Dave Mustaine founder of Megadeth was also the lead guitar player for Metallica. He is still making music and touring. He also currently lives in Tennessee.

Megadeth is an American thrash metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1983 by vocalist/guitarist Dave Mustaine. Known for their technically complex guitar work and musicianship, Megadeth is one of the "big four" of American thrash metal along with Metallica, Anthrax, and Slayer, responsible for the genre's development and popularization. Their music features complex arrangements and fast rhythm sections, dual lead guitars, and lyrical themes of war, politics, religion, death, and personal relationships.
In 1985, Megadeth released their debut album, Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good!, on the independent record label Combat Records, to moderate success. It caught the attention of bigger labels, which led to Megadeth signing with Capitol Records. Their first major-label album, Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?, was released in 1986 and was a major hit with the underground metal scene. Band members' substance abuse issues and personal disputes had brought Megadeth negative publicity during the late 1980s. Nonetheless, the band went on to release a number of platinum-selling albums, including So Far, So Good... So What! (1988), Rust in Peace (1990), and Countdown to Extinction (1992). These albums, along with worldwide tours, brought them public recognition. Megadeth's most recent album, The Sick, the Dying... and the Dead!, was released in 2022.
Megadeth has undergone multiple lineup changes throughout its 41-year career, with Mustaine being the sole consistent member of the band. The band temporarily disbanded in 2002 when Mustaine suffered an arm injury and re-established in 2003 without longtime bassist David Ellefson, who had taken legal action against Mustaine. Ellefson settled out of court and rejoined the band in 2010, but was fired in 2021 amid allegations of sexual misconduct. Megadeth's current lineup includes Mustaine, bassist James LoMenzo, guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari and drummer Dirk Verbeuren.
Megadeth earned platinum certifications in the United States for five of its sixteen studio albums, and has received twelve Grammy nominations. Megadeth won its first Grammy Award in 2017 for the song "Dystopia" in the Best Metal Performance category. The band's mascot, Vic Rattlehead, regularly appears on album artwork and live shows. Megadeth has hosted its own music festival, Gigantour, several times since July 2005, and held its first MegaCruise in October 2019.
As of 2023, the band sold more than 50 million copies of their albums worldwide.

Slayer's Kerry King (guitar) said he recalled going to an L.A. club in 1982 and saw Metallica for the first time and was blown away... He saw Dave Mustaine on lead guitar (who was an original member) shredding and playing lead solos without even looking at the frets of his guitar and was starstruck... King was still a teenager and was still not as proficient on guitar to play like that! Metallica became the band that Slayer aspired to be in the early 80's.
Dave Mustaine was fired from Metallica in the spring of 1983 and he vowed to 'get back' at his former bandmates w/ a new band... Returning to L.A, Mustaine met bassist David Ellefson and the two formed Megadeth that year... (the late) drummer Gar Samuelson soon joined and they needed another guitarist.
Kerry King was attempting to get Slayer going in early 1984 but was asked by Mustaine to play some shows... King immediately jumped at the opportunity to play w/ Dave Mustaine and did the first few Megadeth shows as their 2nd guitarist.
Kerry King soon decided that Slayer had his loyalty... Thankfully, Gar Samuelson's friend Chris Poland saw Megadeth live and immediately asked to join on 2nd guitar and that line-up recorded the 1985 debut album by Megadeth ('Killing is my business... and business is good!') as well as the 2nd landmark album in 1986 - "Peace sells, but who's buyin'?"
Because of Megadeth's drug use and volatility, Mustaine would change members often and that has carried on to this day... This concert footage was from 2001 was Mustaine w/ David Ellefson on bass, Al Pitrelli on guitar and Jimmy DeGrasso on drums... this line up only lasted from 2000 to 2002.
Megadeth's most famous line-up was from 1990 to 1998 - Mustaine (vocals/ guitar), Ellefson (bass), Marty Friedman (guitar) and (the late) Nick Menza (drums).
Since you reacted to Wintersun, the lead guitarist of said band is now the current lead guitarrist for Megadeth, Teemu Mantysaari. Just saw them in Colombia, amazing even as Dave ages!
Megadeth is a great band. I saw for the first time in Argentina in 1994 when i was 20 years old at Obras Sanitarias.

Dave Mustaine has a very unique singing voice, but musically, as a guitarist, he is a genius at creating guitar riffs, songs, melodies and solos. Exactly the kind of music I like

Megadeth has changed their lineup more times than we all change clothes. Lol. Dave Mustaine has been the only constant member of the band over the years. As I understand it, their current lead guitarist is the guy from Wintersun, Teemu (Mustaine plays rhythm, but also plays some of the solos). As an aside, the bassist (Jukka) and drummer (Kai) from Wintersun are with Nightwish now - but are still doing studio work for Jari/Wintersun.
I've seen them live 5 times front row 3 of the times, second best shows I've been to behind The Warning of course. Last time I seen them this was the show opener.
I'm seeing this band in September.
Also, Sweating Bullets by Megadeth is a great tune.

Oh you're really going to like Megadeth... They are a band that are just on another level to other bands.. It almost feels unfair to the other bands.. Megadeth have been going now for over 40 years.. They have very rarely put a foot wrong.. You can pretty much listen to anything they have released over 16 albums (and 1 EP) and always find something you like.
Many are going to tell you to listen to songs from Rust in Peace.. Which is considered by many to be their best album.. But like I said.. You can listen to anything they have released and you'll like it.

Now if you want a drummer that will melt your brains into liquid crap, Danny Carey, from the band Tool, is considered one of the best drummers of all time. His drum cam performance of the live version of their song, "Pnuema," will leave you on life support.

Yeah Megadeth is Amazing. If you want to see a drummer, check out Buddy Rich considered to be the best. A tout le monde is another great song by Megadeth.
I am kind of surprised none of you have heard of Megadeth. They have always been considered to be one of the BIg Four of thrash metal, along with Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax. They have many great songs to react to. But this was a rather unusual first song to react to them. Better picks: Holy Wars (The Punishment Due), Peace Sells, Sweating Bullets, Symphony of Destruction, Tornado of Souls, In My Darkest Hour, and Hanger 18 would have been much better choices!

I'd rather talk to you on the phone and tell you the names of all of them. Because it would take forever to type them. One of my favorites is something that I'm not which is him. Telling off metallica for firingredients him at the time of the recording of the first album Symphony of destruction, peace cells. But who's buying the scorpion?
