One detail everyone overlooked - Character take away their finger from the trigger when they are not firing (trigger discipline)

Yeah, according to Oskar Wetterbrandt (at the time when he was an animator for DICE) the system is done procedurally and it is really greatly executed, I just love it.

2042 is a blessing when it comes to gun models. There are some minor alterations like manufacturer names like UA and the names (which are much better than what COD does), but the models are thankfully faithful to the real life counterparts, and is a sight for sore eyes after seeing Call of Duty butchering them (with the exception of the DP-12 shotgun - NVK-S22)
I'll give them credit though for not ignoring the spare magazine on the MP28 (Flux Defense MP17) and the DSR-1 rifle, many games always skip this reserve magazine
Though the animations are more of a Bad Company style which uses a third person model, and the LMGs with top covers are poorly portrayed sadly. Imagine if the animations were done with first person models...

Seems NuDICE has been *_busy._* Not only did they add a _bunch_ of new weapons, they also made the sound design _much_ beefier compared to where it was at launch, which I can only give them props for.
Did the animations get updated at some point? The launch weapons appear to have way less jerkiness at least to me.. I'd love a side by side comparison
I think some of the Portal weapons definitely did, not sure about the 2042 "era" guns
Oskar left somewhere during pre-season. The guy replaced him is well… inconsistent in quality.
Nothing has changed really. Most of the new Portal guns that got added before it was abandoned reused the base animations

Man i hope they get rid of the tacticool reload bs in the future installment. Its getting pretty stale and i actually loved 3's reload animation

@@VValkyr dude even BFV's reload animations looked more natural than this. Sure there's some good ones in 2042, but again the majority of them is still almost looking like your typical "angry fps protagonist".

I think its funny how in BF2042 all the pistols are weird, gimmicky pistols, no military would actually use, excluding the G57 lol
Yeah, but thankfully they brought the MP443 Grach which would make sense for the Russian faction. Though I'm really salty about them not adding a non-Flux Defense SIG M17 (referred to as the M28 in the game's description)

AM40 reload feels like we are using sleight of hands in cod. It’s very quicker.
The time between inserting a new mag and pulling the charging handle for the AM40 is way too short
Yeah, the animation is too rushed because of it. However if you use the High Power extended magazine or the drum mag, it'll actually slow down in a sort of natural speed

Even though this is the title that put Battlefield franchise on it's last legs after the BFV controversy. They still held up better than CoD sequel-fest since 2021.

FGM-148 Javelin in COD: rockets fly high up first before hitting the target
Meanwhile Battlefield Games: just let the rocket fly a little then hit the target directly
Actually, the Javelin in 2042 works the same way as it was in BF3 and 4, as it allows both modes it was designed for IRL
If you tag a vehicle with SOFLAM, the one who fires the Javelin onto your tagged vehicle will actually enter top attack mode when fired. Otherwise it'll always enter direct attack mode.
They should really change the M44 to the Thick44
The M44 revolver is probably the most satisfying weapon I have ever used in a FPS.

Biggest thing i want Dice to improve is the visual recoil, it's never good in any BF games but this is the worse one so far, it's very minimal in this game and it make the guns feels kinda weak. Visual recoil plays a big part in making shooting the gun satisfying

My hot take here is that, as they are now, the reloads are better than the Modern Warfare reboots'. They have that snappiness but with a fluidity that MW's reloads don't have.
At least the contents of 2042 is not toxic like Call of Duty these days (truly frontline vibe, no any shitty The Boys or some PMCs wearing animal masks, highly cosmetic weapons and skins, etc... it just like a cosplay games or a makeup games for girls on Y8)

2042 has it's problems, but I do have to commend their efforts to make the cosmetic options actually fit the aesthetic. Considering the backlash to some of the more out of place cosmetic options at the beginning of the game's launch, it's only smart to play it safer.
I mean, there are some skins with colorful palettes and even less than serious designs. But they usually don't look ridiculous and/or are not popular with players. Like, there is a formal attire you can buy or skins with bunch of skulls painted on them

I hate that cowboy hat for Mackey. But however dice has learned their mistakes about cosmetics now. Now they are giving generic soldier cosmetics only. That’s good.

If the old dev team is still present, then there will be 80 guns by now in 2042.
