    That is 100% Tatiana's voice. It will never get old watching people's reaction to this video. Typically that style of vocals is called growling, screaming and/or harsh vocals. There are other terms people use but those 3 are the most common

      Ayup. "Metal screams" is one umbrella term. What Tati does are mostly death metal growls, but not all screams are growls.
      "Distorted" or "dirty" vocals also work. The traditional singing is called "clean singing" in this context, so dirty is kind of opposite of it.

      Always called it 'vocal fry'. Her softer voice would be her 'head' voice.

    Jinjer is a spectacular band! All Hail Queen Tati!
    "Perennial" live at Wacken 2019 and "Judgement and Punishment" one take vocal are great next videos. "Teacher Teacher", "I Speak Astronomy", "Who Is Gonna Be the One" - Live. No end with Jinjer.

    Best reaction to Pisces since the Fairy Voice Mother spit out a mouthful of tea! Jinger is from Ukraine and the lead singer is Tatiana. She is self-taught to achieve her sound. The term i've heard to describe the 'demon voice' is harsh vocals. Great reaction!

      @@grinmaul jokes on you. Even if it was fake she has great analysis of vocal and growling techniques and the mini-tutorial on growling in her Hypa Hypa reaction is some if the most actionable info I've seen on the subject.

    Congrats! Y'all are true reactors now. It's kind of a thing that reactors have to get trolled by this song. There are compilation videos just of people's reactions to this video. Having said that - can you imagine if Tatiana has kids and they misbehave?! "Noooo, Mommy, don't bring out *the voice!* I'll be good!"

    Hello girls from little Switzerland 🇨🇭🙃 Welcome to the Jinjer rabbit hole, with a far above average talented band full of musicians who master their instruments, especially because they cleverly integrate some other music genres like no other band in heavy metal so far! Roman on guitar, Eugene on bass, Vladislav "Vlad" drummer, who is not actually a drummer, guitarist was in his previous band, but also mastered bass perfectly, but he also only learned these two instruments to perfection "on the side" and actually a fully trained professional classical music concert pianist in Ukraine at the Classical Music Conservatory 🤯!!! And yes, Tatjana is the front woman and singer of the band and is simply Bad🍑 Girl with probably the most extreme vocal techniques in the heavy metal genre among female singers! There are many other very well-known and good metal singers, but Tati is simply the absolute unicorn 🦄 because she can growl extremely low like no other, and at the same time she can scream as high as Eingel's voice, which is clear and can reach very high tones! And what sets her apart even more from everyone else, she is even more impressive live on stage than in videos! She does the live without any technical audio help from the sound engineer and software, like so many others! You'll hear it at the latest when you hear all of them live at a concert!!! That's many years of practicing, practicing, practicing and training and improving your voice technique! Here's a little help with all the songs - links of the band...😉🤘🏼

    I didn't take into account all collabrations between the band Jinjer and Tatjana with other artists & bands with live performances or music videos!
    As an example, Hello Death as a single from April 2022...
    The order compiled here is not 100% arranged like the album playlist, because sometimes there are no music videos, or they are not good enough quality for me to list here! I started adding to the list, step by step a few years ago with the available songs, qualities and release dates. I'll probably add to the list next year, i.e. more likely at the end / autumn of 2024 when Jinjer starts in the studio with the planned new album!

    It’s amazing what sounds a person can make using the Growling technique. Not for everyone but it has its place.
    It’s really cool you are open to listening to tracks like this. 🙂

  • @coder4liberty
    @coder4liberty 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

    So that technique is called false chord screaming/growling. The "false vocal chords" sit above the actual vocal chords and extend over the vocal chords when you swallow to help keep food from going down the wrong way. Singers who learn this technique learn to control those otherwise involuntary muscles to make sounds instead of or in conjunction with the vocal chords. The false chords can be as much as an octave in frequency range below the vocal chords and by using their nasal cavity and mouth they can shape the sound to get those low tones. It's a very difficult technique to learn correctly. If not learned correctly it can damage the vocal chords. Tatiana is better than most at the technique.
    I would suggest Perennial Live at Wacken Open Air 2019 as a good next video. Who is Gonna be the One Live, Pit of Consciousness Live in Kyiv, Teacher Teacher, Judgement and Punishment One Take Vocal all are very good as well.

    • @JariJuslin
      @JariJuslin 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Effortlessly and effortlessly. She's often out of breath afterwards (see for example Perennial @ Wacken), and it took her years to learn to do it the way she does it now.
      She can do it *seemingly* effortlessly and switch instantly, but it is bloody damn heavy exercise still.

    Another great reaction ladies! I told you about Alyssa of Arch Enemy and also Tatiana of Jinjer. Both phenomenal singers. I give the edge to Tatiana, as she has lower growls than many males. Pisces is one of the most reacted to videos on YT for the shock value alone. Once you get used to Tatiana's growls, you will come to appreciate how talented the musicians in this band are! Roman on guitar, Eugene on bass, and Vlad on drums! All world class performers!!

    Exactly! Tatiana, the singer, is Pisces. My late partner was Pisces and bipolar - this song totally fits! Smooth guitars like sunlight rippling on moving water and then...... PIRANHA!!!! See the goldfish in Tati's earrings? She was a teacher in Ukraine before she got "hooked" on music (pun intended). Imagine being the class clown? (not for long!)

    This is very popular on TH-cam for reactor shock value. Tatiana is well known for her growl vocals, like Alissa of Arch Enemy. I personally like Tatiana's screaming upper register. She uses her false vocal folds for her growls so not to damage her vocal chords.

    She's literally disengaging her vocal cords and using her false folds. It's basically clearing your throat while forming words with your mouth and she controls pitch by vowel placement. She's very masterful at it. Learning this helped me revolutionize my growl on the sax, because it's the same basic technique.

  • @valksyvalksington6155
    @valksyvalksington6155 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    I love that you've seen 2 women doing extreme vocals now (Alissa White-Gluz of Arch Enemy) and both times been shocked and surprised but also gone - That's awesome!
    Extreme vocals are a specific technique, the sound is not tampered with electronically, and it requires proper knowledge because you can hurt yourself. The mechanics aside, I appreciate how growling brings new textures to music. As much as pitch and tone, the production of these very harsh sounds are part of narrative. This song is about duality, two beings co-existing, and part of the illustration of this is in the use of two radically different vocal techniques. As Tatiana switches between smooth pure sweet voice, and some of the hardest and deepest growls you're going to hear from a woman, that concept of duality is crystallised in your mind.
    Growling has a purpose and it has a meaning and I like that you are open to this rather than dismissing it as difficult noise.

    The "demon voice" you speak of is a death metal growl. Accordin to vocal coaches, she's usin the lower part of vocal chords & makin it flutter a bit to get that deep gutteral growl. Awesome band from Ukraine

    There is some production on Tatiana's voice both during the clean vocals and the growls, but she can switch from one to the other on a dime and is a damn good in both voices. There's a little pitch correction on her clean vocals, there's a second growling voice at various points, and there's a whisper track that carries on throughout the last verse and outro (and maybe more, I forget when it actually starts). There re times where the guitar is doubled as well.
    All that said, Jinjer is one of the most musically-interesting bands out there right now and my biggest regret of 2023 is scheduling a trip out west and thus not getting to see Jinjer when they were near my home.

    Interjecting "mine is gemini" is the most on-brand thing for a gemini to say. ;) I've seen them twice and they are epic. Tatiana practiced growls for 5 years starting when she was 15 before starting to use growling vocals in performances. She's now in her 30s and has been doing those growls more than half her life amd keeps getting stronger both clean and growled. Perennial live at Wacken (pronounced "Vah-ken" because it's in Germany 🇩🇪) is one of the best follow-up options. Subbed. Cheers!

    They are from Donetsk , in eastern Ukraine, where the fighting started in 2014. How does Tatiana do that? lol. She uses the false vocal folds , which are above the vocal chords. Just call it harsh vocals when you aren't sure. This live session is a redo of an older song in order to showcase Vlad on drums, who had joined not long before this. It went viral, however, because of her vocals. Roman on guitar, and Eugene on bass. All are awesome musicians. The heavy parts are metalcore. They switchup to other genres within a song quite often, Jazz and Reggae among the genres they switch to.
    When the current fighting started, the guys were stuck in Kiev, but were eventually allowed to leave , to tour and be ambassadors for Ukraine.
    Yes Lulu, Pisces like the Zodiac sign. The symbol for which is 2 fish swimming in opposite directions. So, the key word here is Duality. Tati wrote most of the lyrics, and she is a Pisces. Eugene , also a Pisces, helped her finish it off.
    Most common next step for this band is to see her do it live, with either Perennial at Wacken 2019 or Pit of Consciousness live in Kiev. Others to check out; Teacher Teacher, Judgenment (And Punishment), Home Back, I Speak Astronomy, Who is Gonna Be the One, and Vortex.

    This type of voice, called growls, is played by many metal bands, many of them with female vocalists such as Jinjer, Vintersea, Arch enemy, lutharo, Ankor, Blackthorn... And many more.

  • @Mischnikvideos
    @Mischnikvideos 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    Guys, you can't recommend that to the three of them. An old lady is present and the song regularly leads to respiratory arrest, cardiac arrhythmias and hysterical fits of laughter. The band would need a firearms license for this song. And the spectators always have a lot of fun.
    With many female growlers you can hear that they are women and have a softer sound. Tati growls better than most men and has a sweet voice. The jazzy vibe makes the band unique in metal. If you want to classify them, today they are Melodic Death Metal. It was former DeathCore.
    Instead of demons, the voice can also be compared to lions. That also depends on the context.
    The band was formed in Ukraine in 2008. It will be completely replaced by 2015, which is why they now name 2009 as their founding year. This year Tatiana Shmailyuk takes the mic. Pisces was the international breakthrough in 2016 and is about the zodiac sign. Tati herself is a Pisces.
    When civil war broke out in the east in 2014, the band fled from there to the west of the country. When Russia invades Ukraine in 2022, they are in Kiev and help defend the city on the civilian side. After that, due to the general mobilization, men of military age are no longer allowed to leave the country. The band was able to go on tour with a special permit and is raising money for the defense of Ukraine.

    Jinjer and Arch Enemy toured Europe together before the pandemic. Alissa and others in the band are vegans, while Tati is not a clean-living person.
    They are from the eastern parts of Ukraine and it has been almost 10 years since their home was invaded by Russia (the war now does not start in February 2022 but already in 2014) so they were internally displaced in their own country even then and they have made a song I like from those with the theme of the "Home Back" which is a song you have to do (their songs are worth reading the lyrics after them, it's easy to miss something if you only shine)
    But I'm Swedish so I'm more for Arch Enemy and Alissa is friends with Floor and Elize (Amarathe) and they saved a show with NW before Floor was part of the band (2012 Denver) and last time the singer chose Alissa and books both Arch Emeny and Amatanthe and is friends with Simon in EPICA
    Floor did interviews with several artists on her own channel during the pandemic where they are all friends with her privately

    The "demon voice" is called screaming or growling, it is produced by the false vocal cords. It's a technique that can be learned in a couple minutes but takes a talent to perfect like this. Also, death metal is a common umbrella term for the subgenre with these vocals. Jinjer is more of a metalcore or a deathcore band. BTW you may want to check the lyrics, it's pure poetry.
    Also, Lulu is toast.

    You are all so genuine and wholesome 😊 thanks for cheering me up today ✌️
    It's technically called a "vocal fry". You know how you have vocal folds in your larynx that vibrate to make sounds? Well above those tonal folds there are other flaps called "false folds" they are more loose and difficult to engage but with proper technique you can vibrate those false folds with breath control to allow for those growling sounds to come out.
    It goes without saying that every person is different and built in their own unique way and the shape and musculature of your respratory system are a key component in your body's ability to achieve certain sounds. It just so happens that she is most likely and literally "built" for this. Along with of course a lot of training and technique.
    I need to mention that you should not try to imitate a vocal fry without ample research on the safety, warm-ups and techniques necessary to achieve these sounds. And it's wise to take vocal lessons.
    YOU CAN SERIOUSLY DAMAGE YOURSELF, AND SOMETIMES PERMANENTLY IF YOU USE IMPROPER TECHNIQUE!!! I had a friend in high school who did some bad damage to his vocal chords and it seriously impacted his musical career and life. The key point is, if you feel any discomfort, STOP!
    I apologize for the rant but it's a fascinating subject. If you guys are interested in a dazzling display of vocal control and art from indigenous Altai, Tuvan and Mongolian culture check out "throat singing" here is my favorite video of an Altai group from Russia th-cam.com/video/Mhr0XbGBOPg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Qvln5956CpdXsFXA it's amazing and beautiful.

    Dear ladies, just a hint on how she does it - from a vocal coach/musicologist:
    Try an angry, raspy sigh. Do you feel something vibrating high up in your throat, almost at the base of your tongue?
    Those are the false vocal folds, a.k.a. vestibular folds.
    Now try to imitate a big bad dog and bark using the same kind of rasp... now you're getting closer, you can hear that your voice is not only raspy and aggressive, but also much deeper.
    Tatiana is like a hybrid car with two distinct and separate engines. She uses her normal vocal folds for her clean vocals and the vestibular folds for the growls. That is why she can switch back and forth between the two sometimes in less then a second (as you'll see and hear if you watch more Jinjer performances).
    Of course this is much easier to explain than to actually accomplish, the latter takes an enormous amount of practice.
    People tend to overestimate talent and underestimate work.
    Of course, if one is talented it makes it all easier. But even the most talented person won't get anywhere if he or she doesn't put in the thousands of hours of practice.

    There’s a little bit of studio magic to bring everything to the levels it should be, and a slight bit of reverb, but otherwise that’s all her. It’s not something I would recommend everyone try without the proper training. Most people call it harsh vocals or screaming. The technique Tatiana specifically uses predominantly is a non tonal one, so her actual voice doesn’t come through it at all, whereas someone like Courtney of Spiritbox uses a tonal technique, so it moves around and changes tones, and they’re tones in her normal vocal range.

    There are two techniques used to produce this type of harsh vocal sound, I've no idea how exactly to describe them but there are several vocal coaches on TH-cam that have exceptional explanations of how it is done. One method is called "Vocal Fry" the other is referred to as "False Cord". My understanding is that they both produce a harsh resonant growl distortion to the voice. After the technique, the 'quality' of the growling sound is also dependent on (amazing) breath control and the shape (and use) of the skull structure that generates air movement and sound. Tati has the techniques mastered no doubt - live it is even more amazing.

    Pisces- two fish one angelic and one demonic in one person fighting for control. It’s the Yen and Yang of the zodiac. Some people call it a metal scream but I think it’s screaming growl and it’s made by the false vocal cords and tongue with a lot of air. She trained till she had a growl that sounded like a male growl, they are a Ukrainian band by the way.

    The "demon voice" technique is called false cord. It's a type of pitchless scream. This is all Tati, though there is a good amount of post-production work on this live session. Check out Perennial Live at Wacken 2019 for an amazing live performance on stage.

    Great, entertaining reaction! You ladies did a wonderful job. As many have pointed out, "demon" vocals are often known as harsh vocals in metal music. And while Tatiana can sing beautifully, it is the depths of her false chord growls that shock most who are unaware of the technique. Honestly, most people can activate their false chords by sighing heavily. Be sure to check out "Perennial" live at Wacken, "Judgement and Punishment" one take, and "Teacher, Teacher".

    Tatiana is amazing! I'd suggest Perennial live @ Wacken for your next Jinjer reaction. It's a kickass show and shows her vocal abilities perfectly! Both clean and growling :)

    False cord distorted vocalization would be the closest to technical lable for it.

    That is her actual vocals. The deeper "demon" sounds are called gutterals, or growls, and are done using a technique involving the false folds just above your true vocal folds, and is how they can make those sounds without hurting there voice. The higher screams are a vocal fry technique that is utilized in many forms of singing, and done properly also doesnt hurt the voice. Also fun fact, the growls are the same sort of technique used by throat singers.

    Tatiana said it makes her feel very powerful when she growls.
