As much as I may try, I was not able to get ALL the patterns live in time for time. Please accept my apology and know that I will finish listing all of then by mid-afternoon tomorrow. Thank you all for your patience as this box had WAY more patterns to check than usual.

If you size up and make that cute lil pink dress that you kept the pattern of, can you share your sized up pattern .. you said you're a bust 48 and so am I, but I have no clue how to size up anything .. and that dress is adorable !

Years ago I worked in the medical world and had to wear scrubs to work every day. Soon I was making them for everyone. I bought the S-M-L size pattern and traced the pieces out by laying a clear shower curtain over the pattern pieces tracing out the size I wanted with markings with a permanent marker. I stored between pieces of tissue paper and rolled up on an empty paper towel roll with a plain white paper on the outside label ed and banded shut.

Simplicity 6189 was the spittin’ image of a groovy outfit that I bought in the big city of Vancouver, BC during the Christmas holidays when I was 12 years old and I wore it when I made the scene back at my small-town school. The top and stockings were of a shiny turquoise and white argyle pattern, and the skirt was navy blue. At three inches above the knee, it was the very first miniskirt ever worn in my school! Thanks for the Me-mo-rees! Blessings from Canada 🇨🇦

The 38 thing is such a dyslexic experience. I do this all the time esp with times. Ik exactly what i mean like conceptually in my head ik i mean a specific time but say the wrong one and theres a path my brain takes to get there but yeah. I swap numebrs or ketters around all thime bc theyre right next to each other. Another example is if theres a paragraph and 2 lings have the same wording in the same place i will cut out the end of the first line and beginning of the second line. Chaos i tell you

The one from the 60’s with the stockings, I remember my older cousins wearing stockings like that with garters. They still used garters in the 60’s. I had a flashback just now, lol.😮 Thankfully, when I became a teen in the 70’s, we had moved onto orange-ish pantyhose.

Hehe, those 70's flared almost secret pants...and the other 70s pattern with the skirt with the v-shaped yoke... except I have no idea how to fit my ass into bottoms that are based on a bust size :P So I will just have to draft them myself.

Simplicity 6189 I have that pattern! Actually I have 2. Found the first at St. Vinny's but it was missing the stockings so bought it again off Ebay. I wanted the stocking pattern to go with my kirtle. :D It's a WHACKY stocking pattern!

All of the 70s knits are giving me flashbacks to all the time I spent with my mother in the Stretch and Sew shop when I was a kid in the 70s. The amount of double-stretch polyester I was clothed in during that decade probably contributed to half the climate change issues we are facing today.

I wish I could order a copy of a pattern that you like and let you keep it instead of getting the original cause I always freaking mess the things up that way you can keep it lose pieces and like totally ruin a vintage pattern because I have a few vintage patterns I've bought cut it out and still not been able to make it because I lose pieces before and everything gets lost before it actually gets made Because I am horrible with patterns most the time I just do draping but I want to try them. I am a bust 45. I also need them sized up I'm 40 DD size 18 on most of my clothes some can go down to 12 or 16 depending on the cut and brand I just hate to mess up patterns. I need practice and I want to do things Are more old-school clothing, because I'm not into modern stuff for the most part

So many…hard to pick my favorite! My favorite era, though, was the very early 50’s❤️. I really appreciated your naming of various pattern details (boatneck, empire waist, bolero jacket, etc.) for the less fashion-aware (ahem…myself) to learn something new. Just stumbled across your channel; LOVE it!

My favorite -- the evil Christie Brinkley jacket that has no pattern. You know I'm going to have to see if one was ever made.

All the best for the New Year, Lady. Let's hope it's a good one. Now. Back to California dreaming... Good. Box. Maybe best-est ever.

Think how sad it was to spend your 20s in the 80s. EVERYTHING was oversized. You felt like a 5 year old playing dress up in your mother's clothes... except hers were better looking. Sigh. But at least the hair, make-up and jewelry was just awful. The shoes were cool though.

I’m just amazed at the changes in American sizing. I mean a size 16 in 1945 has a bust of 34”. A size 16 now is 42-44 inches!! That’s 10 inches difference for the same “size”. Proving size numbers are just made up malarkey 😉😂

5:00 sorry my great gran insisted I learn flat pattern drafting and "from sight" duplication from age 8. At the time I considered contacting CPS as I saw math as a form of abuse. 😂 But now I am SOOOOOOOO GRATEFUL.
Torture your children with science and knowledge, they don't know what is good for them. Teach them to trust and respect you, that not everything is rainbows and lollipops they will thank you long after you've died. ❤ Thanks Grandma I can literally see the pattern pieces in my mind.

Unfortunately I am WAY more PLUS sized than any of these. I find the casual elegance of the 40's attractive though I've never tried to make any, while most of the 60's and 70's are right out (except for some of those massive palazzo-type pants, they're fun)

  • @aimee-made
    @aimee-made 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

I absolutely LOVE half-sizes. I'm 5'3" and a little more ample than I used to be.... but, the half-sizes fit my frame better. I find that most Miss patterns are too wide in the neckline and shoulder-to-shoulder, the waist is about 2 inches too low, and of course the hemline is too long. For a while I was really stumped because I was shortening the skirt but everything else was too big. Half-sizes for the win! I wish contemporary patterns came in half-sizes! (Has everyone also gotten taller than people used to be???)

Hello from the UK 😊 Delightful video, as ever. Beautiful things to look at, with your customary warm, funny, knowledgeable and entertaining commentary.
One thing I'm wondering... Would there be any way you could keep the banner with the pattern year on the screen for just a little longer...? I've had to do pause and rewind a few times, cos it's felt a bit 'blink and you miss it'.
Could you maybe have a slightly smaller banner, with just the year, positioned by the picture-in-picture of you, so that it doesn't obscure anything of the pattern envelope, that stays on the screen for the same length of time as the envelope? If you see what I mean... Something like that...?
I'm a complete non-sewer, BTW - but I adore the history of material culture. I admire and delight in the skill of those, like yourself, who specialise in and recreate the craft of the past.

'Leona Rocha was a fit expert. Born in Hawaii, she originally enlisted in the Army’s dental technician course. She used her GI bill benefits to train as a designer at the FIT, she was a past president of the American Home Sewing Association, and even wrote a book about fitting with simplicity. She was a founder of a sewing notions company called Fashionetics, and was the inventor of The Fashion Ruler while still a student, and it is still sold today. In the early 80’s, she partnered with Simplicity to do seminars about fit. At that time, she also hosted a TV show called The Sewing Show on cable four days a week, twice a day. It was a thirteen week series about how to sew at home and properly fit home sewn clothing. She later became an executive at Vogue-Butterick patterns - and married one of their executives. She ran for office on Maui, where she still lives today.' ~The Vintage Fashion Librarian

My fav pattern was the stuffed animals.
I am sure my Mom had that pattern.
She also made a ballerina doll.. she used satin for the body and
embroidered the face and used yarn for the hair.
    Maybe you have that pattern?
She also made dolly clothes out of men’s ties.
Seven kids, where did she get the time and the energy ?
My Mom is where I got the ‘how hard can it be’ gene.
Except her stuff always turned out pretty amazing!

genuine question - why not trace all the (components of) patterns that you like and then sell them?

Swap your stashed pattern for a new one from the box if you really want to keep more?

The only pattern I've completed was for a bag. I just found several patterns I bought circa 2007 and want to actually try some out. Well, I traced clothes I liked and used those patterns but I hadn't uses purchased ones. It's about time I try!

Stumbled across your feed and watched the video of the 2nd haul. I didn’t realize that there would be a good market for old patterns. I sew but not clothing. Every time I’ve tried I have not been successful. I loved looking at all the patterns especially the older 1930s and 1940s interesting. Wondering if they made them for us plus sized girls. 48ddd. Wondering if they made patterns for the more to love girls. I’m gonna ad you to my feed cuz I love your crazy self. I would love to see some of those patterns used for some of today’s fabrics. Do you have a buy, make and show and tell channel or web site? Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Thanks for the entertainment!😊

Aww thank you! Yes, they did make plus size patterns (those are the ones I tend to use) and I actually do have my own website full of vintage patterns, fabrics and notions! www.backroomfinds.com

Simplicity 1579 aaaahhhh the sweetheart neck, the little straps, and for me, with my big old old lady bingo wings, I wouldn't need to make the cape...

Simplicity # 8403 the second piece is a DUSTER. The green dress with the triangles are reminiscent of military ephilets was war time. Uhhmmm...Secret Pants, yeph, thats our girl Rachael M. But I need that pattern (3711) in a 3X 24/26 HELP. The 2507 Pattern in green is beautiful. I am shocked actually. That is the most complicated neck lineand sleeves I've seen them put out. It reminds me of my Vogue $17.00 pattern. BTW Have you tried using an iron with a steam cloth to remove the tape? Also, will help kill spores.

I love watching unboxings. I screenshot my favs and I use them for inspiration for costuming designs for my TTRPG characters and as potential vTuber outfits.

I always enjoy your unboxing videos! I'm kinda glad the patterns are usually sold by the time I see them on your website, though, because I'm starting a no-buy January and a low-buy year. 💸💸💸

so 10 inches is the amount you'd recommend for grading? That's awesome, I didn't realize you could do more than a few inches! (also very new to grading so, the more you know)
