this for my Maverick. I do have a trifold cover on the bed to minimize moisture in there so hopefully I will be in good shape.

    • @caddmann

      @@opiegonebad58 I understand about the weather stuff, for I live in northern New England.
      I have owned 4 pickup trucks in the past close to 40 years all with bedliners. I am going to assume this that your bed liner was a 2 peice setup one for the tailgate and one for the bed itself, same as what I had. One the bed rusted thru where I had to replace floor panels. One where I had surface rust that needed sanding and a tone of rust reformer and all four with one degree or another of scuffed up beds.
      My issue with the Maverick is that the bed itself has 4 peices instead of just the one. Having 5 seams and depending on the configuration multiple cutouts where debris can get in.

    Look carefully at the factory original bed floor in the Maverick...There are a series of small holes at the cab end of each groove, I only noticed this when I got my new Maverick and was looking at the bed. Since the truck rides higher in the back these are drain holes to direct any water in the bed grooves out the bottom of the truck onto the street. So, any bedliner you install, you should drill corresponding holes so your cargo isn't sitting in puddles any time it rains. I'm really surprised the factory bedliner doesn't have this feature. Also, if using a spray in liner, I'll bet those drain holes are clogged....So you should use an awl or other sharp object and clear those drain holes ASAP!

    • @TDTVGarage
      @TDTVGarage  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The factory actually clears the holes then they do spray-in bedliners, this is why initial production back in 2021 got recalls for fuel tank issues. The outside vendor was drilling them out too enthusiastically and hitting the gas tank. The hard drop in bedliner has a seam at the front edge where water can seep through, so holes really not necessary.

    In salt country install the adhesive strips firstly, then purchase a spray can of fluid film and lightly coat the bed floor. You will be happy you did.

    Although the video was informative. It doesn't cover everything. I had asked a question about the 12 volt accessory ports on either side of the bed panels. And the response was basically so If you want them cut them out yourself. These 2 ports are very important to anyone wanting to modify their lighting system in the bed or even add 12 volt sockets to make the back more versatile. By not showing people the option of cutting those holes before installing the linings disappoints me. Most do it yourselfers would want to see something in your presentation. So for me not a great video
