One of my favorite things about this game is that you can skip straight to Day 3 from the very start of the game by accessing Dylan's FLST using a static password. This was something I helped to discover and it actually used to softlock you if you didn't complete Case 1 to unlock Teentopia, though you could quickly do that while waiting to be kicked out. Jay Tholen saw this, thought the skip was really cool and instead just fixed the missing Teentopia flag.
how to accidentally get fired on your first day: find your bosses pirated music stash
I actually went to the same school as jay! I noticed a lot of the headband Id were located in Polk county, Fl and messaged him on discord about it. We discovered we both attended the same high school!
Damn watching Thor play this game for a few hours barely using the zones, not using bookmarks and doing pretty good was WILD
Dude same haha
I was yelling on the inside for him to use the homepage lmaoo
I played this years ago when it came out. The Chowder Man is always what stuck with me the most, trying so desperately to recapture his glory days, even showing signs of that same desperation in the late 80’s/early 90’s. And that chase for rekindled fame killed a friend and cost his leg. His goofy ass was also so damn tragic.
The one that gets me is probably the paralyzed furniture salesman who makes wizard art online to escape from his life and allows him to be someone else, in a place where people can appreciate his personal interests. (Plus, Winter Haven is a "relatively" short drive away. Never been there, but I'm familiar with it because it's in Polk County and I'm a bit of a Sheriff Grady Judd fan.) On that note, I looked up 1007 N Church Ave in Mulberry (the address for the "RR Leather" place that was his first Hypnospace client) and it's a *real address,* though it's an empty lot IRL - but still.
That, and the Biker with the memorial page to his wife that's pretty goofy in presentation, but it's still sweet, sincere and you can tell was made as best as his limited skills and resources would allow.
There's something very beautiful and very *HUMANIZING* about this game, and I love it for that.
"We haven't found anything that breaks the law" *closes axxelerator popup* BWLLLLLLLL
Hynospace outlaw has got to be one of my favorite games of all time, can't wait for dreamsettler to come out so I can experience it all over again
true
It's so different from everything else, so connected to when I was a kid, so innovative and yet gets so many things right on the first try that it simply has to be in my top ten of all time somewhere
Didn't realize there was another one coming out. Thank you for this euphoric information.
Amazing news for me as well
OMG. Just looked it up - I didn't realise they were making another game like this. Hell yes!
This feels like Thor's answer to 'Astrophysicist plays Outer Wilds'
That's a deep cut and I think the fact that I immediately understood what you mean is scary, I should go outside.
What about "Engineer plays Poly Bridge"? ;)
or "City Planner plays Cities: Skylines"
If you find enough evidence on Zane, you actually ban him, preventing him from dying in the Mindcrash. This is canon, since Slayers X was started by him around the mindcrash, then touched up and packaged and released in modern day.
What more evidence is there? Thought it was just the early case
@@AHoardyBoi I just checked the wiki, apparently he made a page about Tiff on Got Game or Way Lame after she called out his harassment. If you report that, he gets banned.
screw that dude telling you to search re3koning's page early, i don't get people joining just to backseat and post spoilers, you had seen the name on the freelands but you had no reason to go after it until after you did some more stuff
edit: that also made you sequence break and skip M1nx, god dammit
POV: you get lost in the Wayback Machine for 8 hours
I've never seen someone get so badly infected by the Butts virus and it had me crying.
This is one of my favourite games, theyre working on a sequel for this and they have another game currently out "made by Zane" from this game! Its a really good homage to doom style shooters called Slayers X
Slayers x was actually pretty dope too. Nailed the aesthetic of someone making a shitty 90s style doom clone while also having some solid gameplay.
Holy shit, there's gonna be a sequel?
All I wanted was more. This is great news.
Played it before HsO and was so confused
@@deathscreton Yeah! DreamSettler, which looks to be taking the concept of internet investigation even further, this time taking inspiration from the early 00s internet.
I saw Civvie 11 play that, no wonder he seemed so familiar.
i keep seeing him scroll past the dumpster, and i'm like thats the secret page, look for that
Thor the fact that you went like the whole game without once going into safe mode to decrypt those broken pages is amazing lol btw this game got a new update in march '24 and you can actually save a few of the users by getting them banned like you did with sherri and it changes the y2k news cinematic
Whoaaaaa wild.

3:30:00 Oh yea, i remember wiggling the mouse. Old Windows versions had a "bug" in them and most stuff was event driven. For performance reasons it put programs into sleep or background to let other programs do their things, this caused slowdowns related to I/O, and moving your mouse over the program caused user input that woke the program up immediately to handle the I/O rather then waiting for the sleep to finish. Moving the mouse could speed things up as much as 4 times. Im guessing the game is simulating that.
This is amusing, since older OSs would generate interrupts which might slow the computer when sending frivolous inputs.
I knew I wasn't crazy!
It di almopst nothiung, but for certain stuff like when it was supposed to give you visual feedback, like drawiung highlights over forms, wiggling your cursor over the stuff made it update the screen sooner.
@@Washeek moving the mouse around increases CPU usage. Simply moving the mouse around literally wastes energy.
@@GeorgeTsiros Nowadays, definitely. Win 95, 98? I wouldn't be so sure. Hence the op comment.
@@Washeek It has been true for ever, for as long as Windows had the GetMessage/TranslateMessage/DispatchMessage loop.
If you press a key, a window will receive a wm_keydown, maybe a wm_char and then a wm_keyup. Add in a wm_syskeydown/up pair if it was alt, ctl or whatevs.
If you move the mouse around, OS sends a SHITTON of messages to every program, over which your mouse cursor happens to go over. Funny thing, remember that 1000 Hz polling rate mouses now are quite popular.
So just for moving the window around, you get literally thousands of messages.
Go ahead, open up task manager, put it to the side, maximize firefox and do circles with your mouse _inside_ firefox. At least on my machine, I get 6% CPU usage just from that, with a reported 4.6 GHz clock. "That's not that high" you might think, sure, yeah, until you remember that it's a 5950x. The equivalent of an entire core is pegged _by moving the fucking mouse around_
Stop moving the mouse, lift your hand off the mouse and you notice that cpu usage drops to _zero_ .
Additional fun fact, this youtube video playing, makes the cpu usage go to 2%. At 4.0 GHz.
Like I said, simply moving the mouse around in circles literally wastes energy.
Dude I was so sad seeing eh people Tim thought he killed. Cause one of them was Tiffany and so he had to live for 20 years thinking he killed his friend.
i thought Tim knew his "virus" was harmless
Dude lived for 20 years thinking he killed his crush
The story of this game got wild in a way I absolutely was not expecting
This had been a multi-day watch for me so if Thor realised it later in the video then of course this comment is mute.
Its really interesting watching Thor have a mix of calling certain plot points perfectly, and then Thor sometimes making a mistake but sticking by it, like saying Tim couldnt code himself and M1nx did all the coding for him, and then Thor saying that he got Dylan fired by exposing his flist page, which never happened, and then Thor used this thing that didnt happen as a basis for his theory that Dylan on purpose tried to kill Thor with by hacking him as revenge for something that didnt happen.
Still very fun watch
Hearing him say Dylan got fired made me rewind to check I wasn't crazy 😂
It’s a little sad he never figured out m1nx, but at least he had fun!
Roddy Wall's bio page state he was born in Bakersfield and lives in Frisco, and that's the most Bakersfield-ass thing to say. You call San Francisco anything but The City or San Francisco and the locals will either cringe or make Metal Gear guard alert noises.
Did Thor ever hit the home button and use the space browsers?
Not enough people know about this game. Thanks for playing it.
TIMECUBE IS GONE NOW! Gene Gray will soon live on only in our hearts. :
And the WayBack Machine, but who knows how long the Internet Archive is going to last at this rate...
My buddy and I talk about missing the wild west of the internet. The OG internet was true freedom, if you didn't like it you moved on to a place you did like. Forums were a beautiful place.
These are the type of games that a great streamer like yourself really can help show how beautiful they are. This was hilarious. “ I don’t wanna check my enforcer mail I’m busy putting kids in jail “ 💀. Happy belated 🎉🎉
the homestuck reference gave me whiplash at 4:08:19
This is such a thor game
🤔
After I played Outer Wilds, I pushed my brother to play it because of my love for it and he streamed it for me. He then pushed me to play this game and I streamed playing it for him and yea. I definitely didn't forsee how deep this game was going to be. Though I also grew up with 90s internet so it also had the nostalgia factor as well. lol
I tried to play this game a few months back and hardly got past busting people for gumshoe and harassment, i never would have made it to the end of the game, insane deduction skills my man
TH-cam, where you can watch a hacker play a videogame about being the cyber police trying to catch a hacker
Now "GRANNY CREAM'S HOT BUTTER ICE CREAM" is stuck in my head
Love the heck out of Hypnospace. It's such a bizarre and unique experience, gives me a lot of Internet nostalgia. Looking forward to the sequel!
Very interesting hearing Thor talk to chat about the audio delay being on Twitch's end because both the game and Thor's audio is delayed, meanwhile on this very video only the game is a second delayed(Currently at 5 hours 17 minutes intot he stream) while Thor clapping his hands is perfectly in time.
Since there seems to have been a lot of chatters who had and also didnt have the delay I wonder if Twitch also had issues at the same time, muddying the waters and making it harder to find out that there was a problem?
was cool to get jumpscared by hotdad. Squishers are so much fun
That darn chowder man song was stuck in my head all day.
You should check out "Hot Dad - Christmas Pain in Christmas Town"
Really great lets play, first video of yours ive watched aside from a few shorts, really entertaining!
Hypnospace is my favorite game of all-time and I'm so glad to have found this long play via your Shorts. Loving the content
Thor trying to legitimately trouble shoot the year 2000 update is so funny to me
Man the 'Ishkur's Guide' reference filled me with joy.
Beefbrain shield pro feels like downloading more RAM
That's pretty neat, I noticed the unique color pallette of Heartbound in your clips but I figured it was just artistic choice. Cool that it has a purpose in addition to looking good!
I'm just commenting to mention that the audio/video in this and a few of your other long play videos is a bit lagged. As in the video comes in after the audio. But its weird because it seems that your voice and your face are in sync, the game and the game audio are not.
Anyway, love your stream and this game seems cool!
I had no idea Hot Dad did music for this game!! He has an unmistakable style
Shout-out Hot Dad fr
The dancing baby ref with the pizza is my favorite
I don’t think I would ever play this game but it was great watching you play this.. top tier. 👍🏼👍🏼
The SquisherZ bible thumping page is a priceless parallel to the jesus freak Pokemon scare back when Pokemon was huge when I was little. Back then, the Christian majorities found any excuse to demonize trends. As much societal damage all the counterculture of the early 70's onward caused, I still smirk when I think of how KISS was considered blasphemy, when nowadays it's very tame compared to the degeneracy the 80's and 90's introduced to youth culture.
As a 40 year old, i was old enough to see the rise of angelfire and i had MANY of those websites.
It's like a windows97 fever dream and i love it.

Great stream! This is one of my all time favorite games, and whenever I have the time I like to watch streamers i know and don't play this, to see how they go through things, the game being as open ended as it is. It's very interesting how you were one of the only ones I've watched who accurately found out that Zane and Corey were faking their girlfriends by their headset IDs without getting prompted by chat, that you figured out the burger compression format puzzle without, again, prodding by chat or even the note you find about it, and even got to have the 3y3 by November, but you also took the path of least resistance for the True Tranquility people and the FLIST password, and didn't get to go to the M1NX forums, but you still found the r3ckoning files without doing so. Very interesting playthrough!
Game is like a fever dream
"(the weird part of youtube) is the only thing I can find that feels like the old internet"
1:02:40
That's painfully true.
I really wish I had a moral compass like you growing up. But glad I got you now.
Whew! ButtsDisease had me rolling!
The music near the end of the stream about shaving, the musical part before the singing sounds so much like the old UFC intro music.
First time i saw HYPII appear, I grabbed him and threw him in the bin because I thought he was a virus XD
Happy birthday!
The internet used to look like that (somewhat) in the 90s. Brings back memories.
This game was already tripping me out and then I realized we have the same birthday. Incredibly uncanny.
Great timing for Professor Helper: (2:23:28)
That voice crack got me tooo when talkin bout the ol internet
My family didn't have the internet until MUCH later in life, so I *mostly* missed out on this age of the internet, sadly. However, OHHHH MAN, that angelic hamster on the desktop really took me back to being a very small kid and having Sheep on our Win98 desktop, taken from some floppy disk that probably one of my older siblings got from God knows where. And the different audio players also reminded me of using some weird, mostly static 3D "music visualizer" thing while listening to "I'm Blue (Da Ba Dee Da Ba Di)".
This is such a strange game, because I think you really had to have lived during a very specific period in life for it to really hit you the way it wants to, and you love it because of how it makes you feel. I can't imagine what a person who's younger than, say, 20 would think about it, except feel like it's a sh!tpost.
Sad he never opened m1nx's page :(
Such a trippy but fun game! The long plays are super great as background noise! Wonder if there will be an Outer Wilds one 👀
"that's how you used to do drop shadows" man I'm lazy I still do that on like obs and photoshop
You probably get this alot, but your voice is fucking fantastic ! I love the rich deep tones
First time I heard it I thought "this guy has THE voice for radio."

Love this game, need to play it again been a few years so I'm sure there's been some content updates
Having seen this now and played this game, I wonder if Thor would like Hacknet?
I was born in 2007 but my only experience with this was the big ass white computer with the white kbm. It was my great grandma's and we could only play solitaire, spider and minesweeper cause we didn't have the internet till 2013 or 2014.
It was fun and I loved waving my hand in front of the big tv cause it created a weird trail effect.
I loved those times cause it was simple, fun and I never thought of trying to look good for girls that wouldn't ever look at me.
After 3 hours “We got Trouble” has gotten creepy.
watched this over the course of a week. Torrented the game to try and now purchased
thank you :)
@@jaytholen934 thank you for making the game! Hella fun. Any chance of a sequel or something similar?
@@mikeydubbs709 Dreamsettler is a spiritual sequel coming soon!
6:23:10 Thor wielded the hammer of InJustice and became a villain.
It seems like you landed into a bug at 6:37:20 ? Dylan's page of pirated music last time i checked becomes un flaggable and the links to the music won't violate anything after the y2k update. thats at least what happened for others and my playthroughs years back, so maybe they changed it?
Certainly interesting watching another persons take/playthrough of this game, more so when its mostly the streamer doing/finding things out with some if any hints.
Cool game; By the way, if those reading this haven't played it yet, or just don't know this, scroll down a tad further to see something you might not know. Be aware this is a spoiler although if you fully watched the video, uh, then this isn't spoiling much.
Bit further.
Bit further still.
This should be enough.
You can save Zane. See, he's got a few flags on his account, and you can get him banned for like a month or so before the crash, making it where he's not online during Outlaw's beta run that causes the mind-crash. I forget the exact way you get this done, but it is possible. It even changes the ending a bit. Edit: It's his "got game or get lame page. You have to have flagged him before, otherwise he gets a warning, and the chance to save him is on New Years Eve. BurningRubber aka Carl can be saved as well by Gumshoe reports on November 26.
I could see the exact second your brain registered the Faith No More parody
3:02:58 for that hidden text, couldn't you just use that accessibility program to read the text in the background for you?
You mentioned that you like investigative games, have you seen 2000:1: A Space Felony? If you haven't, you play an investigator on a space station interrogating an AI about the astronauts it's killed
damn i wish i discovered you Pre Shorts Explosion, but better late than Never
Am I tripping or is the audio really desynced? Like, it plays about half a second before it‘s supposed to? But also only the game audio, Thor himself is completely insync.
This is my favourite game :)
"I don't have that kind of money, I've been buying stupid stickers on the Internet!" - Thor
such a whale for 90's Internet
You should check out the mods they have for the game... It's pretty cool to see what people have made for it just for fun
Too bad you didn't get into m1nx. There's some interesting stuff there.

i just realized this whole game takes place on the 5th of Nov. Remember remember the 5th of november
I know you have 1.6m subscribers but I have never seen you before Spiff told me I need to come here and love you. Now, I love you.
I didn't know Thor existed until Simpleflips had a couple shorts involving him, lol. Thor has some good connections.
not joking 11/05/1999 is my birthday what a wild coincidence lmao
i like listening to thor speak
I know I am late to this video but seeing the BUTTSbut virus made be wish I had thought of it. In the 90s a friend and I used BASIC to code a word processor that would erase the entire document once the third z was used but Buttsbut McButts would have been better!
If Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Revenge of the Slayer is anything to go by, Zane... Never really matures... He is a proud father though!
Eviltown, FL 😂 so he’s from Miami?
I was yelling in my head: THE COPY-WRITTEN SEEPAGE image.

Was I the only one frustrated with how messy Thor's desktop is in the game?!!! XDDD
Chowder Man is Hot Dad and he's done a lot of catchy music :D can't recommend checking out his bandcamp. he's done music for internet comment etiquette with erik too. erik's channel is one of my favs on youtube.
