I made this with velvet yarn and it's so stinking cute!!! I also tucked all of my tails in while I stitched the top and bottom together. SO fast! Loved it

I’ve been crocheting for a week and managed to make this cute stingray in mint green. The hardest part for me is R1 and R2. I find it so fiddly, I’ve undone my yarn so many times, incredibly frustrating. Thank you for this video tutorial, the end result is very cute
Do not give up this hobby is so much fun, for the parts you have difficulty with, go slow, it is normal at first to get annoyed but it's so worth while when you finish the project, good luck and welcome to the AMAZING WORLD OF CROCHET
Only crocheted once. Will do this now. Will give update. See you guys in 2 weeks 😂 for that’s how long it will take me to follow along this video to my crotcheting skills
This was in fact actually a quick and super mega-easy pattern, though I would consider myself an intermediate crocheter, I would say this was very beginner-friendly! I love it!
Thank you so much! I started rocheting 4 days ago, learning all the stitches, etc. This is one of the first amigurumi tutorials that Icould atctually do, its very easy. I will tell you the results when im done!
This pattern is so cute! I was searching the internet for a stingray pattern, and I found this!! It’s so perfect and adorable, I think i just found my new crochet hyper fixation.
This might be quite a long time ago, but just curious: how did your stingray came out? Would it change a lot to use such a light weight yarn? (I'm planning to make one myself soon ♡)
I did this pattern with super chunky plush yarn as a present for my friend who loves stingrays!! Love it!! Definitely going to pass this on to the crochet club I’m in :)
What size crochet hook did you use with the super chunky yarn? I bought Hobby Lobby’s Eternal Bliss and it is impossible to get the 8 mm hook into it to crochet. TIA
I never had so much fun crocheting a stuffed animal before! It was so easy, fast and turned out super adorable- thank you fo much for sharing this pattern!❤
same! I've recently taught myself the "normal" way in case it impacts some more unique stitches, but I still hold my yarn tension the way I always have. my chains are still the under version instead of yarn over.
I have crocheted for 45 years and have never heard of anyone turning after a chain row. Other than that your pattern is easy peasy to follow and turned out as cute as can be!!
This video is so easy and clear and i LOVE IT. Im using it for the third time to make a baby stingray for my baby cousin who might be born today! HE WAS BORN YESTERDAY ❤❤
Fell in love with your Ruby the Ray pattern and did a trial run with a mini first - my tiny one is called Ray - Ray Parker Jr (those of you who know Ghostbusters will know who that is). I'm going to make a rainbow family to go in the tummy of Ruby the Ray for my great-niece - who isn't even born yet! So thrilled to see your easy tutorials as I am a novice!
So I just started to learn crocheting (about 5 days ago) and I am almost done with my ray. I made my ray a big bigger (eyeballed the rows) and used felt yarn. To crochet both sides together i had to switch from an 8 mm hook to a smaller version (i used 3 mm cause thats the obly other one I have but 5mm should be enough). But your video was soooo helpful, thanks to you I can proudly say that I can crochet the basics (:
Loved this! I used regular 4 worsted acrylic yarn and a 4.5 mm hook, and it worked up perfectly. I love the soft ones but that's a more expensive yarn. I'd share a pic of my finished project but TH-cam doesn't allow.
This came out adorable! Only my 3rd project ever. And it’s not without flaws, but it’s still cute. My grandson is obsessed with sting rays and will love it! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing! This was incredibly easy to follow, love the written instruction on screen and pace of the video. I now have a little ray named Jerry! ❤
It was such a fun crocheting! It was easy and quick and the finish product is so much cute and looking great. I didn't have any safety eyes, so I did upside down "V" like eyes - it looks like it have to be there. Love it, thanks!❤️
I love this design! I used a different type and size yarn and hook because it's all I had and it's so teeny, fits in the palm of my hand! I finished it and then had an idea, it worked! if you do the exact same steps as you do to make the tail on each corner of the head but only chain 3 it becomes a Manta Ray! Now I've got ideas on how to change a few parts of the pattern on the wings and or nose I think I could make it look like a southern ray, a cownose ray, and a spotted eagle ray hehe I love the original design as a cute sort of unspecified species of ray and Im going to be making a ton more in pretty colors but I think I'm also going to test my alterations with the colors the rays are in real life. my first attempt at making one of these lil fellas was a lil crooked but my second attempt I feel confident about giving as a late Christmas gift :D I even added lil ears like a sea slug because I forgot that manta rays nor sting rays don't have that feature and thought it would look cute and it does!
It did not look like, in the beginning of my work, that would be very nice but it turned out beautiful and I just love it. Thank you! I will make it again. ♥
So so cute! I made one following the pattern super quickly but I want to make one slightly bigger. Will using an 8mm crochet hook increase the size of the project? Thanks for uploading such helpful tutorials for these lovely little projects! x
Could you tell me how to make a bigger one? Should I just do a few more stitches per row, but not more increases? I tried it on my own but it didn't work out. I think it's really cute ❤
That's a good question! I have a pattern for a bigger ray here: www.theresascrochetshop.com/products/raymond-ray-amigurumi-crochet-pattern But the basic concept to make a bigger ray would be to continue the pattern after R7, with an increase at the beginning and the end of each row until you are happy with the size. :) Let me know if you have other questions!

I'm a beginner and it took me 5hrs to make with 3.5mm hook and non bulky yarn , it came out so cuute but i'm not yet good at weaving the ends so some spots are a bit messy . I'll make this again with plush yarn
Quick reply to this : As i was sewing on the smile, I thought it was a bit hard to do. I had to watch the video multiple times before I got it. I finished now and I LOVE IT!
I bought Hobby Lobby’s Jumbo 7 weight Eternal Bliss yarn as it had the colors my son wanted me to use to make these for his son. I can hardly get an 8 mm hook into this yarn? Suggestions for jumbo yarn to use? The Eternal Bliss actually calls for a “u” crochet hook. TIA.
What I do to make it bigger is get chunkier yarn usually (paired with a bigger needle too). When working with my chunkiest yarn and I still want it bigger, I either double the number of each row and/or use a double or triple crochet per row instead of a single crochet. I tried the double rowing for this pattern and it worked out nicely but still not as big as I want it to be so I might increase stitch size per row as well. ☺️ Hope this helps!
OMG that is adorable! And so simple to do! I did have to transcribe this to a word document because I don't like to be constantly at a computer while I crochet, but the time it took was worth it and I really enjoyed being able to see the work being done. I love the added visual instruction. Thank you so much for this video! ❤
This is so sweet! I saw the video on Facebook reels and just knew I had to make him. Thank you for sharing, I shall love him until my children see it lol 😆 thank you
This was so wonderful! I’ve been wanting to do more projects with this type of yarn, and this helped give me more practice and confidence. Thank you so much, these turned out great and super fast (for me lol!) I made 3 at one time. ❤
here is the written pattern BODY R1: ch 4, sc in first stitch closest to hook, inc in next stitch, 1 sc (total 4) R2: ch 1, turn, 4 inc (total 8) R3: ch 1, turn, inc, 6 sc, inc (total 10) R4: ch 1, turn, inc, 8 sc, inc (total 12) R5: ch 1, turn, inc, 10 sc, inc (total 14) R6: ch 1, turn, inc, 12 sc, inc (total 16) R7: ch 1, turn, inc, 14 sc, inc, (total 18) R8: ch 1, turn, 18 sc (total 18) repeat round Fassen off your yarn (leave a little extra to use later) HEAD R9: 6 sc in between stitch 6-13 of the body. (watch video for guidance: 6:18 min) R10: ch 1, turn, 6 sc (total 6) Don't fasten off Insert 12 mm safety eyes (in between R9 & R10, 3 stitches apart) To attach the body pieces together sc around but dont forget to stuff in the middle and weave in yarn ends. TAIL R1: Slst in the stitch you want the tail to be coming from and ch 9 R2: slst in all 8 chains and fasten off by slst into the sc on body then weave in. DETAILS Add spots to the body if you want (:
Thank you. It ia difficult to sc at side. But I stick it. And add 3 sc in one hole on the two corner of its wings so my sc can turn around and stitches all sides.
I made one along to this video! First time I felt confident I could do it. Although the bottom side does not look nearly as good as yours it’s still pretty nice 🎉❤
Some notes after making one of these: you can add the tail during the closure process if you finish one side, chain 9 and slip stitch back and then continue the closure. You can also slip stitch across the 6 stitches at the top to begin the head in the 7th stitch instead of cutting and refastening your yarn. These 2 steps lead to less hassle and more stream lined process!
Is this pattern sutible for a 4.0mm hook and non bulky yarn
Yes! If you make this pattern as written with medium weight yarn and a 4mm hook, it will be 4 inches (10 cm) wide and 3.5 inches (9 cm) long.

I tried the double rowing for this pattern and it worked out nicely but still not as big as I want it to be so I might increase stitch size per row as well. ☺️ Hope this helps!
Love your tutorials. Just found your channel from a short on FB. 🎉
Such a cute pattern. Thank you. Good tutorial. Now I can make a lot of these for Random Acts of Kindness!
Thank you for sharing, I shall love him until my children see it lol 😆 thank you
Aww yay I'm so happy you like it! Thank YOU!
@@theresascrochetshop I did post on Instagram and tried to tag you but not sure if I was successful, don't really know my way around Instagram 😂
Thank you for this tutorial, I made my stingray and she's so cute!❤❤
This was so wonderful! I’ve been wanting to do more projects with this type of yarn, and this helped give me more practice and confidence. Thank you so much, these turned out great and super fast (for me lol!) I made 3 at one time. ❤

Thanks i do better with written patterns im almost done with mine i just have to make another body!
I made one and it is so cute. Thank you for this tutorial!
Thank you. It ia difficult to sc at side. But I stick it. And add 3 sc in one hole on the two corner of its wings so my sc can turn around and stitches all sides.
Thanks for your comment! I'm glad it worked out for you! :)
I made one along to this video! First time I felt confident I could do it. Although the bottom side does not look nearly as good as yours it’s still pretty nice 🎉❤
Yay! Good for you! And it will get easier each time. :)
