Five Magics is a super masterpiece, you cannot possibly understand it in one song play, it's so beyond complex and as aggressive as it can possibly become; it's like from another dimension, how someone can write that kind of song is unbelievable... Also it's a serious ancient belief: the existence of Five Magics, the Pentangle Star. Few things messed up, Thaumaturgy not Thermatology, lightning not electricity, wizardry of fire..
Exactly, this song just gets better and better each time you play it
idk how other people perceive it, but when i listened to that outro riff, i was sold, 100% on the spot, headbanging like crazy in my workplace. even my boss took concern of me thinking ive lost my mind at my job.

@@toparky2470 when I first heard the song the most notorious aspect was that final section, but each time I heard it again, I realized absolutely everything in this song is rocks... the killer intro which is extended in the outro, nasty bass, insane drumming, that proggy section in the middle, Marty's exotic solos, epic lyrics, and the cherry on top is that blistering Dave solo at the end. The epitome of metal
Calm down there chief. It's not exactly Beethoven levels of complexity. It's a good tune, but let's not get carried away here.

Marty's last solo before the "Give me alchemy!" part is among some of the greatest guitar work ever recorded.

Marty Friedman was the greatest thing to happen to Megadeth insane guitar work on the whole album by both him and Dave

Megadeth never had a bad album with Poland, but as soon as Friedman got involved in the overall writing process of Megadeth they went downhill and released some of their worst albums.

The best of the big 4 in my opinion. Along the lines of being “schizophrenic” musically they have a song that is exactly that. Not sure if you’ve heard or done it but check out “Sweating Bullets”
This is what creative Thrash should be. 5 magics is exceptional!!

The more I listen to Megadeth over the years, the more I'm convinced that this is actually their best song.
That’s a good note about the Beatles. I say that because Dave Mustaine was a big Beatles Fan and has stated on mutiple occasions his older sister liked the Beatles and that their music has an influence on how he structured certain songs in Megadeth
Maybe he still is,who knows?
This is kind of wrong. In Dave’s autobiography he talks about how Cat Steven’s was his biggest early influence for rhythm and getting it from his sister. I haven’t seen him mention the Beatles in that same capacity anywhere

Heard Dave cited Paul Anka and Terry Jacks as major influences on the songwriting for Risk and Super Collider.

Couple of things.
Black Sabbath also a band that will go somewhere completely different during a song then bring it back.
This is one of Dave’s top 2 solos (imo)
If you want a song that has different riffs throughout the song then I would recommend The Conjuring. Or Good Mourning/Black Friday.

I had an EEG recently and while we were getting ready, the nurse asked me what kind of music I liked and the first band I thought of was Megadeth. So I'm laying in the machine and this song comes on, and I'm supposed be laying still but I'm in there like "BESTOW UPON ME MAGIC WIZARD ALL-KNOWING ALL-WIIISE"
I love then ending, I mean, I love the whole song, but the ending... is just gorgeous.
Nice choice of song. You guys should try the band Death. There are some really cool and odd songs structures from that band too.
I so wish they would do something from Death, especially from Human, Symbolic or TSOP albums.

Fuego 🔥 The guitar work and drums again are just so good the subject matter doesn’t really matter as much as it would normally be in a song. Having grown up a mettalica fan who hated Dave and Megadeth because as teenage mettwlica fans that’s what we were supposed to do, but once I outgrew juvenile tendencies like hating a man and band I never gave a chance to hear I was hooked when I finally heard their songs at a party a friend was having for new years. And since that day I have been a Megadeth fan.
Oh I remember when I first listened to Five Magics. You might say it was…”magical”.

This is THE ALBUM and the and really mean THE ALBUM. Been listening to heavy metal since 83 and it does not mater if I like death, black, heavy, doom, grind, thrash metal or grind core or just hard rock... it's hard or almost impossible to make a better album than this... a top 5 and fighting on number 1 with vinterland....
Should do a reaction to My Last Words off Peace Sells album. Great song that describes participating in a game Russian roulette and goes perfectly with the music. One of my favorites off that album.
All analogies in the lyrics are my favorite part. "A click comes from a hammer that couldn't drive a nail"

I love this song , Take No Prisoners and Poison Was The Cure just because of how wild a ride they are.
I think more bands show make through composed songs like these that start somewhere but always keep moving forward without always going back to a previous section of a song.
It just feels like a consistent and coherent thought rather than a bit of a meme. I mean verse/chorus/verse is fine ... But some variety like this goes a long way. Experimentation with form is really one of the things that make an album come alive. Otherwise its like a singles collection.

The final refrain sting in the guitar solo at the end of this song is 5 quick notes played together, symbolising the 5 magicks being used together at last!

You have to do some Death for real. For example you can start with something more old school and primitive like "Left to Die" from Leprosy and on the future episode you can surprise him with something from Symbolic, SOP or even Control Denied. Would be cool! By the way your channel is great. You two look like a mega-cool dudes. Keep it up!
Dave Mustaine is a king, he is a real Hero of this era. i'm considering Megadeth as one of the best 3 rock and metal band in history. Beatles are for sure another one.
I always listen to the remastered versions of old albums, because 9 times on 10 it just sounds better.
Only if you have a low end sound system.
I prefer to listen to the actual product that was produced of it's time not a tinkered alternative version decades later

Megadeth and Great Measures a winning video combination. Recommend for a great Megadeth song Addicted To Chaos is a must. Its about addiction and is a great song. Not quite as schizophrenic as this though.
As the T-shirt suggests, you should do something by Exodus and from the Bonded By Blood album. One of the best thrash albums of all time. You two Magics are enough for me, but if Mustaine says, I can take five.
