Y’all crack me up lol I’m from the bay area so thank you for making this video. We’ve been to San Francisco so many times I’ve only been there once, but I was trying to show my family because we’re going to go again this weekend and they never here of this place… it’s so cool so Great video.
Great video, and thanks for the trip down memory lane! I was playing electro-mechanical games in the mid 70's. I mean the few real video games back then were stuff like Gun Fight '75 and 280Zzap, which were pretty bad timed games. If you didn't like pinball (which I didn't), the EM games were your only decent option in an arcade. Wish I could remember the names. I loved the ones that had projected images that you would shoot with a rifle.
@@vvarietyshow Most definitely! I went a couple/3 times as a kid and it was ALWAYS my first stop. I'd spend a few hours in there. Thanks again for the video my friend.👍 👍
Thanks for posting this video. I actually busted this place a couple times back in the early 90s when it was over by the Cliff House. Need to make it over there on at The Wharf. Thanks again for the trip down memory lane in the meantime.
How the first arcades were made by seeing only a show or something when putting a coin,to more interactive that you could play like the baseball game with the trigger gun! They also based somewhat in a more modern perspective of the first automatons if you caught my drift! I would visit this amazing place really often because its a really big part of history behind the arcades and games we playing until today in those small boxes we call consoles in front of out tv sets! How the technology became over the years its really fascinating to see those from close, and try to understand how they working! I must show this video to a friend he will really like it!
Great vlog man, looks like a really neat place to check out. but i have to say i guess some animatronics makers back in the day were really fascinated with different styles of execution? lmao
I am 50 years old now, when I saw these games in my 11 years old I wanted them to last very very long they were the real deal, realistic better than 3D
Hey its so Dope! to see you two together.....I love it, awesome video. I like the two baseball games. I laugh at the clown game....he must had been mad right? two balls hit the sign ..........So Dope Dylan & Cole. btw Stay safe guys
The baseball games are a lot of fun and actually take a bit of skill. It's always cool to play a game that is real with paddles and balls instead of just a video game
Just sent Chris a message that we MUST go here.... says it's open now September 10, 2020 but not sure how they go about that.... Will check it out at some point though... Thanks again for a great episode.
I've seen these electro mechanical arcade game machines before on KTVU channel 2 before. Even though they're different compared to the 1970s and 1980s video arcade game machines. 🕹
Looks like part of this place burned down this morning... =( Not sure how much damage or what was lost, but i can't stand the idea of losing those machines.
@@vvarietyshow so glad to hear that. Saw a picture of firefighters entering the museum and got worried. Also the Jeremiah O'Brian and the USS Pampanito are safe so it's not as bad as it could have been.
I'm so so so sorry... I feel ashamed. Next time I'm goofing off and joking I will make sure the things I say are more accurate and literal Please find it in your heart to forgive my transgressions...
Good question Danny. Racism can be very subtle, it's not always very blatant. In this case, opium dens were often seen as an inherent blight on the Chinese community. They were looked down on and it was seen they were often drug addicts in dirty laundries. That machine sort of pushes that narrative. Racism is a spectrum so perhaps the creators were not trying to specifically attack the Chinese immigrants, but it can be interpreted that way. Racism isn't always insulting someone or doing something bad to them, sometimes it can be as simple as pushing a negative stereotype in media.
Loved this video bro! Keep up the amazing content!
Thank you Andrew!!!

The older games were just simple fun. Motor skills, perception, vision. Glad you enjoyed!
Disney had a Penny Arcade back in the 70s and 80s with a bunch of those early arcade machines, really cool stuff. Thanks for showing them some love!
I loved the Penny Arcade on Main Street!
@@vvarietyshow Most definitely! I went a couple/3 times as a kid and it was ALWAYS my first stop. I'd spend a few hours in there. Thanks again for the video my friend.👍 👍
They don't still have it?
I love that place, that owner is so nice!!
Disneyland Anaheim had a lot of these machines. It was called "The penny arcade" on Main Street. What a great spot.
Loved the Penny Arcade! My favorite was the one that would shock you and you tried to hold onto the metal bars as long as you could
A coworker and I headed over there a few years back when on a business trip. Pretty awesome experience
One of my favorite things to do in SF
I just saw this video... Keep up the awesome work 👍
Thank you Frankie 🙏🙏🙏

Glad you enjoyed! I actually not got to visit the Cliff House location sadly. Sorry for late response!

Looks like y'all had a blast. Good stuff, guys.
One of my favorite places
You seem like a chill guy to have a beer with!
Oh wow, I remember visiting this place as a kid back in '80 or '81. Freaked me out!

Thank you! And I guess shock value is not a new concept haha
@@vvarietyshow Well there was the Grand Guignol.
That shooting game is also my favorite but it definitely always seems to be down and or always packed!
Such a shame, hope it's restored eventually
Awesome!! I could spend forever in there. You do the coolest stuff
It's filled with stuff, you could definitely spend all evening trying to see it all
On another note, I hope yall got to check out the SF Dungeon next to the wax museum.
Not sure how I missed this comment, but the Dunegeon did not allow filming when I stopped by.
Enjoyed that; thanks for posting.

There so weird looking yet so awesome!!!
I love this place
Completely forgot you two dancing at the beginning and I filmed it. LoL
The vintage machines are my favorite. I have 3 of the ones you played..
Not very often you come across a matching pair of hollow skulls, but there is certainly two here.
How dare we have fun and make eachother laugh huh?

I'm wondering because there was also a huge fire at the end of the pier recently
i would have ahoilday in there, i love old arcades
it's one of my favorite places in the whole city

This is so fun! Love from malaysia
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
This was made possible with Thomas Edison's discovery of electricity
My favorite place to go to. Love all the old machines in there 🥰 Definitely going to hit up this place again after quarantine 😬
Me too can't wait
Man I miss the Bay! Hope you're doing well.
You too, how you liking the draft so far?
@@vvarietyshow the draft was cool but I wanted us to get Ceedee Lamb. Still excited for whenever football season starts.
Put your coin in and you get a free show.
...wait, what?

Bad news! Just checked and the fire was further down the pier thankfully! Thanks for the heads up

A "free show" does not cost 25 cents.
