Very nice work. It's from a time when one purchased a packet of blades and it lasted forever because you just kept using the Radium to strop them sharp over and over. Interesting contrast with today, the age of disposable plastic razors. Thanks for the video, Mr. Fabrik.
For most of this video I thought that was a pencil sharpener - I couldn't figure out what the leather was for or why you selected an old razor blade - made a lot more sense at the end 🤣 Great video!!! 👍
@@nikibordeaux I wonder if we've both been watching the same restoration videos - quite a few pencil sharpener restorations - but honestly I really enjoyed them 😂
Old trends are funny. There's a cocktail invented in the 20s called the 'Aviation' - because flying was a cool trend for the cool kids - that as you might guess has nothing to do with flying. Well, you might 'fly' if you had a few.
Quel régal de voir cette restauration. L'objet est tellement rouillé qu'on a du mal à imaginer le résultat final ! Avis aux collectionneurs !!! Merci et bravo, comme d'habitude.
Hey there really nice restoration a tip you have to wet the leather and they have a honing paste you apply on the damp leather to make it really work well you also treat your razor strope with it to sharpen your straight razor to a fine edge. Same for those blades
I wouldn't mind one of these. Started using a safety razor a couple years back, and while the blades are cheap it still seems wasteful to discard them after 5 or so uses.
I think that was a pretty good restoration. The razor could slice garlic but that doesn't mean it's sharp enough to shave with. I think it would work better with some stropping compound on the leather. Thanks for the video.
Bravo !
Magnificent job you did restoring that old razor blade sharpener to working order. It looks much better than before and it works like a charm too. Excellent work.
That was surprisingly hilarious! You had to restore the razor blade to test the sharpener! Loved the video, keep up the good work and thanks for sharing!
I think that was the most corroded thing you done so far but now it is absolutely beautiful! The blades really hone well and it is amazing how thin you can slice with it. Thanks for sharing this and I am looking forward to your next tutorial.
My age is not important anymore when I’ll confess that I remember that every kid in school had one of these pencil sharpeners on its own desk until the supply of pencils at school was greatly reduced because everyone had sharpened their pencil within two days! Exactly a year later we all received an inkwell with a dip pen on our desk. I don't know what cost more, the sharpened pencils or the stains in our clothes, floors and desks let alone what our body parts looked like?! Fingers, faces………..and so on❤😂 And nowadays? We elderly peoples have to ask our grandchildren how to switch on a bloody computer😂😂 Merci beaucoup my friend for sharing this video 🙏
Actually, Radium razors were manufactured by Otto Roth Inc., the same outfit that made the Radium Clipper. The company was located at 11-15 E. Runyon Street in Newark, New Jersey.
Can you share how or where you find things to restore? I want to give it a try and starting with something small and simple like this sharpener sounds fun.
Beautiful restoration. But why glue the tags in place? A future restorer will never be able to remove them anymore. Just glueing only the rivets should be enough?

20 years earlier it might have contained actual Radium, they put it in women's makeup! with obvious results.

I really appreciate that you show multiple methods of rust removal! I'd like to try some of them out myself.
Grandioso.
Es agradable ver tus restauraciones, relajan la mente, el cuerpo, el alma.

Another fantastic restoration, i love watching your videos

Un grand merci !
What a fascinating machine . The garlic slicing was a nice touch .

And the "safety" in the term safety razor is barely accurate...
@@glennsoucy9767 it's safer than it's predecessor, the straight razor. I'd love a straight razor. So classy.

I committed about that I wet my strop well and apply that paste works really nice on my folding knife puts a keen edge on it .
Nice job, as usual, though it would have been useful to do a cutting test before sharpening to see the difference.
Never seen such a machine before. But you did a great job refurbishing it and it seems like it works pretty well... Thumbs Up!
Nice restoration! I get the most satisfaction of you disassembling your finds.

Merci Yves, je ne suis pas un pro de l’affûtage mais le avant/après montre que ces anciens affûteurs sont quand même efficaces !
One of the few advantages of pitting in the metal is that it probably made an easier to adhere to surface.

Great job! Another Utuber restorer claims that if one uses leather to sharpen the blade it's called "stropping". (unsure of the spelling)

Radium, because what we need is a radioactive razor.
I have a general policy of staying away from things labeled "Radium" 😅

Dude you don't need to use so much WD-40, all you need is a little WD-40 and let it sit for a while then start on the screws
Well… this is what I did ! I let the WD40 for a few hours.. Heat was the best way I guess…
Any one can explain me. How the leather can sharp blade please?

Why would razor blades be rusted if they were sealed.
