  • Well folks I have done it again… A pretty big adventure stifled by camera issues! AKA I need to stop dunking my camera in the water! It doesn't like to run much after that! Regardless.. This was a fun little session on the upper Blue River! This is the sleeper stream in the area! It is oftentimes overshadowed by the much more frequented Big Green and even Castle Rock Creek. That first big brown we caught was reason enough to make my way back there very very soon! The Upper Blue seemed to be a fair mix of cold and warm water fisheries. I would have holes with trout but they were mostly filled with chub and suckers! I am not quite sure why this is but I will take those nuggets of info and use them in the future! Summer is here in full swing! Don’t be afraid of the bugs and sun! The fish are still biting!

When they go under like that, are they basically toast? If so, you took that debacle like a champ.

Starting off with a pig is either a curse or a beginning to a crazy outing. Can never tell until you get your line in the water. Is that some kinda of slam? Brown , sucker and a chub. Lol. keep the vids coming bro.

Right?! Haha I always get nervous when the first fish looks like that!! It would be the wimpiest slam on the market if it was haha

YOOOO! Lol I am dying at the clip of you acting a fool in the water. Nice little trip. However, piece of advice. Flies in the water, camera out :)

Did you check the temperature of the stream's water? I can not believe the DNR has not got "wild" brown trout in this stream and instead have hatchery rainbow trout. You are in Wisconsin? Someday I'll tell you how I started the wild brown trout in Timber Coulee which the hatchery uses now for their "wild" brood stock and they stock the wild brown trout across the State of Wisconsin.

No I did not! Yes the Blue River in Wisconsin, I just checked and there were fingerling rainbows stocked a few weeks back! Thats why they look so wild i guess!

I took a dive last week and lost everything that wasn't connected to me including my prescription bifocal polarized shades and go pro which I found after.

I fished the Maquoketa River in Iowa for many years. What catching chubs told me was there were big browns in there. I would cut off the tail of the chub and cast it in with no weight. Muskrats would eat the chubs and leave the tails and the browns would pick them up. It was their favorite meal.
